Chapter 1 - A Wandering Ghost

'' — thoughts

""— words

On the streets of Winterdread City, far it maybe from the capital, it doesnt avoid the horrific crimes and dread of the world.

I lay weakly on the alleyway, holding my chest that purged out scarlet blood, I knew that my end is near.

It was a sad and disgraceful ending, but who cares?

I'm Raf, a street punk, on — society words, a trouble maker deliquent that is a burden to the world.

I wasn't particularly big on these gangs, but I was a threat, one thing I know it I got ambushed and stabbed.

It hurts, It hurts, It hurts, It feels like a flaming ember devouring my innards and flesh. I feel sad and griefed, but also relieved.

Relieved? an odd emotion put into death.

Maybe it was because I was tired of life? My life compared to others might not be total hell, but I can't take it anymore.

Call me a coward if you think so.

My mother left me when I was a child, resulting in my dad being an alcoholic over depression. Over past the time he physically abuses me.

I was scared of fighting back.

I tried hard on school, but what happened? It didnt go well, even my hardwork is nothing to my teachers.

At some point, I decided that I can't do anything, I became a street punk.

One that steals for food, fight people for a living, and live a lawless life.

Maybe it was because of the cold atmosphere, or me recalling my memories, I shed a lonely tear.

I thought to myself, since it's the end I could show my weakness right?

I bawled and griefed.

I didn't want my life to be like this.

I never wanted anything to go wrong.

I just wanted to live normally with loving parents.

But for god sake, I really...can't.

Enough of sadness, I feel my conciousness slowly blanking out. Darkness enrouches my eyes and mind.

If heaven is real, I would probably go to hell.

I smiled as my last breath took off.

Raf, age of 17, breathed his last on the alleyways of Winterdread City.

The sun rose on the city of Winterdread, the cold and peaceful morning air flows around the urban city.

Granny Monastry, lives on an rather medium sized apartment. Her wrinkled face and white hair shows her old age.

It was a morning peace, softly drinking tea while silently gazing towards a photo of a male person.

Her eyes showed emotions of nostalgia and sadness, however, her tea spilled accidentally forcing her to wake up in her trance.

She remembered all she was going to do today and stood up.

She walked out on her classic apartment on the way to the grocery store.

The nearby alleyway was there, it was route to the market.

As she walked to it, she sniffed out an odd smell, it smelled like blood — dry, specifically.

It was odd and weird.

Slowly walking towards the incospicious smell on the alleyway, her terror was realized as she was in total panic.

Lay there was a body of a young man, dried blood spread out in his clothes.

"...My, Go-Goodness!!"

By experience and wiseness, she calmed quickly and called the nearby police with her phone.

At a certain police department on Winterdread City, the telephone rang.

A tall middle-age man with a mustache beard, and fine build stood up and took the phone.

"Hello, this is 444, what seems to be the problem?"

"Officer! T-There's a body here.."

A body? like a dead body? A murder perhaps? I calmed myself to ask the caller for her location.

"Stay calm, ma'am, stay calm. I would want you — to tell us where you found the body and when?"

I knew it was a woman on the phone since it's feminity can't be undetected, more so, it's hoarseness and husky frailness makes me suspect it's an old person.

She filled out the information, of where and when, also how.

After hanging up the call, I was in a daze.

It seems that theres a big problem this time.

A dead person? It's wasn't exactly rare or anything, but it's still bad to see.

I called onto the police squad for emergency situations.

I took the radiophone on my chestpocket.

"Officer Humbleberry speaking. There seems to a emergency on here and this...."

A young person huh? How fucked up is this world?

I saw a blinding light, was it heaven? I do not know.

Next thing i know it, my conciousness is slowly operating.

My mind was groggy like my eyes so, It was like waking up from a long sleep.

I slowly saw what's in front of me.

It was a familiar place.

It's snowy and white terrain is the icon of Winterdread City.

I couldnt hold my disbelief.

I died, right? I questioned myself.

No, I definetely died, I knew it was like getting sucked into still void.

I tried moving around, and it worked.

I can move, but am I alive?

A tired and groggy feeling welled up on my mind. I accepted death already, I was silently ready for my eternal slumber.

Contrary to people might think, I'm quite dissapointed knowing the possibility that I'm alive.

Simply put it, Life is tiring, and I'm done with it.

I put aside my nihilistic thoughts for a moment and tried walking around until I saw a person walk by.

It was woman on her twenty's, an office worker probably? on her morning duties.

I tried calling onto her.

'Miss?'

She continued to walk straight, completely ignoring me.

Wow, am I that hated?

I tried again.

'Miss?'

She didnt do anything, she just walked straight.

It was like she never heard me.

A terrifying possibility welled up in my mind.

It was an absurd and bold idea but It can ne confirmed.

I tried testing it out.

Reaching out my right hand towards the woman, expecting it to touch her was — undeniably wrong.

It was absolutely absurd.

It phased through flesh and bones, to say It was like a phantom image.

I was in disbelief.

'Wh-wh-what?! Is this for real?!'

After a rollercoaster of emotions, I calmed myself and examined my situation.

'It appears that I'm a ghost, probably. However, why am I a ghost?'

'This doesnt make any sense, I shouldve died — gone to the void, or tortured to hell, or even get to heaven.'

'Enough of that, there seems to be something I'm forgetting....'

A couple of people suddenly pass by me, I eavesdropped their conversation.

"Hey, hey, have you heard? It seems some kid died on the alleyway?"

"Really?! That's shocking! How did he die?"

'Oh..Thats it! My body, I'm going to check on it! I completely forgot about that.'

I ran to the alleyway I was in before.

There were quite many spectators, and a couple of police. Two people were talking from the side of the crime, mainly a middle age man and an old woman.

I gaze at the silent lifeless body on the ambulance, I knew that my life is over — and I accept that. But why must I live as a ghost?

I tried finding someone from the crowd, it was no avail however.

I shook my head in foolishness, of course my father won't be here.

He doesnt even care about me.

Pushing those ssd thoughts away, I walked around the scene and phased through people.

'So what am I going to do now?'

I was contemplating on what I should do, I mean to leave my spirit on this godforsaken world then I would have to have some unfinished bussinness right?

I mean it was like that on movies.

Now you might be asking, movies? I thought you were poor. Well, I have a friend on school that was a horror movie freak. That's about it.

I could go get revenge for myself on that gang by scaring the shit outta them.

Holy— that sounds like a great idea!

I'm not really that angry over them, but' ambushing and killing me suddenly like that was a big shocker to me.

Even if I didn't get killed I wouldve gotten a seizure by their suprise attack.

I looked over the crowd and saw someone from yesterdays ambush.

Of course they would be here, they would need to confirm if I'm dead.

Hehe, I followed him along when he escaped.

I haven't told you this but even though I phase through flesh and bones, oddly enough I can hold items and touch objects, only limited though.
