"Hey… hey…. Stop that, ya piece of shit. Don't do anything to him."
"Come on, it's not like I will hurt him or something. I'm just curious."
Marc's senses were coming back, slowly. He could now hear and feel. But his sight was completely back yet and it felt like his whole body was lifeless. There was no strength left in him, aura couldn't be used.
"Hey... he's waking up. Finally… Get up, man. We've been waiting."
Marc could now see three figures. Although blurry, he could recognize the voices of the people standing before him. The ones standing there were Darius, Adrihel, and Austin.
"See, he didn't go crazy and try to kill all of us. So just untie him, Darius," said Adrihel.
Now that Adrihel mentioned it, Marc noticed that he was tied to a pillar of a ruined building. He could now see clearly. It was the same place where Lecia died and he fainted. But, now when he saw the place again, there were corpses everywhere.
'I see… Darius came in to help when I was unconscious. He could do all this easily based on what I saw back there with Adrihel. And…'
Marc suddenly realized that he could not see Urien anywhere. The last thing he saw before fainting was Urien losing his hands. He tried to get up and search for Urien but he couldn't. He was tied and even if he wasn't tied, Marc couldn't even muster the strength to stand up. Darius saw Marc's attempts and untied him.
"Urien…. Where is he?"
"He's fine for now and resting. There was a lot of blood loss but we saved him with the supplies inside the bunker."
Marc sighed, relieved that Urien was fine. At that time, Darius stepped closer to him.
"So, Marc. Tell me about this power of yours. How did you defeat all of them with that guy holding you back? There must have been at least 20 in the group that was initially attacked you and then 30 in the reinforcements that came in from the southwest."
"Huh… What do you mean I defeated them? I thought, you were the one to…."
"Hey, Marc. Why are you acting like this? You really went ape shit and killed them all." Austin cut in before Marc could finish.
Marc was perplexed. He couldn't understand what was going on.
"Adrihel… it seems we must have a nice, long chat," said Darius.
"Yeah, I should've cleared up all this before. You see, Marc…. I think you are an Indominus, like me."
"But, I was never taken to the Central Facility for the enhancement. So, how would I be an Indominus? Are you sure that I'm not just from some freaky race?"
"Yes, I did consider that possibility. But, when I ran some tests myself when you were just a child, it matched the process outcome that you would have if you had been enhanced. And I even found some strange blank spaces or slots in your DNA. Those should not have been there after an enhancement. That assures that you weren't enhanced."
"That only leaves the possibility of you being the offspring of an Indominus," said Darius.
"What! Just why in hell did you not tell me earlier?" asked Marc, shocked entirely because of the revelations he was exposed to, suddenly.
"Because a child that was an Indominus from birth is a rare occurrence. You're one of a kind. Other children died before being born along with the mother. So, it was better if fewer people knew about it. Anyways, let's go to the 40th district. It wasn't destroyed because you took down the reinforcement squad that was here and the enemy forces there were attacked from three neighboring districts at the same time."
The bunker that Austin and Zayne were going to was deserted. They thought that the enemy must have set up an ambush for the people that came there. But it was deserted simply because there wasn't anyone left in the 64th District besides the ones present here now. All this happened because the enemy forces was cautious in choosing the places they must attack first. They came in from the Great Wasteland to the east of the 64th District and attacked all communications departments first, then they attacked guard outposts to catch them unaware. Then all the citizens in the 64th District were attacked simultaneously all over the District.
This is how the 64th District fell. But because of the scouts of the neighbouring Districts, they caught wind of what was happening fast and repelled the attack.
Marc and everyone else started heading towards the 40th District which was to the north of the 64th District. Marc had now regained enough strength to walk. Urien was still unconscious because of the massive blood loss he suffered. Austin and the rest of the made a good decision by staying away from the bunker initially. There was a squad of attackers that came by the bunker and left.
Adrihel did not deactivate his androids yet, preparing for anything that could happen. Being cautious, they took some off-road paths to the 40th district. The main pathway towards other districts must be blocked by those enemies. Luckily, they found two large rovers and some fuel in the nearby warehouse that was deserted. The travelling time was cut down to an hour because of this.
Everyone boarded the rovers and they departed. Marc, now, had no problem moving his body but it pained everywhere. Seeing him make a contorted face, Adrihel asked "Are you okay? What's happening to you, now?"
"It's just pain all over my body. Nothing else… Dad, what happened to me? What did I do after I lost my senses? I don't remember anything."
"I was checking the guard outpost near Urien's house when I heard people screaming. I ran towards the sound and found you and Urien there. You were taller, with a buffed up body and there was an intense aura coming from you. It wasn't your normal aura ability."
"What! Not my usual aura ability. Does that mean that I have another ability besides my aura? You gotta be kidding me, there's no registered Indominus with two different abilities."
"That's why I was so shocked. Your aura ability was powerful enough but this….. This was something else. You fought all of them head on without any regard for the bullets and blasts that came at you. Even if you seemed to have gone crazy, you covered yourself in aura. And I'm not talking about that inflated shield-like defense, this time your aura was completely skin tight and flexible. That removed all restrictions on mobility, making you impossible to beat."
"Skin-tight aura defense structure… I was trying to practice that for years. But I could never get it to be flexible and it always consumed my aura faster. How did I perfect it there?"
At that time, Darius who was sitting behind them said "It is an exclusive ability of us enhanced beings, we learn through battle. But the talent you possess decides the speed of your learning through battle. I saw your battle and I think that you, boy… You have excellent talent. Talent that far surpasses mine."
"Darius… Who are you? How do you have abilities if you aren't an Indominus?" the rover jerked a bit due to a small rock, Marc felt spasms of pain on his back and legs.
"Ahhh, you should feel that pain due to the excessive use of aura. It will be fine after your body recovers the lost aura. As for who I am, I'm you and your Adrihel's ally. And I have some business with your biological father, too."
"My biological father…. Huh!! Do you know who he is?" Marc asked Darius, shocked by his sudden claim to know Marc's father.
