It was very exciting to be inside a labyrinth.
Right from the start, Ted noticed that something was different now. Whereas the caves had been cozily creepy at their worst before the body-kidnapping of their master, now there was a decidedly ominous undertone in everything, even the echo sounded actively malicious, like it was somehow trying to mislead the manhunters and make their task harder.
There was no light other than the flames of their torches.
Shadows were bouncing and dancing on the walls with a liveliness that was usually reserved for actual, breathing creatures. The high cor felt his heartbeat quicken. It was an adventure, and a dangerous one - after carefully testing each and every step for a few minutes so that they would avoid triggering any traps, they decided to just barge onwards.
It was a fool's mission, of course, or it would have been, if not for the hounds.
