Chapter 66 - Ambush

As soon as the arrow entered the man's chest the woman's eyes lit up and continued to play her flute.

She subtly pulled everyone close to her and sat on the ground while the others began to crouch down low.

Several arrows flew towards the cloaked men and women piercing their backs, shoulder of legs.

The blood sect members let out a cry of pain upon being hit by the arrows, after seeing that their wounds weren't fatal enough to make them die they began to remove the arrows from their bodies. "You don't get it yet? Blood sect members have high recovery so what can a couple of arrows possibly do to us if you cannot hit our vitals."

The other members began to feel a little relieved upon hearing the words and began to carefully survey their surroundings for the attackers.

More arrows flew through the air from different locations and followed light sounds of footsteps within the forest.

After changing their positions another set of arrows began to fly towards the blood sect members who began to split up to find their attackers.

The many blood sect members who had been wounded had found that while their wounds had healed their bodies began to show visible signs of fatigue.

Clashing of weapons began within the forest and the screams began once more as the blood sect members who had found their enemies encountered an ambush from another person upon attacking them.

The numbers of those ambushing had been much more than the group belonging to the blood sect which had been left to watch the outer part of the wall.

This allowed them to lure the blood sect members in different directions and still be able to outnumber them.

Those that were ambushed were either quickly killed or subdued without much resistance, those closest to the group of villagers had already fallen unconscious suddenly and finally realised that the arrows had been poisoned with something that would weaken their bodies and put them in a state of deep sleep.

The men and women of the blood sect group were defeated because of their own arrogance and the fact that they had been lured into a trap under Ki's design.

Some died from fatal arrow wounds, others died of dagger or sword wounds to their heart or throat while another one or two died from being sliced at the throat by a wire which had been wrapped around their necks from behind and then tightened.

Each members of the blood shadow group had begun to pick up their own specialised group.

One group began to specialise in archery, another in using daggers, another using swords or sabres and another that preferred to use katars, wires and other kinds hidden weapons.

Other groups had also began to take up spear arts and using pole arms but they could not take part in the ambush because their weapons did not suit the terrain because the trees would get in the way of their attacks.

The woman was one of spies within the village that was working for Ki and the family, she had been arranged to help the villagers escape from the village and coordinate with the plan to help them get to a safe place to hide out at.

The flute music was a signal to tell the blood shadow group that she had been put into danger along with the villagers and to also show where she was to avoid attacking her and the other innocent people.

Thanks to the music the archers were able to avoid any friendly fire and focus their attacks on the blood sects group and easily subdue them without harming the villagers.

Meanwhile the other spies remained within the village who wished to take part in the next task at the risk of their lives.

The villagers and the woman lay on the ground in fright, slowly a large group of masked people appeared with ropes and began to tie up the subdued people and began to search the bodies for anything that could help them escape.

Everything useful was removed from their body and they dragged the bodies away and began to clean up the dead bodies.

Some others began to collect the weapons and anything that would be worth bringing with them after burning the dead bodies.

The woman quickly escorted the villagers to a safe location to stay while the masked men cleaned up the forest of the blood sect men and began to imprison the ones they had captured.

Soon followed a thorough sweep throughout all of the forest area surrounding the village where the blood sect members were watching the gates to enter or exit the village.

Any blood sect members who had been staying outside of the village were either silently assassinated or subdued and then captured during the night.

Any additional villagers who escaped during the night had been helped find a place to stay during the time dealing with the battle.

The spies within the group of villagers who escaped were also quickly captured before they could alert the people within the village

The sun rose upon the village and a new day began, the villagers began to prepare their breakfast and then sat down with what remained of their families to eat and then went to meet with the village head.

The village head stood with a group of the key members of the blood sects group, their boss stood in front of them and smiled towards the village head. "We will begin today, it seems that several families have already tried to escape. Our men outside should have already captured them so let's just gather everyone who is left and begin to complete the final task and attack the mansion."

The village head nodded and looked towards the men and women who followed his lead. "Yes, we should attack today but do you still have someone inside of the mansion that can open the gates to let us enter?"

"There should be yes… but even if we don't have someone we have enough materials and tools to be able to climb over the walls. There are ladders in some of the barns of some of the families who use them to pick the fruits from trees." The blood sect group leader answered him. "Get a group together with anything that can be used as a weapon."

Both groups began to feel a little anticipation towards the time of the attack.

Meanwhile a couple of people within the group of villagers lowered their heads while hiding the look of amusement in their eyes.

They began to raid all of the homes within the village and the barns or sheds on their farm land to gather any weapons or material needed to gain entry into the Bombyx families mansion and begin their attack.

Soon they would be able to gain all of the families inheritance along with any information on their businesses and locations where additional sources of money could be found.

Their group had grown bigger and they would be able to quickly grow in quality and quantity with the support of the families resources.
