Chapter 37 - Ragna

He prepared meals for her and took care of her whenever she was drunk. All his life, he only lived with his grandmother; he didn't know what it was like to have a family.

As he spent time with them, he started to like the family he had. He often visited Rhaet and his family without Katheryn. But he only liked staying with his aunt. Synnove and Ivar were not that open towards him, avoiding him whenever they met. He, too, didn't care much about it.

Katheryn stopped drinking and stayed home for him. She felt embarrassed that her nephew was taking care of her when it was actually the other way around. She was supposed to take care of him, but he was doing it instead.

Katheryn didn't know much about cooking, so she brought a woman.

Now she was staying with them. Katheryn, Aragon, and the woman moved back to Aragon's home, as Katheryn's home was too small for three people to live in.

As it was winter, even though the sun came up, it was blocked by the thick clouds, giving dim light. The sky was filled with dark clouds, but it was not raining.

The woman that Katheryn brought was Eliza. She was assigned to Katheryn on Rhaet's order.

When Rhaet came back with these women to the village, Katheryn came up with this idea when she saw them. It has been four weeks since she came to work here.

Eliza had no choice but to work here, and she did her work without complaining. She felt thankful to Rhaet; he not only spared them but also gave them work to earn their living in the village.

So she was happy; even if she had to work in the house serving two people, she didn't object.

It was late in the morning, and Katheryn was in her upper-floor room. It was another room beside Freja's room and it was kept clean, and no one except Aragon entered that room.

He believed that his grandma would come someday and he continued doing his part.

Eliza was in the kitchen checking on food items. Aragon just finished his breakfast and came out of the house.

He didn't interact with her much. He only talked when necessary. He was more stoic toward other people.

He was now on his way to Rhaet's residence. Ragna sent a word to come over to their house, so he was now going there.

He was dressed in a thick tunic and a trouser. His black hair was tied into a pony. His facial features were starting to show more as he grew. He stood out easily in the tribe with his white skin and handsome face.

He reached their home and directly walked in. He became familiar with their home and no one would say anything to him. so he entered without calling out.

As he entered, he didn't see anyone in the hall. It was quiet, and it seemed no one was present.

He went into the kitchen, but there was no one there. He went back to the hall, and when he was about to walk out, he heard Ragna's voice.

"Is someone there?" Her voice sounded distant which came from her room.

Aragon replied, "It's me, Aragon."

"Oh, dear Aragon!"

"Come into my room; I am here."

Aragon walked straight into her room without hesitating. He wasn't as shy as he had been when he first arrived. Ragna cooked for him and treated him very nicely. And he liked her cooking, so he visited frequently. They had a few conversations. At first, he felt shy around her and not talked much but as she treated him with much care, he loosen up.
