The shark jumped up. The horrified man screamed as the fish dragged him under the ice.
There was nothing left of Makko except for a trail of blood on the ice.
Ted looked at Eknie.
The sled dogs were howling now, and barking, too, horrified by the violent end of their master.
Ted knew he had gone too far, but there were so many seals screaming his name inside his head, HERO, that was what the seals yelled at him as he cracked open the container of cookies Makko had been saving for later and really, the seals would be so grateful to him that there was no reason to worry. He had now become a part of Finner nature by ridding the ice creatures of the pestilence that had been Makko, and surely, the spirit of the sick seal that he had killed would be eternally grateful to him. There was no doubt - Ted was royalty, a killer of kings, a great hunter.
