The heat was unforgiving. Even the fan Anna brought two weeks ago couldn't overpower the sweltering humidity of the Metro's afternoon sun. Anna woke up from her short slumber, drenched in sweat and feeling uncomfortably hot.
She scratched her head as she annoyingly kicked her blanket crumpled by her feet. Her head throbbed as she went to her water dispenser to drink some water. The time was only around 2:12 PM, a terribly early time for her to wake up after a night shift.
She clicked her tongue as she drank from her glass. Her bed seemed a good idea to lay down once again. However, the heat was too much of a bother for her to sleep. She approached her bed and saw how the sheets imprinted her body from the sweat. She scratched her head again and thought of heading to the mall, but her throbbing head was just too much. Annoyed, Anna just laid back on her bed ignoring the sweaty sheets and went back to sleep.
"Anna?" She heard Rico's voice calling out to her.
Anna opened her eyes and saw Rico wearing a well-tailored suit, kneeling in front of her bed with a bouquet of roses.
"Rico?" Anna sat up on the bed and rubbed her eyes. "W-what are you doing?"
"What do you mean?" Rico smiled. "Can't I not surprise you anymore?" He pouted.
It has just been a week ago when Anna started to speak to Rico once again. It had been a stormy week for them. As much as she wanted to explain everything to her boyfriend, things might get too complicated. Things had been awkward in their household lately, try as he would, Anna wouldn't speak to him. They ended up treating each other the silent treatment.
This has been their first real interaction for the past two weeks. He offered the bouquet to her, smiling sweetly at her. As much as Anna wanted to dismiss him, deep down she missed him. She took the bouquet and offered Rico a hug.
It was the first time in two weeks since she felt his warm body. His scent filled her nose and made her hold him tighter. Anna couldn't hold back her pent-up emotions and started to sob.
"W-what's going on?" Rico bafflingly asked.
"I… I-I am sorry, Babe." Anna tried to deliver those words as she sobbed.
"It's alright, Babe." Rico held her tightly in her arms. "You don't have to tell me what's going on. J-just hold me tight."
Anna pulled herself away and stared at his eyes. The same eyes that showed her compassion when she was in a total mess during her college years. Rico has grown by her side and became a man that she wished she had. A strong, yet kind boyfriend willing to go the distance for her regardless of the situation.
She closed her eyes as she slowly touched her lips against his. It was the first kiss she had after weeks of avoiding him. She felt the warmness of his breath as he kissed back, to her delight. They laid down on the floor with not a care in the world. The room might have been hot, but they easily undressed and began to do the deed on the floor.
She truly missed his warm caress and his gentle kisses. She laid down on the floor as he went in. Anna bit her lip trying to contain her pleasure as Rico went on, thrusting gently then rhythmically intensifying his speed. Anna couldn't help but arched her back hugging him tightly, whispering moans of delight.
He looked at her craving for her kiss. Anna satisfied her with a kiss and so much more. She pushed Rico away from her and laid him on the floor. She rode him wildly like a beast craving to be satisfied. Rico moaned grabbed her waist until he finished inside her.
They laid down on the floor breathless and satisfied. She laid in his arms and cuddled him.
"It's been a while, hasn't it?" She coyly asked as she closed her eyes.
But she got no response. She felt a cold sensation on her nape and a stench of rotting flesh. Suddenly, she felt her hands getting cold. Her heart beat violently as if to burst out of her chest. Her body shook and her mouth twitched. She slowly turned her head to her boyfriend and saw his headless carcass lying on the floor rotting with caking blood on the floor.
She sat up and screamed, however, her voice wouldn't go out. She saw her warm, well-lit room transitioned into the cold, dark place she prayed she would never see again, but it happened. She looked around and saw someone on top of her bed.
The figure was crouched and looked over at her. Its hairs stood up in a mess while its eyes and teeth shone in the dark like a cold steel glimmering in the dark. It slowly stood up from her bed and opened its arms revealing its huge, bat-like wings. Anna froze in fear as the monster cackled. It looked at her straight in her eyes before lunging over to her.
Anna woke up screaming. Her body was covered in cold sweat. She sat down on her bed and covered her mouth before rushing to the bathroom and vomit. She looked at the mirror and saw her face painted with fear. The dream has returned once again. She opened her medicine cabinet and drank the pill prescribed to her by Dr. Yano.
It took a while for her to calm down. Anna sat on the toilet seat reciting the prayers she was taught by her mother. She prayed as hard as she could asking God that the dream stayed as a dream. She took deep breaths until she was finally calm.
She looked at the mirror ones again and saw her pale face and the dark circles around her eyes. She had been sleeping well for the past two weeks, but the dream changed it all. She felt deprived of sleep and her body felt like a deadweight to her. She washed her face and realized the fading sunlight illuminating her room.
She ran back to her phone and realized that it was already 5:44 in the afternoon. Her shift was starting soon. She hurriedly took off her clothes and went for a quick bath. As she was cleaning herself, she realized how wet her mound has become. The feeling of dread crept back in as she recalled her dream, and it became worse when her stomach began to grumble.
