Chereads / A Dragon Is Supposed To Be An Overpowered Monster, Right? / Chapter 7 - Chapter 6: Let's Go Skeleton Hunting

Chapter 7 - Chapter 6: Let's Go Skeleton Hunting

I woke up after a long sleep inside my cave. This cave has already become an obvious sleeping spot for me. I really hope I'd get a better place to sleep in the future.

『Fuahhhh... I had a nice long sleep after a long time... probably because I was quite tired after that hellish battle』

Now, what should I do today? According to Wisdom-sama, it's been 5 days since I've reincarnated here. I'm not that hungry right now, but I want to test my abilities now that I'm a Drake.

Well I'll figure it out while walking around. For now let's move to the outside of this cave.

I went outside the cave I was using for sleeping and went near the Blast Liquid Lake. I had used up a lot of it in the last battle so I'll restock it, just in case I run into some sort of trouble again.

I activated Dimensional Storage and stored enough Blast Liquid to take up around 7 metres of space. Oh, by the way, I now have a space of around 10 metres in all directions in my Dimensional Storage. It sure is convenient. I filled a bit more of the space with Recovery Crystals and went outside the huge cave.

Now, let's see, where should I go? Maybe I should just follow the same path as always? But that path has basically no monsters most of the time, so raising levels is troublesome. All right, I'll take a different path today.

Saying so, I went straight instead of going left which is my usual path.

After walking for about 20 minutes, I spotted an enemy. But what was strange was that it was neither a slime nor a Basilisk. It was a Skeleton.

『Hmm? Is that a skeleton? Then that should mean different monsters appear in near this place. Looks like I've chosen a better path than usual but first, ⟨Appraisal⟩』

Species: Skeleton Warrior

Level: 3

HP: 10/10

MP: 5/5

Ohh! Appraisal is now showing more details huh! It's only a bit more though. But still it's better to know my opponents' stats, even if it's just the HP and MP, rather than nothing.

With just 10 HP he's just a small fry. He's a bit stronger than a slime so I'll give it that. But I'll not repeat that terrible mistake of underestimating my opponent ever again!

Wisdom-sama, I know I don't even need to confirm this but still, what are my chances of winning against him?

『Answer. 100% chance』

Thought so.... I wonder why? Defeating him feels like just bullying the weak at this point. The difference in strength is just too much.

But I have to do this! This is the first time I'm facing an opponent weaker than myself (not including the slimes, because you know, they're small fries even among small fries), so I can't let this chance go!

Take this, Shiro Punch!!!! No I'm sorry, please forget it. That was just me being overly enthusiastic.

*clank* *clank* *clank*

This was the story of "The Skeleton Who Died Without Knowing Anything".

No, please forget that as well. Haah... Looks like I'm finally going crazy after 5 days of nothing but monologues and having no one to talk to other than the world's most terrible conversation partner.

In other words.... I'm just too lonely!!! Is there no one here?! Not even a single person with whom I can talk to?!!

『Skill ⟨Solitude Resistance Lv.1⟩ has been acquired』

Shut up, you damn idiot who can't read the mood!!!!!

Or rather, Solitude Resistance? The heck does that mean? I can't believe even a skill is making fun of me...

I wonder why? Solitude Resistance is supposed to make me feel a little less lonely, but why do I feel lonelier than before? I'll seriously cry here you know?!

Haah... Well, there's nothing I can do about it so let's keep walking forward. I really want to get out of this damn place and meet some real people. There has to humans in this world.

There has to be, right? There's no way humans don't exist in this world right...?

Wisdom-sama!!! Please tell me whether there are humans in this world.

『Answer. There are humans in this world』

Thank goodness....

『However, there are no humans in this dungeon. There are no humans on this continent as well』

......

All my hopes of meeting humans got shattered into oblivion by those few words.

『Humans exist in a different continent which is separated from this continent』

Yeah, right. Why don't you simply tell me that God hates me? I would believe it, you know?

Or rather, I can meet humans once I leave this continent and go to their continent right?

『Affirmative. However, it is impossible to leave this dungeon unless the dungeon is cleared. Only after the dungeon is cleared, will Master be able to leave this dungeon and then leave this continent』

....I should've known.

Just when I thought I'd somehow look for a way to escape from this place and go meet humans, all of my hopes were crushed mercilessly by the person who can't read the mood.

In the first place, what the hell is up this place? I can't leave without clearing this dungeon? How do I even clear a dungeon? By killing the Boss of this dungeon? Can I even defeat him in the first place? I bet he's a million times stronger than that Giant Basilisk I barely managed to defeat the other day.

I had a lot of questions but they were immediately solved by Wisdom-sama.

『Answer. This dungeon is known as Tartaros. This dungeon is a prison used for imprisoning Gods』

Wait, don't just start spewing information like that. I heard some really important details in them.

Let me organise the information first. This dungeon is used as a prison for Gods. Wait, don't tell me...

『Answer. Since this dungeon is acting as a prison for an Evil God right now, the Boss of this dungeon is that Evil God』

......... All right, let's see what this guy's Magic Stone gives me. Let's put aside all the dungeon this and God that and do what we came here for.

