The ice did not crack. Ted noticed that he had been holding in his breath and finally let his lungs get a mouthful of the crisp air. Of course Makko knew what he was doing. He had lived his entire life in the middle of this frosty scenery. Of course he knew where to step, and as he had not warned the cult leader about any specific spots, it had to be safe to walk around a bit.
"Is this safe?" Eknie asked, pointing towards what looked like a trail of some animal in the thin layer of snow covering the ice.
"Yes, that over there is safe. But try not to slip and fall. Many people injure their heads when slipping and falling."
Ted and Eknie stretched out their legs a little. The ice felt treacherously comfortable, but the crispness in the freezing air was a bit much.
