Leon woke up and instantly felt an unfamiliarity with his body and also a strange surge of emotions were transmitted to him, the wolf had also lay in its cage with a confused look in its eyes.
Ki helped him up sit up and spoke. "You will feel a little like this isn't your own body for a while so you need to get used to this. As you and your wolf grow you will both become stronger. What you feel are the wolf pups emotions and it's intentions, use your time to train yourself to grasp a sense of control over your changed body and slowly earn the wolfs trust with your sincerity. Tell me what it is feeling right now."
Leon felt strange at first but after hearing the his sisters explanation he thought for a moment before answering. "I think he is scared and lonely. He misses his family."
Ki thought that would be the case. "His family were most likely killed while he was stolen so what it needs right now is patience and care. Do not let it out until you have built up its trust. The best chance to make a friendship between man and beast is when they are still infants. If you gain its trust we will slowly let it out under my watch for short periods of time and then increase the time."
Leon smiled widely revealing his sharp canines. "Thank you sister but what about my body?"
"Your body contains more power than before in your skin, muscles and bones after your change and your body has been reshaped to be more easy to use your strength without making your movements slower or clumsy. In fact you should have improved considerably with your speed more than your overall strength." Ki thought for a moment. "Now that you have begun to have this connection your body shape has changed and your canines have become a little sharper so try to make sure to file them down a little to avoid being looked at strange when you smile like that. Mother will think that you have been sharpening them in order to bite people with. There should also be a new ability to increase your strength further but I recommend that you do not use it unless you feel you cannot win and your life is in danger."
Ki gave a plate of grounded raw meat to Leon. "Feed it this a couple of times a day and spend time talking to it and sending your intentions through your connection."
What followed was Ki allowing Evie to make a contract with a Gu Worm which came in the form of a poisonous caterpillar.
Unlike Ki's choice which helped to increase the odds of her silkworm combing out as the survivor of the ceremony, Evie's was completely random and the caterpillar was the final survivor.
If the two Gu worms were rated then Ki's would be rated as an emperor while Evie's would be a rank below as a king.
The amount of deaths during the ceremony and the stronger the gas gathered helped to identify the strength of the Gu Worms, Ki's was made over a longer period of time and many more bugs were sacrificed than what was used for Evie's Gu Worm.
While some Gu remain the same, some others do change and evolve after they have been given enough time and the right conditions to change.
An example would be Ki's and Evie's Gu, Ki had a silkworm which had undergone its molting once in its during its larval phase.
After molting, the larval phase of the silkworms emerge white, naked, and with little horns on their backs, this was the current stage of Ki's silkworm.
After it has molted four or five times, its body would become slightly yellow, and the skin becomes tighter, the larvae then prepare to enter the pupal phase of their lifecycle, and enclose themselves in a cocoon made up of raw silk produced.
The final molt from larva to pupa takes place within the cocoon, which provides a vital layer of protection during the vulnerable, almost motionless pupal state.
If the silkworm is allowed to survive after spinning its cocoon and through the pupal phase of its lifecycle, it releases enzymes to make a hole in the cocoon so it can emerge as an adult moth.
These enzymes are destructive to the silk and can cause the silk fibers to break down from over a mile in length to segments of random length, which seriously reduces the value of the silk threads so when it reaches this stage Ki will assist the silkworm in freeing itself in the final stages.
Evie's caterpillar also had a very similar growth stage during its evolution in which it would pass through the stages to become a monarch butterfly one day.
Through the Gu contract the blood given to Ki's silkworm had helped the newly born silkworm to pass the first molting successfully and had grown little horns on its back.
Evie's contract had just begun so was yet to surpass that stage but it helped her greatly during her poison arts practice.
Since they came in a small size and could not fly yet both Gu would have to remain in the body during most of their lives to avoid being killed since they are vulnerable but some do use their primary Gu to scout for them.
Ki usually removed her silkworm when it was showing signs of releasing silk threads from releasing some of its excess energy after consuming the poisons in her body, these came in useful to make traps since they were much tougher than ordinary silk threads.
They were strong and thin enough to be used as a weapon or be used to make traps but also could be used to make more durable clothing so Ki kept every bit of the threads released.
Ki looked at Evie and began to teach her after she had summoned the caterpillar from a small dot on her neck which appeared on her hand. "You must always keep your Gu inside your body until it matures into a butterfly since in its larvae stages it is most vulnerable. After it matures you may release it but do not keep it too far from your body as there is always a risk of someone or something damaging or killing it. If that happens then you would have to make a new Gu and raise it from scratch along with a new contract. If I had to guess your ability once it is an adult butterfly then it should release a pheromone or some form of a poison but I do not recommend using it unless against unaware enemies, if they notice your butterfly flying and releasing the poison then they may target it immediately."
Evie kept her eyes on the caterpillar in her hand. "So will this thing really become a beautiful butterfly? It's so ugly!"
Ki shook her head and sighed. "Appearance doesn't matter, what matters is its use. Now you won't have any serious side effects if you make any mistakes on your dosages of poison to increase your bodies immunity. Now you can begin learning the Qi art I will be teaching you."
Leon looked at the caterpillar with interest but then restrained himself. 'Sister gave me a wolf pup, I cannot be greedy Hmph.'
