I am Amel Del Lavine.
I have finally come to terms with this. It was quite difficult for me to accept my current situation. Never in my life did I expect that I would be reborn as a small-time villain in a trashy romance novel.
Needless to say, I've been cooped up in my luxurious room for the last week. My maids along with my mother as well as the Healer have been constantly visiting me to check up on me, though I have yet to meet the rest of the family.
Apart from her mother – Duchess Agatha Del Lavine, Amel's family consisted of her father – Duke Abel George Del Lavine, and her twin older brothers – Jeffrey Del Lavine and Geordo Del Lavine.
When Amel's mother last visited me, she told me that Amel's father and brothers are out for an expedition and will be returning soon. That means that I have to evaluate my situation as soon as possible.
I quickly got up from my bed and went up to the desk. Luckily, it was still daylight so I didn't have to ask the maids to light up the candles.
So...where should I begin?
I died in an accident in my previous life and now I have been reborn as Amel Del Lavine – a side Character and a minor villainess in the romance web novel called 'The Rose of the Eden Garden Academy.'
She is the only daughter as well as the youngest child of the Del Lavine household. Being the youngest child, it was quite obvious that she was spoiled way too much by her family. She was indeed raised like a princess.
Her characteristics may make her appear as a cliché villainess, but to be honest – she's not. She's just a side character who doesn't even make it till the second half of the book before being mercilessly murdered by the final boss – also known as her fiancé – Theodore Brian Palmer, the duke's son.
The novel officially begins when the female lead turns 16 and enters the academy.
I asked Noell about the current year and she said that it was Year 294 of the Imperial Calendar. That means that I have roughly around 6 years before the events of the novel start to take place, and it also meant that Amel's, or rather my body now is 10 years old.
Luckily, I took over Amel's body before she starts doing these stupid things that eventually gets her killed.
So, the book has five important characters including the female lead. Amel, on the other hand, is just a disposable character – just there to take the plot forward.
Moving on, the heroine of the female lead of the novel is Melissa Van Daviallo – the white lotus, damsel in distress, and innocent beauty of the Eden Garden Academy, hence the name of the novel. She was previously a commoner before being adopted by Count Daviallo because she saved his life with her light magic. Quite a payback, I must say.
Then comes the first male lead – the crown prince of our Kingdom of Auroville – Augustus Euric Nortan. He first met the female lead in the academy. He fell for her because she didn't go all gaga over him at first glance and saw him for who he was. Quite cliché, right? Black-hearted prince, who doesn't give a fuck about anyone but goes absolute bat shit crazy when the female lead treats him like a normal person. I've seen this particular trope a bazillion times.
Now, moving on towards the second male lead and that is – Eustace Hann Clovis, the Marques's son and the head of the merchant guild. He met the female lead on her debutante ball. The both of them started off as friends, and along the way, Eustace fell for Melissa's kind and compassionate self. Sadly, he didn't get the girl in the end. After all, he was the second male lead – destined to watch the female lead fall in love with the male lead. I sympathize with this guy the most. Poor dude deserved better.
Now moving on towards the third male lead – Aleric John Wolfe. He came from a fallen noble family and was adopted by Amel's family to be her companion after his parent's death. He was also trained to be a knight and accompanied Amel to the academy as her bodyguard. He too meets the female lead in the academy and fell in love with her because she treated him with respect and didn't discriminate against him, unlike Amel, who treated him like a piece of garbage. He was no better than a slave for her. In the end, he conspired with the final boss and murdered her.
Last but not the least, we have our final boss. The villain of our story. The one who kills Amel – the son of the Duke of Palmer duchy – Theodore Brian Palmer. He got engaged with Amel when they were 11 years old. Now here comes the interesting part. Though their engagement was arranged by their respective families, Amel loved that guy will all her heart. She stayed loyal to him even though he gave her the cold shoulder every time they were together. So just imagine how she felt when her fiancé, who has never smiled at her, started giving those lovely gazes to Melissa. She tried to stop him from going after Melissa but ended up dying in the process.
Amel truly had a pitiful ending even after having such a loving and powerful family. In all of this, her fault was falling for the wrong guy.
I sighed tiredly while getting up from my desk. I think I have written down all the information needed for now. Since the events of the novel kick-off when all the characters enter the academy, I can just rest for now and let the events take place peacefully without interfering in them. I'm just a side character anyway. My being there or not won't make any difference.
I promise you, Amel. Now that I have taken your place, I will make sure that we will live a peaceful and fulfilling life.
