After what had seemed like hours, or maybe days, we finally finished.
Facts spiral in my head, knowing I wont be able to remember all of this information.
"Just to make sure, everything that we talked about here will be available in my world to look at, anytime I want to look at what you said. All I have to do is ask DDS or Death Domain Service, correct?" I questioned.
"Correct. I thought about making this when you were sleeping. I talked to the others about it and they all thought it was a good idea," Crystal said
"So every new deity besides the DS or Domain service, gets their own specialized network that helps you with the ins and outs of what you're supposed to do, and helps you with information about your world. It gives quests and information that only pertains to you, and this Network links up with my DDS so it's easier to navigate?" I summarize.
"Correct," Crystal answers.
"Wow that's … a lot" I say
Bast claps their hands together, "Well it seems that we are all done here. Now the last step is to go up and turn into a death domain by touching the tree," Bast said sweetly
"Oh, I wonder what you'll be! If it's a reptile, then we can be scale buddies! Oh, or you could be a mammal like Bast and Deer! Or you could be an insect like Crystal! There are so many choices, I can't wait! You might even get a name like Crystal or Deer did! If you don't get one then you can choose one like me and Bast!" Naga excitedly said, bouncing up and down like a ping pong ball. Zei were saying things at an increasing speed that it was almost hard to keep up with.
I look at the tree that was once glowing with beauty, and now it seemed daunting. Looming over me as something that will change my life forever. I'll only know whether or not the change is good after it's taken place.
.
"I'm kinda nervous. What if... what if I'm not good at this whole shtick? I could end up having my personality change to fit my role, which is kinda threatening. I mean I could totally change as a person. I wouldn't be... well... me. A- And what if-"
I suddenly feel arms around me, circling me in a hug
"Shhh it'll be okay. Everything will be just fine. We can stay here as long as you want," Bast purrs
"I- no, you're right. Everything will be fine." I hug Bast back, take a deep breath, and then let go.
"Okay I think I'm good now. Wish me luck..." I sighed as I started to walk up to the tree. The closer I got, the tug of my very existence guided me, pulled me there.
"You'll do fine," Bask said with a smile.
"Yeah, you'll be great!" Naga agreed, waving zir hand back and forth rapidly while zei jumped.
"Good luck," Crystal stated, slightly nodding.
"Hmmmm..." Deer hummed with agreement to Bast and Naga's comment.
I walked up to the tree until I was only an arms length away, before pausing. Taking a deep breath I touched the tree with my hand. The world around me fell apart like reality itself was being broken into tiny pieces like shattered glass, leaving only a pitch black void. This place was almost like the Abyss, except the ground is also black. While investigating the feeling of Curiosity replaced my fear entirely.
Without moving, I start to look around, observing where I am. At the very corner of my eye I see a yellow glow. I turn around curiously, and what I see is a giant blonde crow. My head is the size of its big hazel eyes. Its eyes hold a glint of wisdom beyond time. It has sharp feathers flowing perfectly from the eyes to the body. It almost looks too perfect.. The crows feathers emit a soft ethereal golden glow.
Without it opening its beak it speaks to me, in a rich and disembodied voice. "Hello, child. I have waited, long for this time to come. Your name shall be Neph, the god of death, curiosity, and playful mischief. It will be a pleasure for you to be my avatar, young Neph." It said in a rich and fruity voice.
"Is my personality going to change as a result of my transformation?" I questioned.
"You didn't want to be held back by fear, and instead, wanted back your childish curiosity. Therefore your state will be of an ever curious and mischievous, child-like state," the crow answered.
"Does that mean my human form will be like a child like Naga?" I inquired.
"Ah, the snake avatar? Hmm, I suppose so, though you might not be as young as the snake avatar is. Zir's wish was to go back to a time where they were innocent of body, mind, and soul. Their past experiences made ze think of zirself as tainted and corrupted by another," It answered solemnly. The crow lowered itself so it was sitting in front of me with a sad look in its big eyes.
I paused at that, thinking of what had been said to me. I decided that knowing this information wouldn't help anyone, as Naga has already moved on, and bringing it up would do more harm than good.
"The others haven't talked about this when they transformed. Is this something new?" I asked, trying to sedate my new found and ever growing curiosity.
"In simple terms, no. This isn't something new. This is more of something every domain forgets as they finish their transformation. They take what you learned here as something that popped into their head right after they had touched the Origin, or in your case, the giant wisteria tree." It explained.
"So I wont remember you?" I mumbled sadly, taking that this crow is basically my predecessor considering I am now going to fulfill its job of being the crow god of death
"No young one, you will not remember me," the crow answered
"Well even if I will forget you, can I know your name at least?" I ask hoping that I will maybe remember a bit of this experience even if it's for nothing
The crows eyes widened for a second before crinkling in amusement, "Sure young one, my name is Corve.
"Now, I'm sure you're curious about the world you will govern with other deities, am I right?" it asked amused, as it seemed to already know my answer.
"Yes!" I answered, excited to know what kind of world I'll be in. I sit down as my legs start to get a bit tired. Staring up at the massive crow, I pay the utmost attention.
The crow makes a mix between a chuckling and a cawing noise from my actions, "Okay, young one. The world you will be in is ruled by humans. This is a world based on the rule of survival of the fittest. Humans live in colonies, where the person with the most power has to be the strongest. Whether that strength has to be physical brute, smarts, or politics is dependent on the colony."
"The word you shall rule with other domains shall be a small planet of 50% water, " the crow started.
