Chapter 133 - Forest of death

The environment and tactics used had been fully utilised by Ki and her puppet to assassinate the invaders and also set traps to reduce their numbers.

The only drawback from the battle was that if the poison was spread into the environment it would linger and spread into the soil, trees, grass and anywhere close so she could not risk letting the poisoned blood drop to the ground.

After using the poisonous blood mists to the best of her abilities and not destroy the forests environment she decided to absorb the poison back into her body which lead her to make a sudden breakthrough but she still risked it in the hopes of surpassing her limits and not endangering the others.

Thanks to this battle Ki couldn't help but think back to the poison clans use of their forest and environment to the best of their abilities.

Ki turned to Agnes and spoke calmly. "I think we need to carefully think of placing more traps, triggers and such around the forest and a warning on the outside of the forest to stop intruders from sneaking through the forest to launch a surprise attack."

Agnes brows knitted as she was in thought and then spoke. "How would we go about that? After all some of the villagers still use the forest sometimes to hunt or pick wild herbs or vegetables."

Ki shook her head and then sighed. "The village is now able to grow and raise enough food to keep us all going for a long time even without searching the forest for food. We need to put a ban on entering the forest in the future so that we can avoid any accidents. The forest protects us from the outside world and secludes us but at the same time it also stops us from seeing any approaching enemies so from now on we need to leave signs outside of the forest with warnings that there is danger in the forest so they must use the roads. Then we can begin to set up different kinds of traps within several places in the forest and set up an environment for to move the wild animals into."

She began to draw on the map and drew out several large circles, markings and crosses to show different types of traps and triggers to help expose the intruders and harm them.

Then she drew several pathways around them which led from one place and back to the middle of one of the roads and then a large section that was drawn as if the area was fenced up.

She pointed to the traps and triggers on the map according to their uses and spoke. "The forest is the best place to set up traps of different types. String triggers that activate hidden weapons, pit fall traps with metal spikes at the bottom, wire traps, string triggers connected to a launching mechanism to fire a smoke bomb to the sky and then there will be the marked safe zones for our own people to travel through and survey. The safe route will go around and avoid the trap locations but it will only lead back to the roads or outside of the forest outer parts so who ever travelled through the forest would never be able to reach the village without triggering a trap to warn us of their approach or come out unharmed. Their only option would be to follow the road to get close enough to the village to attack but we will be able to see their approach and be able to quickly respond and counterattack if they have hostile intentions."

Agnes looked over the markings on the map and then turned to Elizabeth and Adam showing them the designs. "This will require some work and secrecy so while we hold this we still need to keep the locations of the traps a secret from both insiders and outsiders but our elites and most loyal people. Who ever is to set these up must be part of one of these groups."

Elizabeth tilted her head in confusion but then spoke. "It's better than getting caught off guard because we weren't cautious enough."

Adam nodded after hearing his wife's words. "This land belongs to the family but so is the land around the forest so naturally if any outsiders intrude onto our land we have every right to defend it. The traps are just a way to better defend ourselves and with the warning signs outside of the forest and on the roads we can avoid any additional accidents."

The family quickly decided that the ones to handle the tasks would be Ki, Rashida and the blood shadow group.

What followed during the next couple of weeks was the group setting up the traps within the forest according to the maps specifications.

During the next couple of months, the elite wolf group patrolled the forest through the safe route and checked to see if any traps had been triggered by humans.

Several times they came across an injured or dead body or many invaders stuck in the forest during their travels.

Towards the remaining hostile people who entered the forest they attacked upon sight and killed but those they could get to were subdued or killed upon getting close to them.

The wolf elite group could not reach the invaders most of the time from the safe route so they got many chances to improve their archery skills the most.

Any of the dead bodies were cleaned up by the blood shadow group who knew of the traps locations and also put the triggered traps back to their original state.

The forest that surrounded the Bombyx family was starting to become one of the most deadly places to enter and the rate of attacks towards the village began to steadily decrease as time passed.

Any medium to large animals were moved to a safe location with large wooden fences to keep them from stepping into the locations where the traps were.

The forest quickly became known as the forest of death to those who had experienced it and spread the rumours after retreating and successfully escaping.

Several cities also put forward requests to mercenary groups to better defend against invaders for a monetary reward.

Marilyn's group had taken control of the gangs, bandit and mercenary groups within the cities that were the closest to the border so she was able to use their combined power to earn more money by using her people to fight off any invaders.

Within Wolfden city the law department began to be implemented to keep the peace within the city and make sure that the city remained as fair as possible and stuck to the rules of trading within the markets.

Many travelling traders from the northern lands settled down within Wolfden city and began to increase the possibility for establishing further friendly relations between the central and northern lands.

By the time the martial alliance had tried to come up with some form of solution to the problem and put together some kind of army to send to the border and deal with the troublesome zones that had experienced the greatest attacks the situation was already beginning to calm down thanks to the Bombyx families involvement and the measures they had taken to counter the sudden change within the worlds power structure.
