"Get out of there!" a voice yelled out as a wind blast pushes Senile, Zemeta and Camilla away from being crushed by a large boulder.
Aurora drops beside the three warriors to see an armless Camilla, "Zemeta you can't be here with her, take her somewhere safe."
"I... can't," the speedster sobs.
"What do you mean you can't?" Aurora pushes further. "You're the goddess of speed, just zip her somewhere safe..."
"Aurora don't... please," Senile grunts to his feet cleaning the dust off his body.
"What happened to you?" she asks in curiosity touching the gods face in pity. He looks away trying his best to control his emotions but failing miserably at it.
"Aurora!" White stag yells from across the field breaking the moment she was having with the war god. "A little help here?"
Kamalu another elder goddess had created balls of flames with yellow auras emanating from her body. As she walked on the ground, her step melts the ground leaving liquid fires behind which burnt for minutes before turning into reflective surfaces. White stag had been using its ice breath against the goddess but it was as good as useless to the elder.
"You should go, we'll be fine," Zemeta smiles weakly before falling onto the ground.
"I'll be back," she answers, creating a tornado which she uses to transport herself back into the battle.
I watched in awe at my mother's raw power against such creature. Even when the odds were not in her favor she stayed and fought like a true warrior. Maybe it was favoritism or the fact that I never really knew her, but I wanted to see her again and spend time with her.
"I'll use ice to block out her attacks, you should create a large body of water around her," the stag ordered in exhaustion. They had used everything in their power against the elder but it was all futile. Kamalu was known as the goddess of the sun. She was said to have more power than a hundred suns as she was the one who created the light ball in the sky. She was capable of melting anyone and anything which she deemed unworthy. Just as her powers she was unstable and hot tempered having a short fuse for humans and gods alike. She trusted no one for she saw everyone as inferior beings. The only god she had respect for was Jaruma, but even that was out of duty not loyalty.
"Are you sure that would work?" Aurora asked in doubt while she waved her arms around creating massive amounts of water from thin air.
"It has to," it replied back in weak faith.
I looked on helplessly wishing I could help the woman who had birthed me. She was right in front of me yet so far away in terms of reality as the battle which was playing out had happened five thousand years before my existence. I might not have enough strength to go up against the elder gods, but I would protect her from harm if it ever came down to it.
"Xerxes, you worry too much," Callipso sighed interrupting my train of thoughts. "She is dead and gone, there is no need to hang onto the past."
"If there is no need to hang onto the past, then what am I doing here watching people get murdered like some sort of sport!?"
"First of all you insisted I show you this vision, secondly it is for you to learn..."
"I've only watched two gods get defeated Callipso and with hefty sacrifices being made. To you it might not mean much but are you telling me that watching your creators getting defeated in there doesn't move you at all?"
The creature snaps a chair into existence to which he falls into, "I wasn't created like you Xerxes. While your birth might have been natural mine was done artificially and in a haste. I wasn't created for emotional support, I was made for war, so no, nothing moves me at this point. A word of advice for you Xerxes, stop holding onto the past you cannot change, be prepared for the future you actually can, that is why I'm showing you these scenes from the past, so you can learn from their mistakes and in any event the threats do show up again, you can take them down without having to go through the same level of pain they went through."
What he said made a lot of sense even though his ideals sometimes were like that of my father. Mephistopheles was always showing strength and ruthlessness just like this creature, however I couldn't help but feel that they both were soft and human deep inside. Maybe time would help me understand why they were hardened, until then, I'd let their ruthlessness slide.
Whilst talking with Callipso a lot of time had passed for when I looked back at the ongoing battle White stag was on the ground bleeding profusely leaving Aurora to fight against Kamalu one on one. She was glowing a deep orange against the elders blinding yellow but something else was different about her, this time she was bloodlusted, her eyes showed no emotions, they were empty.
"Your friend is on the ground bleeding," the sun goddess reasoned. "Don't be foolish and give up."
The orange glow on her body intensified, "One thing you should know about us new gods is that we never give up. So stop trying to rope me into giving up."
"Very well," the elder nods creating a vortex of mini suns which she tosses at Aurora. The vortex moved in an unstable manner instantly vaporizing everything and everyone who got caught in its path, demigods included.
"I guess this is it," Zemeta smiled at the oncoming vortex with Camilla and Senile closing their eyes, their fates about to be sealed.
"We did the best we could," Camilla whispered, her skin sizzling to the heat.
"Maybe in another life I'd get to take you on a proper date Camilla," the war god opens his eyes to look at the Scythian who by now was melting from the heat.
"Yeah, maybe," she answers weakly, laying into the gods chest. The moment playing out before me made me so emotional that a tear formed from my eyes blocking out my vision. Wiping my eyes clean, I saw most of the gods blitz into safety with the slow creatures who were still alive getting sucked into the attack. The trio were not going to make it I thought, but that all changed in a flash.
"Don't think you're dying today!" Aurora yells dropping infront of the trio. Her hands stretched in front of her with the intention of blasting it away.
"You're not strong enough to do that," Senile reasoned weakly causing the goddess to think twice on her plan.
"Then I'll have to absorb it then," she said with a smile. The vortex raged wildly in front of her giving rise to the battlefield breaking apart under the immense power of the storm. When it was in range, the vortex started to shrink with her body taking in the damage.
"Aurora get out of there!" Zemeta screams, scrambling to her feet but falling multiple times.
"I've got this Z," the goddess grunts, the vortex raging all over the place with her body absorbing the entire sun filled attack.
