Ted considered letting Eknie deal with the bribery, but he was itching to make progress.
The whole point of his plot was to incite the spark of true rivalry between the neighbors. If the Clayish held a strongly negative opinion about the Lakish, they would see Ted as a national hero for the killing of the bear.
He rubbed his hands together, fully conscious of the fact that it made him look like a particularly handsome housefly, and dived into the socializing area of the rye team.
"It's an important match coming," Ted said to the captain of the team. "I hope your reward will be great as well."
"Sure," the fellow laughed.
He looked like he had not seen a good meal in a while. While a blind team game was indeed intellectual stuff and intellectual stuff often worked better on an empty stomach, there had to be a limit to the poor treatment of the greatest minds of the nation.
