Ki travelled through the forest as planned during the night for several days.
In her previous life the Divine Ice sect was destroyed around this time but she had little knowledge about the exact details.
From the knowledge she knew, Ki was able to guess that those escaping from the invasion would arrive in the forest between her village and the border.
In her previous life the snow fairy had escaped and made her way to the capital and eventually found a place by the emperors side so Ki could guess the general location and time in which the escapees would appear.
She searched the forest several times for the past couple of days just in case there was any sudden changes created by the ripple effects she had created within the world but everything still happened according to the previous timeline.
She had arrived just in time to witness the betrayal between master and student and then listened to Myra's words and thought back to the person she encountered and defeated during her final moments and how she must have turned into that ruthless individual.
The first step towards that ruthless snow fairy who is obsessed with covering up her past and any bad rumours or truths about herself started with the death of her master and the ice goddess of the divine ice sect.
She was witnessing the day Myra severed her ties and took a lonely road towards power and influence under a new title.
On one hand she was a dangerous person with a lot of potential which needed to be eliminated but also someone with great potential to be put to use for her own goals.
One voice in her head was telling Ki to kill her and save the ice goddess and the other was telling her to subdue the snow fairy in her younger years and also save the ice goddess.
As she listened to the snow fairies younger self tell her story to the ice goddess she felt her thoughts become more clear.
She thought of a plan and then stepped forward with her bow and arrow aimed at the young snow fairy.
Seeing the snow fairy drop her sword and move away from the ice goddess, Ki smiled coldly and began to speak. "I have heard everything. I know you both do not have much time so I will keep it short and I will give you a way to avoid death today and build a new life."
Myra thought for a moment and began weighing her options and frowned. "What do I have to do?"
Ki removed a pouch containing a small glass container and handed it to the large dog and said while pointing towards Myra. "Take it over there."
The large dog took the pouch in its mouth and carried it towards Myra and dropped it in front of her before returning to Ki's side.
Ki spoke again to Myra in a calm voice. "Take what is inside and swallow it. This is my way to keep you in check and not betray me. If you do one day betray me then you had best hope that I don't find out about it otherwise you will receive a quick death."
Myra replied in an irritated voice. "And if I don't?"
Ki replied calmly. "You will die. If you take it then I can help you with acquiring a new identity and support to live a new life so long as you remain loyal to me."
Myra had long grew used to the schemes within the noble families and the outside world but she could not detect Ki's motive behind her words and actions.
Ki's arrival was too unexpected and the sudden time requirement needed to rest before escaping again was getting less and less with each passing breath.
The more time passed the more pressured she felt but she also could not refuse the sudden terms stated to keep her life and start anew.
She looked towards Ki with a fierceness in her eyes unlike her current age showed and replied. "Fine, I agree to your terms but if you betray me or try to make me do anything I do not wish to then I will not hold myself back from getting my revenge on you."
Ki rolled her eyes and then looked at her with certainty. "I wouldn't do so, after all my family are merchants so we makes deals and trades."
Myra sighed and picked up the pouch, removed the vial and then poured it down her throat. "What is next?"
Ki moved quickly towards the dead body and removed the bag from the ground along with anything of value on the body.
As Ki picked up a metal medallion from the grand elders waist, Lumi's eyes showed a noticeable change.
Ki noticed the fluctuation in Lumi's eyes and the change in her body language as she stood up holding the medallion. 'I had heard rumours about this and from the families records I can guess what is behind her behaviour. Some sects had similar systems of training loyal warriors who will never betray and the only way to get them to follow orders was to use a form of identification to be recognised as someone who is a part of the sects position of power. Looking at her reaction to the medallion it must be the thing that I was looking for.'
Ki held the medallion before her and ordered. "Follow me and carry everything back."
Lumi showed that she was listening as she looked towards Ki and nodded and then began to stick close to her after picking up anything she had previously dropped during the break given.
Myra's eyes showed surprise and disbelief upon witnessing Lumi become obedient towards Ki. "Impossible… how can you control her? She only responds to the elders, she won't even acknowledge me who is the grand elders disciple."
Ki showed the medallion to Myra calmly. "Every sect has a badge or medallion of some kind to identify one's rank and sect if they are in a high enough position. I assume they used the sects medallion that the grand elder uses as a trigger to gain the ice goddesses notice and issue orders."
Myra looked wide eyed upon hearing that. 'If I knew this beforehand then I wouldn't even need to kill her in the first place…'
Ki saw her thoughts and shook her head. "No use thinking pointless things, we need to leave and quickly clean up this mess before anyone becomes aware of our location.
Ki looked towards the deeper parts of the forest and ordered. "Clean up the traces of the body and bring it with you and all traces of our presence here as fast as possible so that no traces lead anyone back to the village."
Many black cloaked people with masks on their faces and a small mark of a mulberry tree on their left chest showed up from the darkness and began to perform their duties.
Ki looked towards Myra and waved towards her to follow. "Let's leave quickly. I'll remind you again do not think anything about betraying otherwise you will not survive tonight, everything is within my control."
Myra lowered her head upon hearing Ki's words and spoke. "Okay, let's go."
Three girls and a dog left the forest area and headed towards the village under the cover of the night while the group of masked people removed the body and began to clean up any traces of people being within the forest before returning home.
