The role of the city lord, none shall say, is heavy-handed. He tends to the daily affairs of the city and collects his dues. His control of most of the city does come with an advantage. He can call upon the garrison to his whims to reach his foes.
As the duke's son, he safeguards the routes to trade and barter as he secretly fills his pocket with gold. A reputation that only he knows better than most is only demise-seeking.
A purpose and an advocate of corruption. Alden had seen his fair shares of unspoken strange instants. Even if he had delved and searched his deceased counterpart's memories, it would not bring him any more luck to make of this elf woman rude manners. His lack of understanding of the cultural norm in this world only fills a small amount to a tall and long cup.
A ten-year-old who had only emersed himself in fantasy books of theologies and escaped from reality would never understand where to stand at this moment.
[What a weird elf] Alden thought,
To make light of an uncouth situation like this would only put him as a fool among the guest. They would undoubtedly underestimate his abilities, and his ruling would take a hit.
As the tale of "Den of wolves" preaches, never bow your head to eat unless it is safe to do so.
[judging by how the Apothecary guild seem to be used to her bold actions]
[She must hold a higher position than theirs]
[if I acted, it would only get worst for me]
Then, in the sense of prolonged silence, not much of seconds had passed; with his mental state at full speed, Alden had thoughts of ideas to deal with this situation; he merely had thoughts of earning back his pride that was shattered of allowing the elf woman to act as she sees fit, yet to bear the consequences to hold her accountable is too heavy for him to handle. Judging by how the other guests had reacted, Alden was sure this elf woman held a status above his own.
His status as the city lord is only in name; compared to the Apothecary guild's solid reputation, they would undoubtedly make it difficult for him now that they knew where the source of his potion was coming from.
Should he outright burst with furry and deny the Apothecary guild anymore visitation and trade due to the elf woman's sudden attack, he would not only sink himself into trouble but also bring about his ending.
Alden does not know how far his family would go to be on the good side of the Apothecary Guild. Unbeknown to him, his guess is correct. Establishing a connection with the Apothecary guild is a badge of honor to all noble. The Apothecary Guild is not only the most powerful in this Kindom, but an unknown Grand Alchemist also rules it.
But is a badge of honor held much importance for someone born from earth?
Then a spark of an idea hit him,
[haha ill let you do as you wish for now, stunning elf] Alden thought, a warning glean escape his eyes
'hahaha,' Alden laughed. He proceeded to clap, bringing attention to himself.
'outstanding'
'was that magic?'
'i have never seen a real mage before; this must be fate.' He spoke childishly; His eyes sparkled with discovery and devotion. Fooling those guests from the capital, giving them a potential of doubt that perhaps the city's lord does not know how to read the mood.
"ah, yes," The young man answered; although Alden expected the elf woman to reply, yet she dismissed him with her attention elsewhere, and so were the others. Perhaps having her abilities canceled was a blow to her pride, or maybe her instinct had commanded her to search for the source of whatever had interrupted her chanting. The elf woman was well bent on finding it.
Yet, at some point had passed, the elf women turned towards the outside entrance and sighed silently.
The rest of the guests from the capital also had their attention at full alert due to the elf woman's sudden act. They escorted her from the Apothecary guild base to this small city with great effort.
Not only did they not make light of her demeanor, but they also avoided speaking out their opinion. To them, the elf woman bearing is clouded with too many questions that they did not want to ask. Even the young man, an apprentice alchemist, conducted himself so that he would rather not aggravate the elf women.
She turned toward the young man and eyed him. the young man whose status was higher than the four quickly walked to her side and eared to listen. she whispered and pointed toward Lucas
