Chapter 21 - Bring the Chocolate Upstairs

"Hmm..." Eileen muttered out a whimpering sound.

Eileen, who was lying on the bed, let out a faint moan that was almost inaudible. Her long eyelashes trembled slightly. Then, she slowly opened her eyes.

"You're awake?" Crowe looked at Eileen.

"You, you are..."

Eileen gradually regained her consciousness and heard an unfamiliar male voice. She used her arms to support her body with some effort and sat up while she saw Crowe standing beside her bed with Sandra.

"Eileen, you're awake." Sandra quickly came to Eileen's side. After she showed some concern, she introduced Crowe to Eileen.

"This young man is also a student of our school. His name is uh..." Sandra stuttered.

As she spoke, Sandra's expression froze. She had just introduced herself, but she did not know Crowe's name.

"My name is Crowe," Crowe said calmly when he felt the awkwardness.

"Yes, Crowe. He saw my distress signal for help and came to save us." Sandra explained.

Sandra further explained to Eileen, "Crowe is very strong. He killed all the zombies on our floor alone. Their dead bodies are still lying outside at the corridor as we speak."

"A distress signal?" Eileen was confused.

Eileen had fallen asleep due to a lack of food when she was lying on the bed. She didn't hear the sound of Crowe driving toward the building with his armored vehicle. However, she quickly ignored this because the connotation in Sandra's words piqued her attention!

"Sandra, is it true? Crowe is here to save us? He really came here to save us, and even killed all the zombies outside?" Eileen asked again to be sure.

"That's right!" Sandra answered excitedly.

Sandra gave Eileen, who was still in disbelief, a nod of confirmation. After verification, Eileen's gaze fell on Crowe, who had a calm face with handsome features. She struggled and used what's left of her strength to stand up and thank Crowe. However, it was difficult for her to make huge movements and she stood up slowly.

During that period, the mental pressure and lack of nutrition had almost reached her body's limit. This was most likely the reason why Eileen almost fainted for a brief moment. As Sandra saw this, she quickly stepped forward to support Eileen's shoulder.

"Well, thank you for coming to save us. Thank you very much." Eileen bowed to Crowe and thanked him genuinely.

"There's no need to thank me." Crowe accepted Eileen's gratitude calmly.

There was indeed nothing to thank him for. His actions had allowed him to bear Eileen's gratitude with ease.

"Well..." Sandra hesitated.

At that moment, looking at Crowe, Sandra wanted to say something but she hesitated.

"Do you want something to eat?" Crowe asked.

"Although it's a little blatant, could you please give Eileen something to eat?" Sandra asked timidly.

After all, she was in a different situation now and she needed a favor from someone. Crowe had already fought his way through the horde of zombies and came to save them yet she still had the guts to ask for food from Crowe. This had made her feel too audacious. However, Eileen's condition was obviously very bad and if she didn't eat, she wouldn't be able to hang on to her life much longer.

Sandra's condition was only a little better than Eileen's but she didn't ask much of Crowe. She only wanted to help Eileen to have some food. Since Crowe could kill those zombies in this short span of time, he must have brought enough supply of food and water.

"Sandra..." Eileen looked at Sandra with a complicated look in her eyes.

Although she had just woken up, she also understood that she and Sandra were in a situation where she needed help from Crowe. Not only that, she was indebted to Crowe for saving her and her friends' life. This kind of behavior might make Crowe feel like she was asking way more than she deserved and he would feel disgusted.

"Do you not plan to request food for yourself as well?" Crowe raised his eyebrows in surprise.

This made him think highly of Sandra. She was not only ethical, but she was also quite intelligent. If she was alone, she wouldn't have dared ask him for food at this point in time. This also showed that the relationship between Sandra and Eileen was deep— They were true friends.

When he saw Sandra's selfless act, Crowe appreciated the love that she had for her friend.

"Of course I have food but I didn't bring anything with me. It's all in my vehicle downstairs." Crowe answered.

When he entered the dormitory building, Crowe was traveling light. At most, he only had two pieces of chocolate in his pocket. This was just in case that he stumbled into any kind of accident and needed to replenish his energy quickly. Other than the alloy blade that he had, he couldn't afford to have anything else that might waste his space and weigh him down. Unnecessary supply in his system would only be nothing but a burden. This rescue trip into the female dormitory required him to be more alert in comparison to the incident earlier on with Marina and the others.

"These chocolates are for you. Eat them to fill your stomach." Crowe offered Eileen what he had. Crowe took them out from his pocket and handed them to the girls.

"Thank you, thank you." Eileen thanked Crowe profusely.

Sandra and Eileen took the chocolate and said to Crowe gratefully. Eileen, who was starving, tore open the packaging. The faint smell of chocolate drifted into her nose and woke up her taste buds. In the past, to maintain her figure, Eileen tried her best not to eat the chocolate. But now, it was more tempting than any delicacies she had ever tasted.

"Ugh..." Eileen grunted.

She couldn't wait to take a bite, she wanted the mellow taste filling her mouth. She brushed off her feelings. She tried to look as if she wasn't wolfing down the chocolate, but there's only so much she could do. Sandra also opened the packaging and started biting into the chocolate. She didn't expect Crowe to be so kind and friendly. She only asked for a small amount for Eileen, but Crowe gave all he had to both of them.

However, according to Crowe, there was still a lot of food in the car. Moreover, she saw that Crowe was driving the armored car recklessly near the convenience store and there would definitely be food there. Therefore, she had no intention of being fussy about food. Sandra's condition was only slightly better than Eileen's. If there was still no food she could find, she might not be able to survive the day.

While the two girls were munching on chocolate, Crowe sent a message to Joan, who was waiting for him downstairs, telling them that they could come up and that he had killed all the zombies from the first to the third floor. There was nothing to be worried about. Joan also said that she would bring some bread and water with her.

In the armored vehicle, there were three rows of seats, which were the main row, the middle row, and the last row near the trunk. The designated driver was Crowe and the passenger seat was empty. The second row was occupied by Joan and Marina and the last row was where Sean sat alone. The car was spacious enough, and except for the main row, the other two rows could fit three people if they weren't too huge.

"Is Crowe okay? It's been quite a while now and he didn't message me back." Marina, the beautiful blonde counselor, said with a worried look on her beautiful face.

"Crowe is so strong. Even if he couldn't defeat the zombies, he wouldn't have any trouble escaping that place. He's probably getting caught up doing something." Joan replied calmly.

At this moment, the black phone screen lit up. Joan and Marina immediately looked at their phones at the same time.
