Chapter 25 - The Abandoned Building

*** The memory of Albert***

The six of them got divided into two groups and started to discuss the strategy.

In the night,

Albert was in his room at midnight, he tiptoed to his brother's room and his brother had already slept, he woke him up to go.

Albert and Austin got together to wake up Aliyah and she too got up to go out. The mansion was empty at the moment as their mother was on a business trip and the housemaids had retired to their room.

There were not many guards, so they swiftly sneaked out of their mansion. They walked on the pathway, their school was near their mansion, so, it did not take a lot of time to reach the pathway to the cottage near the river.

Everyone was waiting for them.

Eira was dressed in pink pajamas and Ethan was draped in yellow pajamas.

"Looks like we are at some pajamas party" Albert said as he checked everyone's pajamas.

The pajamas on their body cost a bomb. They were highly branded pajamas.

If anyone would kidnap them, by only selling their pajamas the kidnappers could become millionaires, Albert thought.

Everyone laughed as they noticed everyone was dressed in pajamas and slippers.

They got into two groups as they made their way to the abandoned building.

They stood near the entrance of the three storied building, they looked up at the building. They gulped and climbed the gate as it was locked.

"Let's go," Ethan said as he glanced at everyone. They were dusting off the dust of their butts.

They divided into two teams,

"Ethan, you enter from the front door, my team will enter through the back door" Eira said as she made her way to the backside of the building.

Everyone nodded.

Eira , Albert and Dash walked to the backside, their feet stamping the dried leaves on the ground, the creepy sound of the rustling sound of the leaves filled the night. Their breath hitched as they noticed the bushes and the tree leaves flying as a strong wind blew towards them.

They shivered.

Eira rubbed her palms as the cold wind passed.

"Umm, Albert-t, Eira, is-s there no-no topic-c to talk about-t?" Dash asked, his voice quivering.

"You are scared" Eira laughed as she looked at Dash who was trembling due to fear and cold.

"Well, I have a small story" she chuckled as a devilish smirk took over her lips.

Albert looked at her and shook his head and looked at Dash sympathetically.

"Okay, the story is about a couple who moved into a house, which was pretty old, the house belonged to an old man, who lived alone..." she started but was interrupted by Dash who hugged Albert and said,

"This better not be a horror story or I will..." he yelled.

Eira chuckled evilly and stopped in front of a small old wooden door of the building. The paint of the wooden door had faded and it had some cracks too. It was locked with a small lock.

Eira touched the small rusted lock.

"It can easily be broken" she said as she looked around to see if there were some stones around. She found a huge stone, which could easily break the lock.

She walked towards the rock.

"This will help" she said as she pointed at the rock.

Albert nodded as he bent to pick up the stone, the stone was quite heavy, he smashed the lock with the rock. The lock broke and Eira opened the door.

The door opened making a cracking sound.

They walked in the corridor, the white walls had a tinge of yellow on them and the paint had been shredded.

The musty smell of the building drifted in their nostrils, making them sneeze continuously for a minute. Eira waved her hands to dust off, as she coughed.

"So much dust," she said.

"Yeah" Dash nodded.

They quickly walked and passed the corridor and went to the hall. The hall had a lot of couches covered in white cloth.

The hall was empty, Eira walked towards the front door and it was opened.

"They already entered," Eira said as she turned to look up the stairs and there she saw their footprints.

"They are upstairs," she said, pointing to the footprints.

"Let's go to our floor" Albert said as he climbed the stairs.

They had decided that the First floor was Ethan's while the second floor belonged to Eira's team. They walked slowly with their feet making cracking sounds as they stepped on the old wooden steps.

They reached the second floor. They noticed that there were 5 rooms on that floor. They chose a huge room for the night.

The room had a musty odor. There was drab, vile, green wallpaper; dark green contrasting curtains; a wide, thin rug with tassels on. A wooden rocking chair sat in the corner, furnished with an old, dilapidated cushion. A small, coal fireplace graced one wall beneath was a white, marble mantelpiece. On top of the mantelpiece danced porcelain figurines and ornaments. On the walls of the old room was a portrait of a family, consisting of an old man, an old woman and a young lady around 30 years old, carrying a small baby girl. There was a small boy on the ground playing with his toy plane. Their smiles brightened up the portrait.

Eira looked out of the ornate window, she could see the small cottage faraway and the river and the small forest which was lit with fireflies.

"This place is awesome" Eira whistles as she sat on the couch and looked at the place with admiration, she liked the minimalist style of the room.

"Yes, the furniture is good too, not yet damaged, if we sell these things in an auction we can fetch a good price for it" Albert exclaimed as he looked at the designs of the furniture, the old ebony wood.

"Carving of these furniture is out of this world, unique and historic" he explained as he traced the patterns of the carvings on the wood.

"The owner must have been rich" he guessed as these designs were carved with hands as he could tell by tracing the texture and carvings.