Hmm? You say I'm trying to forget about the fact that I can't leave this dungeon unless I defeat a genuine God? No no, you're wrong you know? Hahaha....

I could just give a dry laugh at this point. I break the magic stone in my hand.

『Skill ⟨Night Vision Lv. 1⟩ has been acquired』

『Skill ⟨Punching Lv.1⟩ has been acquired』

『Skill ⟨Throwing Lv. 1⟩ has been acquired』

『Skill ⟨Swordsmanship Lv. 1⟩ has been acquired』

『Skill ⟨Poison Resistance⟩ has been raised from level 2 to 3』

『Skill ⟨Physical Resistance⟩ has been raised from level 5 to 6』

Heeh... You gave pretty useful skills instead of being a small fry. I appreciate my Poison and Physical Resistance increasing as well.

But the best skill from the new ones has to be the ⟨Night Vision⟩. Now I can clearly look in the darkness. ⟨Punching⟩ and ⟨Throwing⟩ are pretty useful too since I mainly use punches and kicks to attack.

But what can I gain from this Swordsmanship skill? I'm a Drake right now, so there's no way I can hold a sword. Not right now at the very least. If I ever manage to gain a human body then it'd be one of my most useful skills for sure. If that's the case then I'd better level this skill up for now.

The skeleton was carrying a sword with him which he never got the chance to use. This was the result after appraising it.

『Result. ⟨⟨Rusty Copper Sword⟩⟩: ⟨⟨It is a sword made out of the cheapest material— copper. It is chipped on the edges and has a high chance of breaking after taking a couple of hits⟩⟩』

As expected of skeletons, their equipment is terrible as well. Well there's no way they'd be walking around carrying national treasures so it makes sense. I might be able to use it for some reason or another in the future so I'll store it in Dimensional Storage for now.

Now let's keep raising levels. Ahh... Now that I think about it, I've been good at kendo on Earth so maybe the Swordsmanship skill will be a good match if I get a human body.

As I was thinking this, I saw two more skeletons at a distance. They were probably warriors as well, so they're no match against me. The skills that I gained just gained a few moments back, increased by two levels after I broke the magic stones.

『At this rate, I'll end up maxing out these skills very soon』

But still, I wonder why they're scattered all over... They're weak monsters so shouldn't they stay in groups and attack? Any ideas, Wisdom-sama?

『Answer. There is a possibility of the individuals being a reconnaissance unit』

I see! There's a chance that these guys are simply keeping watch. Then it makes sense why they are scattered over a wide area!

Wait... I've already defeated around 8 of these guys and I can tell that there are many more around. If they are sending out these many guys just for reconnaissance, then could it be that their main army numbers more than 50?!

Fufufu, I think this battle is gonna be a lot more fun than I imagined it to be. All right! Bring it on, you sh*tty skeletons!!

Ah, I think this one is the tenth right? If that's the case, then these four skills will be the first skills that I've managed to get to Lv.10. Nevertheless, I'm super curious!

As I was thinking this, Wisdom-sama's voice echoed in my head.

『Skill ⟨Night Vision⟩ has been raised from level 9 to 10. Skill ⟨Night Vision⟩ has evolved into skill ⟨Perfect Vision⟩』

『Skill ⟨Punching⟩ has been raised from level 9 to 10. Skill ⟨Punching⟩ has evolved into skill ⟨Close-Combat Techniques⟩』

『Skill ⟨Throwing⟩ has been raised from level 9 to 10』

『Skill ⟨Swordsmanship⟩ has been raised from level 9 to 10. Skill ⟨Swordsmanship⟩ has evolved into skill ⟨Advanced Swordsmanship⟩』

I want to try out these skills so badly but first, Wisdom-sama, explanation please.

『Result. ⟨Perfect Vision⟩: ⟨⟨It provides the user with an advanced eyesight. When this skill is active, dynamic viewing is possible and the user can also see through illusions or clones⟩⟩』

『Result. ⟨Close-Combat Techniques⟩: ⟨⟨The skill helps the user to land strong hits efficiently and increases the user's close-combat skills with the minimum movement of the body. This skill also increases the strength of the user in battle⟩⟩』

『Result: ⟨Advanced Swordsmanship⟩: ⟨⟨Increases the swordsmanship skills of the user drastically⟩⟩』

Aren't these skills actually pretty strong? Is it happening? It's happening, right? God has finally taken a liking to me and is giving me some cheats, right? Am I really allowed to be this lucky?

Looks I got so excited after realising that I acquired some really useful skills, that I unconsciously made a guts pose. If I were out on the street right now, I would've immediately been dubbed as a weirdo. But I'm inside a dungeon and there's no one else here aside from me!

Well, let's check these new skills out. First, the ⟨Throwing⟩ skill.

I picked up a pebble, about 50 cm in diameter, and threw it at a huge rock which was as big as my body.

The stone hit the huge rock and an explosive sound, as if multiple trees had fallen down at the same time, echoed in the entire area. When the dust cloud cleared up, the scene in front of me left me speechless.

