When she first died, it was mid summer. She had been locked up since early spring. By that time, the empire was suffering attacks from an enemy unknown to Lei Wenyan. She didn't have time to be concerned about who was attacking when she had her own problems to work out.
All she recalled was that a lot of things were in chaos. It was nothing major, she assumed, since the main leads always took it upon themselves to see her from time to time. But from what she gathered, there was a small problem with everything. When she died, she was quite sure there was something dire. Maybe it was just the fact that she was losing her life.
Now that she woke up, everything seems peaceful. She hadn't seen any signs of war anywhere. The sky would have been in flames and she would have heard shouts for help. Everything would have been in a state of urgency. It seems that the emperor subdued the problem.
Lei Wenyan gleamed proudly. 'As expected of the omnipotent emperor, nothing is ever above him.' She thought.
He must have used that mess to solve her 'small' problem. It would make more sense to blame the crimes on an enemy. She would use that excuse in case need arose.
Another thing was that she left Ruan Shaoqing pregnant although, to her delight, there were problems with it. Since they were already in winter, if that pregnancy survived, she must have given birth.
Lei Wenyan gritted her teeth in anger and whispered to herself, "You're dreaming of you think you'll have the chance to have that baby."
Lei Wenyan planned to doing Ruan Shaoqing one better. She would kill that child. It's still young and without defenses. If she couldn't kill it, she would deform it. She would let Ruan Shaoqing raise a little monster.
Lei Wenyan thought. If she cut off the tongue, stuck needle on the muscles at the inner ends of the elbow and knees, the child would be as good as useless. If he were a boy, he would never rule as emperor.
How would the emperor feel about it? Well, at least he would learn how she felt, living the rest of her life that way simply because he let it be. She would be incognito so that they would never find who did it.
She nodded to herself. Since she had a goal, all she had to do was come up with a perfect plan.
After that, she would have to find a way of gaining the emperor's favor again. It had been long. She really needed him. (A/N: Ha! Ew! Haaaaa. Sounding too horny!)
Other concerns were not hers. Her world consisted on only three people: herself, the emperor and Ruan Shaoqing. The walls that made it up were also three people: herself, the emperor and her little angel. Ruan Shaoqing and her offspring where stubborn weeds that she needed to pull out of the form work.
So after sorting her small world, Lei Wenyan's mind slowly calmed. Sooner or later she would get rid of Ruan Shaoqing. For the time being, she would be patient.
Just then, a maid stepped through the doors. "Young Miss, you're awake!" She exclaimed with joy.
Lei Wenyan wanted to snap her neck. 'Will these idiots stop with this young Miss nonsense!?'
Lei Wenyan glared at the maid, "Who are you?"
The maid ran to Lei Wenyan's side and knelt down with a thump. "Young Miss, you can't have forgotten so easily. Young Miss it's me, I've been with you since childhood."
The loudness of the maid's voice started a headache for Lei Wenyan. "Speak softy," she commanded sharply.
The maid immediately moved back and held her mouth. She hadn't ever received such a tone from her master
"Did you not hear my question properly? I asked who you are. Why are you tell me stories? Do you want to gain favor?" Instead of sounding like questions, they were accusing remarks.
The maid began to cower, "Ah-ah-ah- no, you-young Miss."
"CAN YOU SHUT UP!" She shot, "don't stutter while next to me." She got a little angry.
The maid looked at Lei Wenyan with a complicated expression, "Young Miss I-"
"Get out. If you can't follow a simple order, then you're worthless," she said ultimately.
The maid's heart was unsettled, "Young Miss, please forgive me."
"Forgive you?" Lei Wenyan parroted, "Okay!" she smiled.
The maid bowed gratefully wondering how she had angered her Miss so much.
"Who brought you here?" Lei Wenyan asked calmly.
The maid bowed, her previous excitement vanished completely. "Old Mo, bought me from the slave market."
"So you're worthless from the beginning," Lei Wenyan whispered with her eyes narrowed into slips.
Hearing such words, the maid raised her head in shock before she ducked it back down.
Why did her Miss strangely resemble a snake just now?!
But she didn't refute. There must be a problem with Miss otherwise, why would she act so oddly?
"Go back to whoever brought you here. Tell them to give you a good bashing and send you back to the flea market," Lei Wenyan randomly decided.
The maid couldn't hide her shock. She looked up at her Miss with her mouth agape.
"What are you waiting for?" Lei Wenyan asked then leaned in, "Aren't you the one that asked for forgiveness?"
The maid: "...." !!!!
The maid could not believe the brain cell on which her Miss was working? Why was it so twisted? She stayed paralyzed by even more shock.
"Perhaps you'd like some more forgiveness?" She thought for a second then said, "Okay! Tell them to sell you to the brothel at the cheapest price."
The suggestion of being sold to a brothel brought the maid back to life. "Young Miss!" She kowtowed and hit her head onto the floor with loud knocks.
Lei Wenyan scoffed, "since you're so good at it. Hit your head until it bleeds, then I'll consider what to do with you."
The maid really felt like she was in a terrible dilemma. What should she do now? "Miss, I'll go now," she bowed and quickly crawled out the door.
Lei Wenyan rolled her eyes, "Tsk! Pretentious."
The maid ran out of the corridor into the courtyard. She paused to caught her breath. Her heart was beating fast. For the first time in her life she felt as though someone's mere presence was greatly sucking the life out her.
When did the young Miss become like... like that?
