Chapter 10 - A New Plan to Become Famous

When Orina and Sofia left the night before, it was already late at night. Alan tidied up the hall and went upstairs to rest.

He still woke up early in the morning. After checking the wine cellar, he returned to the hall.

Alan sat at the bar counter and looked at the tavern door across from him. He was thinking about the news that Orina brought yesterday.

She told Alan that the governor was currently looking for special food and taverns in Rock City. He was hosting an important guest from the imperial capital in a week.

In the past few days, people would occasionally bump into the governor on the streets and alleys in Rock City. They also knew that the governor would go to the elven tavern to drink today.

Alan thought about how he could use this news to promote his good wine.

After a while, he finished making his plan. He put his hands in his pockets and walked out of the door.

There wouldn't be any customers in the tavern if he just sat around doing nothing. He needed to take the initiative.

After wandering around the street, Alan came to the Elf Tavern.

At the corner in front of him, a fat, white man and a tall, thin man with a pointy mouth and monkey cheeks walked toward the Elf Tavern.

Alan thought about it carefully and confirmed that these two were the people he was looking for.

When he was very young, the governor and his administrative officer came to his tavern to drink. At that time, Alan's parents were still alive and the business in the tavern was good.

However, in the past ten years, the Elf Tavern gradually took its customers. Since the decline of his tavern, Alan had never seen the governor and his administrative officer again.

Alan calculated the distance and speed of the three people and allowed himself to bump into them at the gate.

"Governor Kramer, administrative officer Severino, good afternoon." Alan had a genial smile on his face. He put his left hand on his right chest, slightly bent forward, and nodded at the same time to greet them.

They were surrounded by bustling business. It was filled with people coming and going.

The governor and administrative officer who were held up looked at each other in confusion. They had never seen the young man in front of them before.

Alan saw the confusion in their eyes, then he explained, "I am the son of the Weil couple at the end of the street. I run my family's tavern right now. Recently, I brewed two brand-new types of wines. I hope I can have the honor to invite you two to taste them."

The young man in front of them spoke in a tone that was neither servile nor overbearing. He was calm and confident. He did not seem like a liar, but the two of them did not believe in the new wine he was talking about.

"In my memory, there has only been one tavern in Rock City since a few years ago," administrative officer Severino said.

Governor Kramer also nodded in agreement.

"Gentlemen, the tavern has always been open for business. It's just that fewer and fewer people go there, and eventually, no one knows about it anymore," Alan replied calmly. "I did not lie about the new wine. The owner of this tavern, Sophia, have drunk it before, and she also expressed her love for it."

When Alan mentioned Sofia, the mayor and the administrative officer's faces wavered.

"The two of you can give it a try. I believe that I will not disappoint you. Moreover, my tavern also has a wine that contains magic power." Alan took the opportunity to add fuel to the fire. The words 'wine that contains magic power' could definitely convince the two people in front of him.

The mayor and the administrative officer's faces were indeed filled with shock. Perhaps they still did not quite believe it, but in their hearts, they felt a trace of hope. What if there really was?

"Ahem, you said that you have wine that contains magic power? Do you know what it means?"

The governor's small eyes narrowed. It was almost impossible to see on his fat face, but Alan still saw a hint of shrewdness flash by these eyes.

"Of course, I am very clear. As for the question of whether it is true or not, you will have a conclusion after trying it," Alan replied calmly.

"Governor, it's not far from here anyway..." the administrative officer said when he saw that the governor was slightly intrigued.

"Then... we'll follow you to take a look," the governor half-heartedly agreed to Alan's request.

The three of them turned around and left the elven tavern. They did not notice that on a table in the middle of the elven tavern's lobby, the group of drunkards in Rock City who everyone knew about saw everything that happened outside the door.

From the initial ridicule to confusion and finally shock, it was like the weather in June, changing constantly...

Originally, some of them bet that Alan would be chased away by the administrative officer within the first few seconds. However, in the end, all three of them turned and left. The drunkards felt as if they encountered a ghost.

Alan brought the two of them back to his tavern. The administrative officer was greatly surprised because not long ago, he had passed by and saw the dilapidated state of the tavern. Only a short time had passed since then, but the tavern already looked brand new, as if it was rebuilt.

The governor calmly observed the environment. Although it was a little simple, it was renovated. He had not received too many guests, so the environment was still decent. He silently nodded.

"The two of you can take a look around. Wait a moment, I'll go get the wine."

Alan originally planned to take them to sit at the bar counter, but looking at the governor's big belly, he was afraid that the chair at the bar counter would be quite uncomfortable for him to sit on.

"Wait a minute, are you sure the price on the menu is right?"The governor pointed at the menu on the wall and asked in shock.

Alan looked at the governor's eyes and nodded affirmatively. He replied, "Of course, Sophia paid the same price."

The governor thought for a while and didn't ask again. He sat down at the table nearest to the bar counter.

"Go and get the wine," the administrative officer said to Alan.

The preparation process was very fast. After all, he had done the same process several times before.

"My lord, look at this... is this crystal? !" The administrative officer was stunned when he saw the wine bottles and glasses on the tray. He stuttered and asked for his superior's opinion.

Although the governor was also very shocked, he was still calm. He was not sure whether this transparent and strange-shaped cup was made of crystal.

"My Lords, this is not crystal!" Alan noticed their embarrassment ahead of time.

Hearing that it was not a crystal, the two of them heaved a sigh of relief. When they heard the following words, they became nervous again.

"This is a material called glass. It is even rarer than crystal. This wine set was specially made for my new wine, Lafite."

Alan ignored the two people who were still in shock. As he allowed the wine to breathe, he gave a simple introduction and gave them instructions on how to drink the red wine.

"My Lords, I invite you to taste it." He pushed two glasses of Lafite, which were as clear as rubies, to the two guests.

The two people, who were confused by Alan's explanation and dazzling operation, finally came back to their senses.

Following the steps mentioned earlier, they gently shook the wine glass to sniff the fragrance before putting a large amount of wine into their mouths. They let the wine move on the surface of their tongues to carefully feel the taste of the wine in their mouths.

"Hmmm..."

Alan looked at the two middle-aged men who were tasting this wine, although the scene was slightly greasy, judging from the intoxicated looks on their faces, he knew that even without the magic Lafite, things were moving in a good direction.

A warm smile hung on his face as he quietly waited for them to finish tasting the wine.
