Frozen pork, frozen beef, some marinated chicken and some left over spicy wing was all that was left in her fridge. She hastily took it all and devoured it, one by one. She no longer defrosted the meats. She just immediately ate it as they were. But no matter how much she ate, she never felt satisfied.
Her stomach grumbled violently, squeezing itself rebelliously as she ate. Her body wasn't satisfied with the food she consumed and it's letting her know. Her body trembled as her hunger became more insatiable. She felt her muscles cramping and contorting itself like that wicked dance she dreamt. Anna laid on the floor crying in pain and fear as her body moved on its own.
The experience was sickening, that she hoped it was just a dream—it wasn't. It was real and she couldn't find a way out of it. She could hear a low growl, as if a wild animal stood near her; whispering in her ear, asking her to let it out. What did it mean by that? What was going on? Her mind fell into a daze, she felt like her consciousness split from her body.
She could feel everything that was going on, but she had no control of it. And no matter how hard she tried; she was rendered powerless. She felt the foam oozing from her mouth as she convulsed violently. It was a harrowing experience, as far as she knew, she should've been unconscious by now. Nobody convulses while being conscious of what's going on.
She could hear her bones cracking as her body flipped and folded into weird positions. She wanted it to stop but there was nothing she could do to stop it. She saw her lights flicker and fade, leaving her suffering in the darkness.
The seizures finally stopped as quickly as it began. She now regained control of her body, something she thought she would never have again. She sat down, wiping the froth from her mouth. She stared blankly in the darkness as she sobbed. Her hands shook from just the thought of it. She still doesn't understand what was going on.
A rat timidly popped from a hole in the wall and ran right across the floor. Her stomach grumbled once again, and her ravenous appetite surfaced pushing her to do the unthinkable. Without any thought of it, she instinctively grabbed the rat and from her hand, bit its head off.
Blood spurted all over the floor. She wasn't able to resist it any longer. She sucked the blood draining the rat dry before licking the blood off the floor. After cleaning the floor with her tongue, she immediately went back to the headless carcass and devoured it.
She could taste where the rat came from. The taste of human excrement coupled with rotten food filled her mouth. It was foul and had a distinct stench, but it somehow satisfied her; and that was what scared her.
Anna raced into the bathroom and immediately regurgitated the rat she devoured. She stuck a finger into her throat, until she puked the rat out. Pieces of the rat floated on the toilet; it made her sick just thinking about it. She went to the lavatory and cleaned her bloody face while consuming all the mouthwash just to get her mouth cleansed from the foul rat meat.
She stared blankly at the sink still unable to cope with what just happened. Everything felt like a dream; a bad dream, a waking nightmare she knew, she couldn't wake up from.
She looked at herself in front of the small lavatory mirror and saw her puffy, bloodshot eyes. She sobbed and sat on the floor, trying to figure out what was exactly wrong with her. She quivered at the thought of what she did. She ate a live being and no matter how much she wanted to be disgusted with it, deep down she felt relieved.
She stood up and rushed to her room, picking up her phone. She needed Rico's help right at that moment. She needed his touch, to hear his voice…and to eat his flesh. The thought came back once again out of nowhere.
Anna dropped her phone as her stomach began tormenting her again. She heard the growl once again. She looked around and saw nothing. There was no one other than her in her room. Her skin crawled at the painful jolt her stomach made. It needed to eat flesh and it wasn't just any flesh…it was that of a human. She dressed herself and left her phone on the bed. Anna wore her jacket and went outside to the convenient store, dragging her weak body out to the crowded street to get her fix.
As she walked on the side of the road, she noticed something different around her. It was noisier than usual. She could hear the buzzing sounds of conversations all around her. The honking of the cars and jeepneys were louder and the lights seemed too bright for her, that it hurt her eyes.
She wanted to go back, but her body wasn't cooperating with her. She stood still as she got continually harassed by the stimuli around her. She wanted to walk away from the crowd, but her feet told her otherwise. She continued walking, passing by the convenience store and went across the road.
Her body was dictating her where she needed to be. She stopped once again and tried her best to compose herself. She breathed slowly and closed her eyes, trying to find her inner power and stop her ravenous instincts from kicking in.
She finally managed to tone it down and was now able to move on her own. She took a sigh of relief and made her way back into the convenient store. She went inside and immediately grabbed a basket. She brought ten big cans of corned beef and two packs of frozen ham.
Anna immediately went home and ate the items she brought, but her hunger was still there. It wasn't stopping. A voice inside her head was urging her to hunt her first human; an outrageous order, let alone a scary one.
The whispers wouldn't stop. It buzzed in her head like a swarm of flies, it annoyed her. She covered her ears, but it wouldn't stop. Anna was losing her strength to the hunger. Her mouth started to froth again. Her mind went blank, then suddenly everything went dark.
"Feed me." A horribly coarse voice spoke.
That was the last thing she heard before passing out.
