There were only a few things that were as much fun as talking with someone in a complete state of verbal insanity. While Farthings did not get onto his own feet, and he still had to be watched quite closely, the male nurse and the cult leader asked their patient all sorts of questions and amused each other with wild speculations about the origin of the madness of the good doctor.
"What do you think about his birds?" Galon asked, obviously holding back laughter. "I could see him having hallucinations, but birds are so harmless. Usually people get all kinds of crazily scary visions with my help."
"I need your assistance with many things, then, it seems." Ted chuckled. "No, but truly, he has always been an odd man. I have no idea why the birds in particular fascinate him so, but I do know that he lacks most parts of a normal, inbuilt fear reaction."
"You will have to eventually reveal more, Ted. Can't miss such an important detail about a man like him."
