No other witnesses. An accident, a terrible accident, Eknie was completely innocent. Her pistol just happened to be completely silent and the bullet accidentally found its way to the head of the captain. What a tragic freak accident! Especially as Ted fell over the man in such an angle that the dead fellow was thrown overboard – yes, hm, terrible.
What was even more terrible was the fact that the accidental murderers simply had tea afterwards, with not a care in the world and especially with no bad feelings about the death of that competent and pleasant fellow.
"I understand why you do what you do, Ted, I really do," Eknie said. "But we need a new one."
A new captain. That was easier said than done.
