Chapter 69 - Cesterfield

---------------------------------------------------

Up above the dawning sky, if one were to observe, they would undoubtedly notice a bat-like creature covered with Gloaming dark traces of shadows flying south in a string line towards the Lunar Circle. A place that existed before Summer city came to be. A zone that is forbidden to approach by all because of the danger lurking within.

A moment passed... then.

What was once a wide route that led a straight line that would connect the now glooming Luner circle to summer city is barely more than a dirt path. The path is covered with shrubs and small bushes. Broken branches and leaves cover the roads. At the start of summer city, Cesterfield, a small village built to be an exploration hub for all travelers to bed their stay or make something of themself should they decide to retire, yet as time passed, the town named Cesterfield was abandoned due to its mist like air and its plentiful crimes.

Alden, up above with his form steady and his wings, flaps silently, thoroughly observing the town named Cesterfield. Even though the night sky has yet to descent, the glooming atmosphere of the village has given him goosebumps.

He watched closely inside the town while the tall grasses and trees of the unkempt surrounding sway in the wind. The houses built were now in wreckage and old. Most doors were gone entirely or mere remnants of rotten wood and rusty metal. The open doorways looked eerie as only Darkness showed within. Many roofs had collapsed and, in some cases, had taken the entire building with it. Others looked in decent shape and were simply dirty and filled with bird nests.

You couldn't help but feel lost in this town now, even if you knew exactly where you were. It was a lonely place with only distant memories of what once was. But even when all the buildings are finally taken by nature, there was at least the knowledge that the animals wouldn't have to leave and could continue their lives in peace.

But all this would only steal your attention for a moment; Alden arched his head forward to observe more. A narrow road leading to a deep forest that looked gloomier than the misty fogged village is ahead.

The forest was tremendous and prospering. Its canopy was marked by hazel, redwood, and spruce, and sparkling light dancing between the branches allowed vibrant mushrooms to control the insect-riddled soils below.

[Too easy]

Alden thought as he slowly descended in the middle of the village, making his way towards the narrow road. As he walked, his attention was attracted by the read line of drops of Blood on the dirt road. A faint blood trace leads towards the narrow street inside the dark forest.

[his not far] Alden thought

And as he walks further towards the entrance that separates the village and forest. A disharmony of animal sounds of an unknown kind, most of which were beasts, echoed in the air and were strangely synchronized with the croaks of frogs like Sound in the nearby ponds.

Alden stopped in his tracks and fell silent;

[ System, status ] he thought.
