Chereads / Adela: Reign of the half alpha / Chapter 2 - The trial: for the sake of love

Chapter 2 - The trial: for the sake of love

The code of the royals had been broken and the seat to the throne will have no pure heir forever. How could she betray her bloodline? To love a commoner, a betrayer of the throne, had she forgotten what royalty meant? Maybe William was different, the way he cared and showed her love, but how did his love pierced her heart? Threaten the royal throne and put her on trial. As she stood awaiting their judgment, her heartfelt for William, what will be his fate? Will they ask her to choose between love and the throne? The only thing her heart could see is the beauty of the child in her, the half alpha, Will he Reign or be ruined? Maybe without a father.

But Adela knew this day would come and she had prepared her heart to stand her trial, to bear the child and damn the judgment of her act; the power of the royal bloodline has been stained with the blood of a commoner. Her father the king of the Royals, sat and watched as his only child fell to the cold hands of love, she might lose her place as a princess, one that is to sit on the throne of royals, the first female king.

To the council of royals, preservation of the royal bloodline is more important than the princess standing trial, they felt betrayed, to them a princess carrying a child with a mixed bloodline cannot rule as their king. As they went on debating among themselves, the king gazed at his beautiful daughter, now housing a delicate life in her womb, he wished she had listened to his words. He remembered the night he caught them talking affectionately, with fire in their eyes, such fire that could lite a splint, they stood close to each other and whisper words only their hearts could understand, the distance between them gave way and they held each other closely, his hands were around her waist and their lips were almost locked together, From the distance where he stood, he could tell that Adela had fallen. That night his anger was unleashed, he ordered the guard to put William in chains and be thrown in prison, never to see the light of day forever, for two months he had remained a prisoner hoping that someday the mercy of the king will come.

Adela!!! he roared

Are there no kings and princes anymore?

Why my daughter?

To disgrace my name?

You should be seen with kings and not a commoner.

That night, he locked her up in her room and warned her about how her actions could taint the glory of the royals. Months later, for several weeks, Adela pleaded day and night with her father, she begged for his freedom and promised never to see him again, He objected at first, but he could no longer stand to see the happiness of his daughter stolen, he knew he had to grant her demand and set William free, but he ordered him never to set foot on the palace again. He thought he had broken the bond of love and that his greatest fear had been settle, But If only he knew that love knows no distance and the heart always long for its lover.

The council kept whispering among themselves, he could tell that the judgment will not be good, He tried to Put his fear to sleep and wear some courage, his fear that the throne of the royal will be lost to one of the councils of royals, maybe to the Richmond or the Cromwell family (a family of great valour both families has trained great soldiers for the king over the years). They had opposed the idea of a female king and to them, this will only show weakness. As he wallow in thought, he heard the voice of Cromwell.

Your Majesty,

Your majesty,

We have our verdict,

The king looked towards him and ask him to proceed.

Your majesty, the act of the princess has made her unfit for the throne,

she either choose to be married to a royal and the royal will rule in her stead or lose her place as royal.

And for William he will have to face the gallows, to serve as a warning to the commoners. As these words were altered by Cromwell the king could not stand to hear them, he thought of the pain of giving his daughter out to a power-hungry royal and what will become of his daughter after he is long gone, maybe forgiveness is hard, but a hard heart is worst.

Enough he screamed,

I will not allow my daughter to be made a slave in the hands of the council, is the princess now a to be shared among u?

the shame she brought us all has pierced the very heart of our being,

but we all know that as royals we are bonded by blood,

I am disappointed in us all,

my daughter will not be forced to marry anyone.

There was complete salience in centre court, but they have all made up their mind, that the princess must not inherit the throne. The king ended the meeting that day without accepting their verdict, he ordered that Adela remain in her room.

He stays awake that night, with many thoughts running through his heart, Cromwell had told him one night that the only way he will support the king is if he allows the princess to be married to his son Phillip, But he knows Cromwell cannot be trusted. Who will take care of his daughter when he is dead, what will become of her? Maybe I should talk to Williams or the head of the guard to help protect my daughter, he stayed awake late into the night and finally fell asleep.

That night after the gathering of royals, Cromwell had a secret meeting with the dark arrow at his castle (a sect of assassins, known to be very deadly), he had created the sect from some group of fine soldiers he secretly trained and had used them to carry out many assassinations.

The King must pay with his life for dishonouring the royal council,

tonight he dies,

tonight we restore the glory of the throne,

we cannot stand this shame,

We must take the throne and establish our reign with dignity.

He assigned two assassins to kill the king and another two to the house of Richmond.

That night the two assassins gained access into the kings' palace through the north wing. The palace is a three-storey layout with four wings (north, south, west and east wings) each wing has a watchtower, the main gate to the palace is located on the east wing, the entrance to the palace led directly to the room of abundance, two well-furnished tables are arranged facing each other with chairs placed about them, the walls are well decorated with pictures of ancient kings. Next to the room of abundance is the art room and located centrally in the courtroom. East to the courtroom are rooms for visitors, the west wing is made up of a music room and a very large room (the war room). The north wing has a staircase that led to another floor and also serve as a storeroom and kitchen for the ground floor. The first floor serves as an administrative floor, while the second floor houses the king's relative. The topmost part is solely for the king and his family. The king's bedroom is located on the north wing and beside it is the throne room. There is a passageway in the front of the king's bedroom, with a window at the end of the wall, two guards are stationed at the window.

The assassins shot an arrow at the soldier on the north watchtower and climbed the wall swiftly with a rope, they slew the throat of the guards on the ground and head straight for the window on the north, they climbed the Wall and from behind grabbed the mouth of the two guards stationed on the window and stab them hard on the chest. They carefully entered the king bedroom and killed the king in his sleep.