The huge rock, which was present there just a few moments back, has been turned into rubble. The stone I threw is nowhere to be found.

『Hmm... This skill is dangerous... but it will be pretty useful in battles』

I've gained an overpowered skill without even realising. But still, I have a feeling that there are a lot of monsters who are strong enough to not only withstand that hit, but also come out unscathed even after getting hit with that.

That's precisely why I need to get stronger. To survive in this hell and see the outside world, I will become stronger. I've already decided to keep on living in this world after all. If possible, I'd like to find a way to return back to my own world... but there's no place for someone like me, who has neither parents nor relatives, to return to.

Well, enough of that, let's take a look at the next skill, the ⟨Close-Combat Techniques⟩.

『Err, a rock... I need a rock to test this out. Where to find a rock.... Ahh, there it is』

I decided to test out the skill on a huge rock which is a bit smaller than the last one.

I activated the skill, clenched my fist, gathered all my strength into it and struck the rock with all my might. I don't really think it was necessary to hit it with all of my strength but... I guess I got carried away in the excitement.

Just like earlier, I had to wait for the dust cloud, which was formed after my punch hit the rock, to clear up. And also just like earlier, watching the fate of my target, I became speechless.

The rock which I expected to have a hole through it... vanished.

No no, it's not a metaphor or an exaggeration. It has literally vanished. The rock is no longer there and the place where the rock originally was, is just covered in numerous small pebbles.

『... Just a single punch? I pulverised an entire rock as big as myself with just a punch?』

Man, I'm so glad I chose the Drake species. This level of strength is all thanks to the effects of the Drake species.

You may be wondering that with this level of strength I can overwhelm most of the enemies right? If you're thinking so, then you're gravely mistaken. I'm pretty sure most of the enemies here can do more outrageous things than what I did, and that too effortlessly.

Anyways, Rock-san, you were a worthy opponent. Thanks to you, I was able to assess my strength. Thank you very much for everything you have done until now. May you rest in pieces, Rock-san.

Ah... I got derailed from the topic again. Now let's test the other new skills. Well, even though I said that, there's not much left to try out now.

Be it ⟨Swordsmanship⟩ or ⟨Advanced Swordsmanship⟩, it's impossible without a human body.

Now that I come to think about it, I was pretty good at kendo on Earth. So maybe I still have the experience I gained over the years? I really hope that's the case. Then I'll be able to use the Advanced Swordsmanship skill pretty well even if I don't have any experience in this world.

Then, about ⟨Perfect Vision⟩, I don't think there are illusions or clones nearby but still... Wisdom-sama, activate it.

As soon as I said that, I felt like I could watch all around me at once. I don't know how it's possible but I can see everything happening around me in a particular distance.

『Ohh, this is amazing! It feels like I'm watching myself from a third-person perspective but, at the same time it doesn't』

This one's pretty useful for avoiding ambushes, if there are any. I'll be keeping this active all the time.

Now, onwards with skeleton hunting! After that, nothing worthy of note happened since all the Skeleton Warriors were immediately crushed in one hit.

Haah... Are there only Skeleton Warriors here? I totally thought there would be a high-leveled boss or something like that among them. More so when they were sending out their units for reconnaissance.

I don't get any skills anymore because they're already maxed out. But one in every ten or twelve skeletons give out resistance skills.

『Skill ⟨Poison Resistance⟩ has increased from level 9 to 10. Skill ⟨Poison Resistance⟩ has evolved into skill ⟨Poison Immunity⟩』

『Skill ⟨Physical Resistance⟩ has increased from level 9 to 10. Skill ⟨Physical Resistance⟩ has evolved into skill ⟨Physical Attack Nullification⟩』

『Skill ⟨Acid Resistance⟩ has increased from level 9 to 10. Skill ⟨Acid Resistance⟩ has evolved into skill ⟨Acid Immunity⟩』

Eh? Immunity? Nullification? Could it be... poison, acid and physical attacks can't hurt me anymore!?

So if I can max out the other resistance type skills, then will they evolve into immune types as well?

『Answer. That is correct』

What the hell is with this extremely convenient information!!!? All right! I've decided! Top priority mission after I'm done with all this skeleton issue: max out resistance type skills.

Hmm... most of my skills went up by 1 or 2 levels. My current level is 5 huh. Oh, looks like the skills which have reached level 10 but haven't evolved into a superior skill, have their level counter removed. Well, makes sense. You don't need to keep track of the level if it's already maxed out.

But some of the old skills have evolved into superior skills and have a new counter starting from level 1. I guess I can still level them up as they are new skills now.

After I was done checking my status, I started walking once more. I've already come quite fast away from my home but I can get back easily.

After walking for a while, I finally found a huge, deep cave which was clearly different from any of the caves. It was so dark inside the cave that I couldn't even see the end of it.

But what made me sure were the two skeletons standing in front of the cave. Though they were a bit different than the ones I came across until now, I was pretty sure that this was the lair of the skeletons.

『All right, this is the final faceout against the skeletons. Bring it on, you sh*tty skeletons!!』
