Chapter 186 - Image of death

In truth Ki had only released her killing intent in order to intimidate and stop the man from acting so rude and as he pleased.

Most of the items she had brought were valuable and if he mishandled them or tried to keep them for himself then the time used to prepare them would be wasted.

Most of the items were either for the nobles, the rich or someone of a high position so how could she let someone like him try to take it for themselves.

So a warning was issued before he could put his hands on anything and she made it so that someone with more authority and more responsibility placed on their shoulders came forward so they could take and pass on her payment to the higher ups himself.

Ki moved to her sled once more and picked up a box that contained the mulberry tree mark and handed it over to the man. "Only those of a high position can open this as this is of some importance to your sect and the materials used to make it did not come easy."

In reality the materials were easy to get ahold of in the central lands but for places like the north they did not exist so many things were scarce and valuable in their eyes.

This one box could be traded for many things and most of the things inside were personally created by herself who had gained a high mastery in her craft.

Even during her previous life her skills were high but now that she had time to take a break and slowly digest her knowledge and experience and further build upon it she had reached a whole new realm.

The bottles that were within the box were one of the wines that she had personally made and while it had special effects it also led the person drinking it to fall into a subtle illusion or feel certain feelings contained within the wine.

The man nodded and then waved to the those by the gates to let them pass through.

Just as Ki stepped back onto her sled without putting on her gloves and clenched her hand into a fist. 'Hmm.. this cold seems to barely even have any influence on my body or at all. I could not be sure before but now I know for sure that my body is truly immune to hot and cold along with various poisons to a certain level. What is best for now is that I continue to dress this way to avoid looking out of place and do not attract any unwanted attention.'

The gates opened up and the man passed by Alf who had kept quiet as things developed as they did and spoke. "You can pass through."

Alf immediately turned to his men no longer wishing to remain here in case the other party decides to change their mind again. "Let's move out!"

A shout was heard from behind as they started moving once more. "Hike!"

Just as they passed through the gate and continued on their way further away from the sects grounds, the person in charge waved to his men to have them close the gates.

He had placed the box on the ground as he was dealing with some things but then picked it up once more to walk in the direction to enter the main walls of the sect.

Several people approached as the other man who was previously still recovering over his shock and sitting down away from them.

The man was quiet and did not wish to interact with anyone for now because what just happened may cause him some permanent psychological damage that could last until even his later years.

Even as an old man he would still remember the time when he was confronted with death itself and froze up but at the same time he somehow lived and had to live with that shame.

The other men continued to ignore him and chased after the boss who carried the box. "Hey boss. What have you got in this haul? Anything good? What are we splitting among us this time? Ehhehe."

"Come on boss! Show us!"

"It must be something good! Those people were definitely different from the rest. They must of had some good stuff."

They had good eyes and could tell that those dressed in the thick clothing although the materials used were the same as most of theirs the techniques used and the care used to make them were on another level than what they had seen in the north.

Those people were either outsiders or they were someone with a high influence or power.

The leader of them hugged the box closer to his body as he walked ignoring them and then spoke coldly. "Get back to work and do not mention a thing about what happened. They must be someone of influence and power to be able to be able to use such methods to intimidate and bargain with us at the same time. I cannot split this and it must be given to the higher ups immediately."

The other peoples eyes went wide with shock as if not believing their bosses words but one still spoke up to voice their opinion. "Why not? We always take a part for ourselves anyways so why should today be any different."

The leader then turned to look seriously into his eyes and said seriously. "You don't understand… facing that kind of person all you can do is just do as they say while they are still being reasonable. Or else…"

He gulped and his face went pale… 'death…. Everywhere..'

On the wall although he looked tired and lazy like his usual demeanour the moment Ki released her killing intent towards his subordinate that he could subtly detect, his eyes flashed as a subtle image as it played out in his mind.

The walls scattered with corpses and blood while the gate was forcefully being opened to allow the group to pass through no matter what consequences would follow afterwards.

There were many people in the world and the one who held that murderous intent was someone who restrained and hid a true part of themselves behind a mask and did their best to follow rules and broker deals to the best of their ability so that all parties could benefit.

However the moment things turned bad and lives were threatened or there was unfairness, that person would no longer restrain that hidden part of them and no matter the losses they would not hesitate to kill everyone who is considered an enemy just to prevent further losses and bloodshed on their side.

He saw carnage and destruction for himself and his men if they continued to push further onto that person or be rude towards them or their people.

The act of his man going to grab their things without asking was deemed as offensive so a warning was given rather than a direct punishment or confrontation.

This showed that the person was very in control of themselves.

So when he listened to his subordinate as he came back he adjusted his state and returned to his lazy demeanour and played it all off but listened to Ki seriously.

As she gave him orders he tried to find out anything to reveal her identity to pass onto his superiors when he passed on the box.

A shiver went down his spine as he thought back to the image in his mind, he believed that it was an ominous premonition of what was to come if they continued to act out of line. "Everyone back to work!"

He turned back for a moment to look at his subordinate who had always been unruly, battle thirsty and greedy.

That person was barely recognisable anymore as if he was a small house cat that had just been intimidated by a large wild tiger.

All he could do was cower and try to recover from the sense of intimidation that he experienced or be swallowed up by it until he fell apart and perhaps even went mad.

He immediately passed through the walls of the sect and made his way to request a direct meeting with the sect leader and the elders to pass on the box as ordered.

Although he did not know what was inside he had a feeling that it must be something of importance so hurried to complete his mission.
