Chapter 36 - A Somewhat Popular Tavern

At Alan's tavern, he used whiskey to conquer the old drunkards in the city. This group was full of admiration for Alan who created whiskey.

Therefore, with their help, the number of people who came to the tavern gradually increased. As long as they came to drink, they would eventually become regular customers.

However, there was still a considerable way before he could complete the fourth mission. Alan could only hope that during the Harvest Festival, he would be able to amaze the world with his wine and let everyone in Rock City know of his tavern.

It was late afternoon this day and there were already many customers in the tavern. At this time, most of the people who came to drink were idlers who did not have proper jobs.

At this time, a man in a black suit came in from outside the tavern. He was not tall, but he was very sturdy. From his temperament, one could tell that he was a well-trained knight.

This man was Yupanki. He left Princess Olivia three days ago. He arrived in Rock City a while ago but he had been collecting intel on the streets.

When Yupanki first arrived in Rock City, he found that life in the city was very leisurely. It was completely different from the fast pace of the Roders Empire, so he became lazy as well.

He enjoyed this pace of life very much. This was a leisurely life that he had never experienced in the past 30 years of his life.

Every day, Yupanki would stroll leisurely in Rock City while collecting information and inquiring about Alan's Tavern. Unfortunately, not many people knew about it, so the only information that he could get was from two chatty customers outside the Elf Tavern.

Based on the information he had, he could roughly guess that there were only two taverns in Rock City. The one he was looking for would not be the Elf Tavern in front of him so it must be the shabby tavern at the end of the street.

After knowing the specific address, Yupanki went straight to the door.

Since Olivia asked him to go there directly, it meant that the relationship between the young man and the princess should be quite good.

In the past few days, there was a rumor circulating among the merchants in Rock City that a short and strong stranger had been strolling on the street recently, inquiring about something.

Dorje knew this person and had seen him before, but he did not know what kind of news he was asking about.

Alan never knew that his tavern was already somewhat famous in the city. Although there weren't many customers, there were still many regulars who knew about it.

He greeted his customers while perfecting his Harvest Festival plan. He planned that if the governor and the administrative officer didn't come today, he would just go to the governor's manor tomorrow and recommend his plan.

For Alan, the Harvest Festival was the best way to complete the fourth mission in the shortest time, so he had to get it.

Just as he was thinking in the tavern, unexpectedly, governor Kramer and Administrative Officer Sevilino entered the tavern during this late afternoon.

"Little Alan, long time no see."

"Wow, your place changed so much. There are already so many guests in the afternoon."

As soon as they entered the door, they were shocked by the customers and the new renovations of the tavern.

"There's also a strong wheat aroma!" Kramer quickly noticed the aroma of wine in the tavern.

Alan smiled. He knew that no man could refuse the taste of whiskey.

"Indeed, a new drink was released recently. Please sit down. I'll treat you to a cup of my new drink."

Alan was no longer in need of money. Two glasses of whiskey were only two silver coins. He could afford it.

When Kramer and Sevilino heard that he was going to treat them, so they did not refuse. They both looked after Alan as if he was their nephew. It was just one or two glasses of whiskey, it was not a big deal. Moreover, the young man was in no need for money.

"Mister Kramer, Mister Sevilino, try it. This is the new drink that I brewed. It's called whiskey. It's a kind of alcoholic beverage with very high alcohol content. Please take a small sip and drink it slowly."

After inviting the two of them to sit down, Alan returned to the bar counter and brought two glasses of whiskey over.

"Oh, it's much clearer now that we're close. This fragrance, it's not the black rye that you usually eat, right?" Sevilino could tell that the ingredients were extraordinary just by smelling the whiskey in the glass.

"Whiskey uses a different type of wheat. It's the same origin as rye, but it's more fragrant, and the brewing method is brand new."

Alan had been running a tavern for a long time. Whenever he talked about the wine he brewed, he was especially proud.

"Hehe, little Alan is indeed amazing. Such a good new drink and you brewed it just like that." Kramer sighed. "In addition, during this period, you must have spent a lot of effort to renovate the place. The tavern is completely different."

"Hehe..." Alan smiled sheepishly and rubbed the back of his head. "It's all thanks to my friend. Otherwise, with the little money that I have, I wouldn't have been able to renovate it. He even handled the materials."

After listening to the explanation, Kramer and Sevilino suddenly realized that it must have been the princess. Otherwise, who else in the empire would be able to provide so many magic lamps in one go?

Although the two of them were very curious about the changes in the tavern, they were not greedy nor did they try to get to the bottom of it.

"Hiss... hiss..."

Even with Alan's reminder, the first mouthful of whiskey was still too stimulating. It was different from black rye. The pure malt fragrance mixed with the aroma of high content alcohol instantly exploded between their mouth and tongue and the liquor rolled down their stomachs, it felt as if their blood was burning up along the way.

Alan was not surprised by such a scene. After all, many customers who drank whiskey for the first time would have such a reaction, mainly because the alcohol content of whiskey was too high.

"Oh, Whiskey is great! Compared to Lafite, I prefer this!" After the administrative officer recovered, he could not hide his love for whiskey.

"Yes, whiskey is indeed delicious, but I still like Lafite more. After all, one can't drink hard liquor too often." Governor Kramer also expressed his preference. "Drinking a mellow and mild liquor like Lafite is never too much." When the governor spoke of Lafite, he became complacent.

Alan nodded. "That's true. Whiskey is considered hard liquor. It's best not to drink too much. A person's metabolic ability is limited. If it's Lafite, there won't be such a problem."

The two of them were a little confused when they heard this explanation. They could not quite understand some of Alan's words.

Just as the three of them were chatting, the seven or eight tables of customers in the tavern were also discussing in low voices.

Customer a: "Hey, those two over there are the governor and the administrative officer, right?"

Customer b: "That's right. I've seen them a few times. I didn't expect that this little boss and the governor could have such a relationship."

Customer C: "Did you see that? They are having a good chat. The relationship between the little boss and the governor is definitely not ordinary!"

Customer D: "Didn't you see what's on the menu? It has magic Lafite! Who doesn't know how rare magic wine was? In a small city like this, who would believe that such a good thing existed in a remote tavern? But now that the governor is here, it seems that it can't be fake. Let's find an opportunity to gather some gold coins and have a taste."

The guests: "Yes, yes, I agree!"

Alan could not hear the whispers of the people around him. After all, he was weak...

But Kramer and Sevilino were different, they were quite strong. They heard all the conversations in the hall. The two of them looked at each other and smiled, but they did not tell Alan about this.

Alan did not see the covert understanding passed between the two of them. He was seeking the perfect opportunity to ask about the Harvest Festival.

"Mister Kramer, my guests said that the governor's residence intends to host this year's Harvest Festival?"

"Sigh..." the two of them could not help but sigh when they heard that.

In the end, it was Sevilino who answered, "It was supposed to happen, but now it might not happen anymore..."

Alan was stunned. If this was canceled, how would he complete the fourth mission?!
