"Don't…"
Before Alexandra could compose herself, the soft and hoarse voice of Maximus made her tears dry enough for her to look at his face.
"Maximus…" she placed her shaking hand on his cheek. "How are you-"
She stopped as he tried to speak. But he couldn't speak and started coughing.
"Wait…I'll…" Alexandra stood erect and turned in a hurry. "I'll bring water!"
"Care-ful…"
Maximus' hoarse pleading was interrupted with a cough. He stretched his limbs a little and slowly scooted to sit up.
"One moment," Alexandra trodded to the table where she kept warm water ready for when he would wake up. She composed her shaking hands and poured the water into the glass only to realize that the water has gone lukewarm.
She almost cursed out loud for her stupidity to let the water go cold.
