Chapter 229 - Caring

Elizabeth looked at her daughter with love and care in her eyes and spoke. "How have you been my daughter?"

Ki responded calmly. "I have been well mother."

Elizabeth smiled in response to her word but then became serious. "My child.. I know that you have been working hard but the time where you will become an adult is fast approaching. You cannot continue to hide yourself within this mansion and only leave for business matters so I am asking you to give this some thought.."

Ki turned to her grandmother who stood nearby and asked. "Are you in agreement with this too?"

Agnes nodded as she spoke. "You need to learn to enjoy life even if it is a little. What is the point in surviving if we spend all out time busy and struggling to hold onto our existence. Sometimes we need something extra so that we can cherish life more and build fond memories to remember when we experience our darkest days."

Ki stood there in silence and was in deep thought for a long time.

During her previous life, she tried to hold onto the fond memories but the reminder was always there that her family was gone so it was too painful to remember.

Her familial bond did however become her binding force that kept her alive, becoming a curse upon her as she took revenge for her fallen family corrupting her heart further into darkness.

Even after she returned, many years had past and she had made some new memories and overcome many trials because of her diligence and somewhat questionable decisions that lead her family down this path with her for the sake of their survival and growth.

She always felt as if something was drawing closer to harm her family and that paranoia was both a blessing and a curse that would keep everyone safe but at the same time not let her rest and take a moment to appreciate the smaller moments in life.

She knew that this was a problem but she could not stop herself from locking herself up in her room and continue it with her daily activities to plan for even the impossible.

Knowing of the suffocating power of the central lands top powers and even those beyond the borders she knew that if she wasn't resourceful, diligent, smart, evil and powerful enough then she could lose everything again.

As if being constantly chased by that feeling she had no choice but to prepare herself and remain vigilant until that day came.

Now that she had her closest people say this about her she couldn't help but soften and listen to their opinion. "What is it that you have to suggest then?"

Elizabeth spoke up with a pleased look on her face. "It will be enough to get out and see the lands we govern up close now and again. Whether it is the village or the merchant city Wolfden City, you can occasionally visit and see the state of the land up close. Take your brother and sister with you if there is a festival on or just take them to the market with you. I am sure they would love to spend this kind of time with you and I know that you will protect them well."

Ki looked at her family members and then responded. "Okay. I will do that sometime soon but for now I must focus on my music and other tasks. Once I am free I will do so."

Elizabeth sighed as if she knew her daughter would push it back but she was relieved that Ki had acknowledged their worries and would make an attempt to change some things in the future.

Ki walked towards her mother and placed a vial in her hands. "This is a newly developed pill that will help you increase your cold qi arts. I see that you have stabilised and refined the qi from what you have gained from the previous pill recently so now should be the right time to use this. Take your time to slowly absorb the cold medicinal properties of the pill and turn it into your own strength."

She turned to look towards her grandmother and explained. "I do not have anything else that can be gifted to you for now grandmother. This pill is only suited to mothers nature of qi, for others it would only be like poison to their bodies if they consumed it."

Agnes looked at the pill for a moment and then back at her granddaughter. "What do you plan on doing with such a thing?"

Ki shook her head and answered with a sigh. "Nothing big for now. I cannot let the recipe or the pill itself be known because of its origin so I can only select some loyal and talented subordinates to consume them and increase their strength. Lumi and Rayleigh are already in the process of experiencing a breakthrough so after they come out from their seclusion they will have broken through to the next realm. I expect the same for mother too if she consumes the pill but do not forget the basic teachings that I have passed onto you so that you can absorb it effectively without encountering a setback or qi deviation."

Elizabeth looked at her daughter and then replied. "Do not worry, I will be careful."

Ki felt that she had spent enough time here but before leaving she left a comment. "Grandmother.. how much spare reserves of money do we have right now?"
