"Do you actually think that someone could live here?" Zerielle asked.
"Be quiet," Ted commanded her. It would do them no good to make the inhabitant aware of their presence, but was it good to sneak up on someone tough enough to fare well in this tropical land where even coconuts harbored murderous intent?
On the other hand, it was not such a bright idea. Ted excused himself and went to bang on the wall of the shack.
"No one is home," Zerielle said and peeked inside. "Uhhuh...Ted...you better see this."
"Why, are there human skulls or...oh."
Indeed, the shelves were stacked full with skulls. Granted, some of them were just animal skulls, like birds or monkeys, but a few of them were unmistakably human and their anatomy suggested that they were grown males with one exception. Ted knew this stuff. Any occultist worth his salt could tell a real skull from a fake one and a male death's head from a female one.
