Ted and Zerielle arrived. The village was lulling itself into sleep already; the streets were silent. Gone was the colorful architecture of the capital, replaced instead with dull browns and grayish wood, and all surfaces seemed to be covered in resin or something like that. This was a mystery to Ted. He did not know what purpose the resin served.
All the doors and the windows were sealed shut. There were barely any people outside, and the few who guarded the streets were not much help, seemingly drunk out of their minds and wailing. It was just what one would have expected in a village on the edge of a violent rebellion.
There was no smoke in the sky. No one was warming the houses, at least, not with wood. This was concerning - had someone killed the entire population of the village? Nevertheless, the duo knocked on door after door, and after going through a dozen houses, they decided to force their way into a big building that looked like a townhouse of some kind.
