The major sects and families were not so united in their goals in the north so it made it more difficult for them to band together when it was truly needed.
The Martial Alliance that was the righteous faction of the Central Lands was the better example of many influences working together even if they have some differences.
They were united in their goal to maintain power over the Central Lands and to be a power that could stand up to the threats inside and outside of their borders.
The unorthodox alliance, the devil sect and the blood sect were the major threat that caused chaos on their land and did great harm to the civilians but there were always additional risks that came from beyond each of the borders.
If they really wished to do so then they could send their combined forced to other lands to conquer them but it was not something that they would do.
It was more beneficial to have enemies around them so everyone realised their importance and continued to rely on them.
Anyone within the alliance would have to deal with the growing threats before they became a bigger problem but they would be unable to do much more without the say so of those in charge.
Each of those at the top had even more reason to be stuck in their alliance together and would have to maintain their relationships to keep up their position.
Even if they did not always act the right way, they did hold a lot of power and could make great change when needed.
It was just that they did not always make the best decisions that would be the best for everyone within the Central Lands and that power mostly served their own needs.
The Northern Lands had various powers within but they were less united in their goals.
In her previous life, Ki had heard about how the Warlord Sect had caused many disturbances once they gained the fortress belonging to the Divine Ice Sect which led to war and further chaos in the Northern Lands.
The royalty and the Ice Phoenix Sect would not have gotten involved unless they saw any benefit in it for themselves or those that lived on their lands.
The Severing Emotions Sect did not make any moves until it was already too late and there had been a response from the Central Lands which sent their larger armies to war when they believed that the war was something those from the capital had allowed.
There was an additional influence that had taken advantage of the war to create further chaos and even took some part in it which was the Nether Sect.
After discussing some more things with Darius, Ki came to understand a little more about what she had stepped into and those that were taking an interest towards her.
If the royal family were even the slightest bit interested then they would have consulted with the Ice Phoenix Sect and the great noble families.
They had taken the first step to approach Ki and to feel out her intentions by sending Darius.
Letting them know about the disruptions caused to her journey there was something that she had to do for the sake of any future problems appearing again.
It would not only cause problems to her side if some others acted out of line again but there would be a major disruption to the trade that was being done.
Those expecting things to be delivered would not receive them and it would be their own fault for not controlling their own people.
The only way for Ki to solve that was by using violence to deal with those kind of groups but she did not wish to create a major dispute when those at the top could handle it.
It was made clear to her that what had happened on the way was not the doing of those at the top of power within the north and that it was just some others that acted on their own.
Even the nobles within the capital were divided in a way and would make moves without seeking the opinions of those above them.
There were some families that were busy trying to climb up over those above them, others that were careful to follow the word of their rulers then there were others that held deep grudges against either the Central Lands or another noble family.
There were many reasons why problems could be created for the Bombyx family and how the most subtle of changes within the capital could affect their future business in the Northern Lands.
Through gaining the trust of Darius and discussing the future plans that she had, he had shown more enthusiasm towards Ki and her family.
No promises had been made but he did invite her, Lumi and Rayleigh to their family home during the time that she would stay in the capital so there was already some great progress made.
The coming of age ceremony passed by quickly and Ki kept greeting anyone that came to her so that she could build some relationships.
Those that had created trouble for her just sat to one side the whole time but never acknowledged her presence.
It seemed like they only came with the intent to enjoy what had been prepared without the the Bombyx family being there which they would boast about and have fun at the families expense but the arrival of the Bombyx family had dampened their mood and their enthusiasm a little.
The only great noble family that had introduced itself and came to her gathering was Darius of the Frost family but that was already a great honour to have him attend even if he came at the orders of others.
If Ki had her coming of age ceremony within the Central Lands then she would be limited by her influence and where the Bombyx family was located so she would have never been able to meet any influential characters there.
The most influential people that she would be able to meet would be families that manage territories or cities within the north, north west or north east if she held one closer to hime and each of them would not even be considered as anything by those within the Central Lands capital.
There were always risks that those families could have ties with either of the influences that she did not yet want to catch the attention of so it was not yet worth revealing herself unless it was for an important matter related to the family.
Even if she stepped out, it would not be done in a large public place where there could be potential enemies hidden among them.
The more that she exposed herself, the easier it was for others to invite her to places that she did not wish to go to when there were many matters to oversee within the family.
There was still a lot of progress to be made and room for growth so that the worst case scenarios she had envisioned did not happen.
After the day and night passed, Ki had a long sleep back in the room she was staying in and slept very peacefully until the morning came.
The new day had welcomed her along with the new challenges that were ahead of her and her family as they stayed within the Northern Lands.
