As the corpses tore apart the body with the various weapons that had been attached to their bodies, the disciple let out a cry as he died.
The poison from the corpse puppets bodies infected him as he was dying and mixed with his blood.
As this happened, Ki climbed down the ladder after securing the door in place to stop it from being closed.
Upon reaching the bottom, many of the others following her climbed down with her but wrapped their faces in a cloth and wore some gloves to avoid having any contact with anything that the corpse puppets had come into contact with.
Even if they were the ones controlling the corpse puppets, there would always be ways in which harm could be inflicted on themselves if they were careless.
Since they had no immunity to this strong of a poison, they would have a difficult time when they were infected.
Although the Gu worms in their bodies may take the poison as a tonic, there was a limit in how much it could consume.
The poisoned blood began to gather together to form many small floating droplets of blood one after the other as every little bit of the blood was drained from the dead person very quickly.
Ki turned to the others and said calmly. "Quickly send the puppets down the underground passage to the end, they must have heard by now. Collect the blood as tiny blood mists or blood droplets that are less noticeable."
Right away she walked towards the passage that lead to the main room that was used for draining the bodies.
She had experience with these types of bases that had been built for the Blood Sects operations.
In order to receive a high amount of blood every month, many secret bases were set up throughout the continent and kept secret in order to capture healthy and young people to drain.
This required a place that would not be easily found or exposed while they completed their tasks.
The screams of their victims were never heard because it was deep underground and they had hidden the entrance well enough.
If Ki had not been to one or more of them in her previous life and noticed some clues to show her the location of the door, it would be difficult to find.
The design was always kept simple with only one entrance or exit to go through, a small passageway lead from there into a larger underground room which was sealed shut to allow further noise from being blocked out.
Usually they would have one person on guard near the main door and another guarding the outside of the main room.
Upon receiving an attack, they would be able to quickly respond but it rarely happened since they were never discovered and it was difficult for others to gain entry without them opening the door that had been locked from the inside.
Whenever they had been anywhere near their base, they would be extra careful not to be exposed so the appearance of an elder knocking on the door suddenly was something that relaxed their guard even a little and allowed this situation.
If it had been someone else knocking, they would have known that they had been exposed and immediately shut the door to call for help from the others and then chase down and kill that person as a group.
As the screams echoed down the passageway leading to the main room, the corpse puppets moved stiffly but fast enough to reach the door that had been opened where the people inside had become alert of an attack on them.
Ki's puppet was at the front of them and clashed against a core disciple who had just exited the room while stabbing him.
As he fell back, the hand knives aimed at his throat mercilessly.
Very quickly he died and the poison mixed with his blood, the blood began to leave his body through his wounds and take on the shape of small droplets as they floated up from his dead body.
Inside the room, the Unrestrained realm elder watched the attack with little emotion displayed on his pale face or within his bloody eyes.
However when he saw what followed his eyes showed a look of astonishment. 'Blood manipulation? Is it someone of that realm… no, it couldn't be. There is no one in the sect with that kind of ability or realm that I do not know about so it could originate from our sect. Then the only conclusion I would have is either the use of an artefact or the Eastern Tribes Mystical Arts. However they have long been chased out of the continent with no way to return, they have long secluded themselves away from the world and live like animals in the wild. Something isn't quite adding up…"
An artefact is something that is from the old era and is very rare, few sects have an artefact of their own and each of them has their own use whether it be for attacking, defending or to be used in other miscellaneous ways.
Although there may be an artefact that may have the ability to manipulate blood, he had not seen or heard of one with that specific ability and had never seen it in any of the sects records.
The Eastern tribes had long distanced themselves from their fellow humans and lead a life secluded from the Central Lands.
After the increased persecution of the Gu Clan in the past by the Martial Alliance and the targeting of those with Mystical Arts, many of the tribes or clans refused to enter the Central Lands a long time ago and secluded themselves from the world.
It is believed that they had become like completely savage beasts in the wild and attacked anyone they deemed to be an outsider.
Some tribes or clans are hostile to each other still or have some relationship between a couple of them but when outsiders appear, they are happy to cooperate to drive them away.
If there is anything they hate more than their own rivalry with those on their land, it would be those of the Central Lands.
For the Blood Tribe to appear within the Central Lands was something that had not happened in thousands of years and if anything, they would not target the Blood Sect for no reason.
Before attacking the Blood Sect, they would definitely target their long time enemies within the Capital.
The elder could feel the strangeness of this attack but he was not sure how to identify it.
The corpse puppets seemed like a technique of the Devil Sect or the rumoured forbidden art of the Gu Clan but the possibility of the Devil Sect working together with the Mystical Art users was something just as unlikely to happen.
The only thing that he could come up with was that this may be a joint effort from two Eastern clans or tribes.
He quickly analyses what he had seen and processed it quickly in his mind before giving out orders. "Remove the head or destroy it when fighting these things, do not get cut by anything!"
However as he spoke a strange scene took place within the room.
The blood within the container began to rise and headed towards the door passing by the corpses that had begun to enter the room very quickly.
Many vials and glasses that contained any blood moved as the blood was controlled and fell to the floor.
The blood quickly escaped and flowed towards the direction of the door.
The Elder saw this and his eyes widened but he quickly put up a solid qi shield around his body to protect himself from any unknown attacks.
