Chapter 252 - Sickening

Had it been the past, perhaps her mother would of collapsed in front of the pressure and blood ties of her family but now was different.

She had the support of her new family and was happy with how things are, how could she possibly risk the families stable life just to help the family that had never shown her any care or gave her any praise.

During her time in the capital, she was the only one in the family with a stable social circle and a positive background.

After moving away, she had lost all of the relationships and potential suitors behind and start anew in new places.

During the time staying near the Bombyx family, she once again entered the social circles of the noble ladies outside of the Capital and built up her own image once again which lead to her being accepted by Agnes in the end.

Elizabeth was a social butterfly in her youth and could turn peoples bad thoughts about herself and her family to a positive image but unfortunately she had her family who always brought her back down.

Now that she had read what they had been up to over the years, she knew that they had not changed in the slightest.

Her father was an opportunist who loved to form partnerships with other families that could help them but the moment the other party was useless to him, he would toss them aside mercilessly without even helping them tide over their troubles.

The family that his son married into was the same, even if he loved his son more than his daughter some of his actions still came from his own selfishness which made his son unable to go against him even after taking over as the head of the family.

His son married a wife and gave birth to an heir and they sat back as they watched the fight between two families as they slowly gained their own power and control while providing a little financial aid to keep the fight going.

By the time they were finished, the allied family took the place as the city lord but was unable to hold their position without themselves to back them up.

They became the real winners as the allied family became the puppet rulers of the city while they had most of the real control and power.

The new enemies did not bother with the city lord but instead began to interfere with their business and activities but also exposing many misdeeds of the grandson of the family that had been previously buried with a lot of funds to keep people silent or to make some others disappear from the world of the living.

As the room was silenced by Elizabeth's clear refusal, the old man began to organise his thoughts and gave a stern look to his son.

The grandson looked around a year or two older than Ki as he looked on at what was being discussed with a cold look in his eyes.

His eyes scanned the bodies of Ki and Elizabeth openly without even disguising his intentions. 'These ladies are my aunt and cousin.. what a shame.'

However his thoughts changed towards an even worse direction. 'Although.. that does not mean a thing to me.. her daughter is not to my usual tastes but why do I still feel so attracted to her?'

It was as if he had met her before and failed to win her over in the past but during this time he had been unable to succeed in his usual actions within Wolfden City so his meeting at the festival slipped his mind.

However Ki looked at him coldly and then turned to her grandfather from her mothers side then at her uncle. "The Bombyx family will not assist you regain your power and status no matter how many times you ask. You should really learn to cherish what you have and stop being greedy for more than you can manage. You are far too concerned about the outside while the inside is destroying you. If you gained our help there would be a time when you will be back for more because I know of your repeating pattern that keeps coming up with the men of your family. You favour your males, ignore the females… that is not wrong as it is a common thing but you fail to control your heirs actions and fail to properly teach them the appropriate rules that they must follow and the responsibilities on their shoulders. You do not deserve our help."

The grandson glared at her and yelled. "Who do you think you are? A mere little girl dares to deny our family? What right do you have to look down on us?!"

Ki turned to the old man and smiled sarcastically. "This is what I mean. He fails to recognise who he is speaking to and behaves so rudely. You are here to ask for a favour but you have no control over what comes out of his mouth and who he could possibly offend. How have you all lasted as long as you have? Was it the bride price that you sold my mother for? Is it all spent and you want more? You truly have no shame! Allow me to introduce myself."

She presented herself with a slight elegant curtsy. "I am Ki Bombyx, daughter of Elizabeth and Adam Bombyx and also the eldest child and heir to the family."

The old man's eyes became wide and he silently stood there taking in her words of his current family affairs.

It was true and it had repeated itself from his son to his grandson..

Even with his selfish personality and wish to expand the families power, he had neglected the family education and proper management of the family.

He believed that enough money and power could be used to cover up his sons or grandsons mistakes that kept repeating during their youth and just ignored it as something boys usually go through in the early years of their life.

His son had later matured and followed his wishes to marry for the sake of the family so he expected the same from his grandson.

The grandson however looked even more enraged and said. "Ha! Then you really are my cousin, why would you deny us when we are in trouble? You are so selfish, someone should teach you your place!"

However the grandfather shouted. "Shut up!"

The grandson looked wide eyed and said in a scared voice. "What did I do wrong? I only said what you all were thinking."

The middle aged man stepped forward and said. "Sister, please… as you can tell. We are in a difficult position and need help or we could be swallowed up by our enemies. Even if it isn't these opponents, what about the next? You couldn't just watch as this all happens right?"

The elderly woman who had been silent the whole time spoke softly. "Liza, please… for old times sake."

Elizabeth listened to everything and her heart softened upon hearing her mothers words but she replied calmly. "Like my daughter has stated, it is not possible. The family will only invest in something beneficial for both parties and that will be a long term investment that will be sure to be paid back. I doubt that you have any intent on paying any of it back or finding a way to let my family receive any benefits from what you may have planned so why should we help? Once you have cleared up your troubles of today there will always be additional problems until you have rooted out the problems within your family."

She then turned her eyes coldly towards her nephew and said in a cold tone. "You are lucky that you are my nephew by blood or I would have ordered your eyes to be removed from their sockets because of the way you just looked at me and my daughter. How sickening…"
