Chapter 5 - Chapter 4

His routine was a simple one each day as the CEO of a multimillion naira shipping transportation services. Adebola hated complexities, hence he ensured his life was not complicated. He comes to work daily by 9am, taking his breakfast immediately he arrives. Reviews strategies for improvement on their pre existing services and entertain ideas for expansion generally. He has lunch by 2pm alone and dinner by 6pm in his office and his very loyal personal assistant Felix sees to the effective enforcement of his routines. He goes home alone by 7pm each time.

Over the last few weeks, during his leadership executive meeting which he usually holds twice a week, he started to notice Debby the pastor's "ugly" and "skinny" daughter. This annoyed him alot as she was always quiet taking notes like some secretary which obviously she was not. He did not like her disposition or the sad aura exhuming from her personality especially her eyes. They always looked sorrowful. She was too young to be looking gloomy each time they met.  He wondered who employed her in his company. Tired of the mystery, he decided to talk to her after one of the executive meeting ended.

"Miss Debby could you stay behind, I'd like to have a word with you". Debby was surprised, that she fidgeted at his request. She wondered how he got to know her name. Although she had always greeted him in Church out of courtesy, they have never exchanged pleasantries to the point that he knew her name.

After everyone cleared out of his board room with her still seated, she rose up to her feet as a sign of respect to him.

"Oh please do sit down, you are the pastor's daughter right?" He inquired nastily.

"Yes sir. I am. Am so sorry if i had done something wrong sir", I never meant to offend you sir. I am so sorry sir"  She quickly apologized. Judging from all that she had heard about Mr Adebola, she didn't want to get fired. He was temperamental and could sack anyone on any day. He had few friends and all he loved is his money. She needed the job as it kept her sane amidst her own hurt.

"Sorry for what? I have not said anything and no, you haven't done anything wrong. I just didn't realize the time you were hired." He continued scowling this time.

"I was previously at the office by the sea front. I was hired about 4 months ago as an accountant for the parcel delivery shipment department sir. I was just recently promoted here sir." Debby concluded still looking at the floor.

"Oh". Was all Adebola could mutter because she sounded intelligent and to be promoted in a space of three months must definitely be some exploits from her part.

The silence lingered on and from no where Adebola spoke "Have dinner with me by 6pm in my office." With that he walked away from his conference/board room compartment in his office to his main personal sitting area wondering why he would ask her for dinner when it was obvious she was probably thin from too much fasting.

Debby was surprised and confused as to why he would want to eat with her. She knew he ate in his office as it was also gossiped about. She left his presence gazing at the floor. At about 5:30pm, she contemplated leaving and running home as everyone had closed by 4pm. It was obvious she was nervous as she had no clue on what Mr Adebola wanted from her.

By 5:55pm, she knocked on his office door. He told her to come in, which she did. Entering his office, the enticing smell of Party Jollof rice caressed her nose and she became instantly hungry!
