Chapter 241 - Encounter

Further enjoying the festivities and the overall atmosphere, Ki began to better experience the world around her but also the positive changes that she had brought to this part of the world in the many years of hard work.

The city had become prosperous and had become known as the merchant city of the northern parts of the central lands.

The people seemed to be happy with their way of life and those that were unhappy and turned to other ways of life usually got swallowed up by one of the underground gangs that were under Nox's control.

The city was slowly becoming a central place for to connect trade between the places closer to the eastern and western borders but those beyond the northern border had also established a trading relationship with the Bombyx family thanks to Ki's efforts which would create a much better diversity of products on sale from different lands.

If it was before then anyone who would wish to trade between a side of the map would have to go through the capital to ensure that their goods will be able to reach other places but now that the merchant city was growing in popularity it had become another place where those of the north, west and east could go to and trade their goods without enduring the high taxes of the capital.

For many years the people of the capital have long used their position to isolate the other lands from each other so that they cannot work together in a rebellion but also so that the capital can use its position as the central figure on the continent to make all trade flow through them.

The great noble families have long profited from this arrangement and have rarely ever seen other trading routes hold out due to the instability of the continent where one day someone can easily become a target for those that seek to rob them of their position, land, power or wealth.

The great noble families have long held their position because of their control of the masses but also the support of the Martial Alliance so they could fight off those that coveted their things but others could not always do the same which resulted in the great noble families rarely having a threatening enough of a competitor.

Even now according to their thoughts, this merchant city would be a small and fleeting existence that would soon collapse on itself.

If it is to last then the city must remain as Ki had intended it to be, a place where trade is done connecting the north, west and east but also a place where opportunities will be given to those who will be willing to work for them.

Those who work hard and show good results will be rewarded, those that break the rules will be dealt with according to the law but also those that resort to a life of crime for easy money will either be handled by the Reapers or Nox in their own way whether it be killing or recruitment.

Each person will be given the chance to grow up beautifully so long as they have the right environment and conditions to allow them the chance to show off their true potential like a seed being nurtured into a beautiful flower or tree.

Ki continued to wander the streets with her family while taking each sight from many people from different walks of life.

Many different cultures, backgrounds, philosophies and races of people were being mixed into the crowd and on this night many of them were blending together while still remaining in harmony because this place was slowly becoming a haven to many of those people whether it was to avoid discrimination or to just be given a chance to turn their life around.

Suddenly someone came running in her direction and fell towards her without warning.

However her reflexes were very fast as she quickly stepped out of the way of the persons falling body.

The young man let out a scream after falling and hurting himself and then looked up with a look of grievance in his eyes as he looked towards Ki. "You… why did you move? You could of tried to catch me.."

Ki looked coldly at him as she felt that he was being unreasonable. "You were not looking where you were going or being careful while running. Also men and women should not be too close to each other unless they are married so why should I catch you?"

According to most noble etiquette teachings that she had received from her grandmother, it was not proper for a young lady to be seen having physical contact with someone of the opposite gender and should be saved for their betrothed but that was not the sole reason why she had avoided him.

In truth, she had long grown accustomed to avoiding physical contact with others and even now she kept a distance with strangers even if she had worked on herself so that she could let those in her circle a little closer to herself and let her family have physical contact with her.

Although she did not know the other parties intentions, she did not wish to be taken advantage of and have her reputation shamed out in public even if it was simply an accident.

The young man showed a look of confusion after seeing her cold look then responded. "Don't you know who I am? I am a young master of a noble family, you should be glad to save this noble body from pain."

Ki couldn't even fathom the kind of upbringing that this person had but she couldn't help but respond. "If your noble body is so precious then you should learn to better protect it and not cause damage to yourself. While you do so… please do not implicate others. A noble must behave like a noble as to not bring disgrace upon oneself and their family."

The young man scowled and then looked back and shouted. "Help this young noble up! You are all so useless.. and you.. how rude of you. How dare you speak to this young noble in this way?!"
