Ted felt the vibrations pass through his entire body. It was unnerving to have all his extremities shake, as if in a coffee-induced mild seizure. He could barely save his face by dashing back into his cabin, but once he closed the door, he found that he could not lock it. He was still shaking, even though there was nothing in his vicinity that would have warranted such nervousness.
He walked to his tea pot and tried to pour himself some calming herbal tea, eastern variety, the good stuff.
He almost dropped the tea pot.
Ted put the item back down and pulled a chair, with an uneven motion that would have been a most laughable thing, had anyone seen him in action.
He drew in a sharp breath through his teeth. He was not supposed to smoke here, in his cabin, with plenty of flammable material around, but heavens, he needed a cigarette right now.
