We've arrived at our destination, and the once-abandoned city of Nettleton is bustling with activity. From what I remember, Nettleton was lost in a battle with a powerful monster with a moving Restricted Zone. The man that laid his life on the line for this city was named Grant, and he was a powerful wizard but couldn't stop what was to come.
While he succeeded, he also failed. Nettleton was rendered too dangerous to remain settled, so people left through The Teleportation Gate. What my party and I need is information, and there are select places to get information in any city. The first place is a library, but Nettleton doesn't have one. Meaning that the next best thing is an Inn.
Innkeepers or bartenders hear just about everything that passes through their business. "Alright, I want all of you to stay quiet and let me do the talking." As frustrating as that is for my party members, they nod their heads. I'm the best here when it comes to talking and finding information about people. I have a hunch that whoever rediscovered this place has a connection to The Darkness Incarnate.
I wouldn't be surprised if The Darkness Incarnate helped in the efforts. That doesn't mean he's our ally. The Darkness Incarnate isn't a person. It's a thing, a being. A manifestation of The Darkness. A power that is endless by all accounts. If we don't find him soon, he'll grow too powerful to stop. We walk around Nettleton and eventually find an Inn.
It's the only one in town. Nettleton is still relatively new, and it is still being developed in many ways. I walk up to the Innkeeper, and I take a seat on the barstool. My party spreads around the room, taking a break in different locations. I don't know why they're tired. We arrived here via Teleportation Gate. The Innkeeper lays down a pint for me.
Regular beer seems to be the only drink they serve here. I set a large bag of Gold down, and I instantly get the man's attention. "I want the names of the people that rediscovered Nettleton and activated the Teleportation Gate." These are the ways to find out who was involved with the anomaly of a situation for Nettleton.
He places his hand on the bag and slides it off the counter, and places it behind the counter and in a safe place. "There was a party that came through here. They run a guild. The leader's name is Jake. He has a guild based in Kedwein. Supposedly, they're moving shop to a bigger city soon." Jake... Not a name I've heard of yet.
It's not much, but it's a lead. Even though we've been to Kedwein in search, now we have someone that can shed some light on a potential lead. I doubt this Jake is The Darkness Incarnate, but there is a chance that he's run into him before and not know it. I turn around and see my party already at the door and ready to get out of this town.
I pick up the pitcher of beer and down it on a couple of seconds. I wipe my lips and walk towards them. We get outside and huddle up. "There is a guild leader in Kedwein by the name of Jake that might have some answers or leads we can follow up." Everyone looks happy at the prospect of going to a city that has actual relevance.

I've been walking for a few hours now, and I still have a few more to go. I'll be happy that I can fast travel back to Kedwein after I'm done getting The Maiden's Deceit. Save half the travel time. I'll be able to return to this Restricted Zone again via fast travel with Travelers Compass. A genuinely priceless item that's actually affordable for most guilds now.
I can't help wondering what Tesha plans to make with this ingredient... I'm looking forward to learning about what that might be.
