"Come with me," Madorn said, frowning. "I have a feeling that something is awaiting us behind those trees."
"What something?" Ted grabbed Mad's sleeve. He didn't want to get into every endeavor a freshly baked occultist came up with, even if the scientist was an exceptional mind.
"There are signs of human life nearby. We need to find out whether they are a friend or a foe."
A jolt of desperation passed through Ted's body. This was it, Madorn had gone completely insane.
"Human life? Are you mad?! There is nothing here!"
"Here. Give me your torch. This one here...is a rabbit trap."
Madorn shoved the torch into the darkness, illuminating a snare that had most certainly been made by human hands, or at least something closely resembling such things.
Ted gawked at the trap. It had not been a successful one, but nevertheless, now they knew there were others here, people who could hunt. Such people could be useful to the Society.
