Chapter 1 - A smiling face, A broken soul

She looked at the mansion, which belonged to her, a small smile broke on her face, and her eyes held the sadness, which she could not deny.

She picked her bag from the ground, which was thrown by her main maid, whom she trusted the most. She threw the small bag on her shoulders and left the place, as her eyes started to rain the sadness in her heart, which she was feeling.

After walking a few miles away from the mansion, a gang appeared in front of her red eyes, the last string of hope and love, left, as they approached her.

The man with bulky body neared her, a bat in his hand, followed by others as they encircle her. Her expressionless face broke into a smile, causing them to have goosebumps.

The man trembled under her fierce gaze, but he gathered all his courage,

"Beat her up until she dies" he ordered chuckling at the end.

Her smile grew wider as the bat neared her arm, she grabbed the bat and broke it into two part and threw it on the ground. Before everyone could react, her legs flew in the air and hit the guy nearest to her on the neck, he fell on the ground, senseless. She flung her hand and legs in the air, hitting every man's weak point, making them go unconscious. It happened so quick that the men were left still. The last man stood there like a statue as his gaze checked his comrades.

She neared him, and pat on his back and whispered,

"Tell them, the comeback is always stronger than the setback. She will come back to take her belongings"

She left the man and walked in the endless darkness, aimless.

......

5 years later,

The singing of birds woke her from the deep slumber. She looked at the clock hanging on the stone wall,

"Shit, the old man gonna kill me" she cursed as she jumped from her bed, and made her way to the bathroom.

She bowed and apologized to the people sitting on the dining table, where they were being served.

"What should be the punishment for waking up late, princess?" the man sitting like a king on the old wooden chair asked as he smoothed down his long grey beard.

"Cleaning up the garden and running 10 times around the mountain" she answered her head hanging low.

The man nodded, and she knew she had to clean up the garden and run around the mountain, 10 times after having the breakfast.

She joined the table, she looked at the green leaves, a black soup whose smell was horrible and few nuts on her plate. She ate the horrible food which her tongue was used to.

The 10000 square feet garden, was lush green, the bitter and minty smell filled the air around the garden.

She inhaled the smell of the herbs, the garden was mix of poisonous and benevolent herbs, the smell and their tiny leaves were the only way to differentiate them. Her eyes and nose turned into alert mode as she cleaned the garden for the whole afternoon.

Eira left the garden and ran around the huge mountain called Offish Mountain.

After spending the whole day on her punishment, Eira went to her master's cabin, she knocked on the old pine wood door, with several patterns carved on it, her fair, pale hands traced the various patterns, until the door opened, revealing, a young boy, with green eyes and black hair. He opened the door wide, to let the girl in, and him out.

Eira bowed to the old man, who was seated on the wooden chair facing the window, which gave the view of the snowy, Offish Mountain, and the lush green herb garden.

"Eira May Wilson, the granddaughter of my old friend, Max Wilson" he breathed.

"He had sent me a letter telling me to take his granddaughter, when she would be left with nothing, he asked me to teach you and lead you until you could stand on your own" the man continued as if recalling the memories of his old friend. A sad smile on his face.

"I bought you and taught you, as he told me to, now I believe you can lead your own life and do what you have to, I allow you to leave the Flakes Island and go where you belong" the man turned to face the young lady.

Eira nodded, her face bearing no emotions.

The old man rummaged through the drawer and took out an envelope which had turned yellow due to its old age.

She took the envelope but the old man signalled her to open it later.

She left the cabin and made her way to her small room. The room was so small which could only fit a small wooden bed and a small table and a chair. She pulled a suitcase which was laid beneath the bed and put the envelope on the bottom of the case, she put her cloths, 2 t-shirts and 2 pants and 2 sets of lingerie, and a heavy coat. She placed some books which were written by her on the top of the cloths. she cleaned herself in the public bathroom at the end of the corridor and covered herself in woolen cloths and gave a last look to her room and left the stone building.

She walked miles, to reach the deserted station. The station was deserted, she could hardly find people on the station. She sat on the bench in the cold. A man dressed in a cop uniform came to her and offered her a tea and asked her to wait in the cabin where the heater was on.

She politely declined the man and waited for the train to arrive. The cop looked puzzled but did not force the lady as he noticed the tattoo of a Unalome. This tattoo was carved on the students of the Unalome head, Master Aquilo. The cop bowed and left the young lady.

The disciples of the master Aquila are treated with respect in the Flakes Island, as they save the natives and help in the Island, which was always frozen, and seeing the sunlight was blessing, as it was seen only once in decades.

The disciples help the natives from the wild animals, diseases and disasters as the Island was prone to most disasters.
