Staff sergeant Warren and Corporal Mangen ran to the cockpit to turn on manual flying mode and to pull up the navigation system to see what went wrong and to see where exactly they were. Sergeant Bleau and Private first class Goring ran to the equipment bay to secure and prepare the lunar tank in case of a rough landing. Private Herr and Sherwood went to make sure Sydney and Sarah are safe and are there to keep them calm in the case of a crisis. First Sergeant Frene runs to the equipment bay so he can mount the exoskeleton mecha assigned for him so he can do external repairs on the ship. Finally, Captain Wolfe goes to the communication room and puts out a signal to all ships in the area. "HELLO HELLO, THIS IS THE USS KIDD. WE ARE IN TROUBLE PLEASE SEND HELP WE ARE CARRYING A SCIENTIST AND AN AMBASSADOR ON BOARD. WE ARE INBOUND FOR....." the transmission was cut off when the satellite was damaged from an unseen small asteroid.
Captain Wolfe slammed down the microphone in anger knowing what had happened and used his earpiece to contact First Sergeant Frene. "Hey First Sarge, I need you to go outside and repair the satellite and antenna so I can finish the message for our rescue," Wolfe said in an almost hurried manner.
1stSgt. Frene went into the cockpit of the mule and started it up. He hooked the tethered cable to the belt so the mecha won't be blown away while on top of the ship. He closed the hatch and turned on the screen so he could pilot it. It came to life with a jolt as it perfectly mimicked the controllers' motions. Frene made his way to the ship's maintenance door to exit the equipment bay. He hit the button and the door slid open and the vacuum of space started flowing in the empty room. He stepped outside and climbed the ladder on the outside. He reached the top and looked around. It was pitch black besides the fire coming from the ship thrusters and the giant planet that was blue and green just like Earth but was about five times larger. Frene made his way to the damaged antenna he saw that it was snapped and was barely hanging on so he searched in his equipment box that was attached to the mule to see what he can use to fix it.
As Frene pulled out the handheld welding tool from the container, a large wave of baseball-sized meteors made its way towards the ship and hitting one of the rocket boosters causing it to lose stability and losing power. The loss of power made the ship make a nose dive towards the planet and caused lots of rough turbulence knocking 1stSgt. Frene off the ship. Luckily for him, the metal cable kept him from going too far off the ship.
Inside the ship at the time of the meteor strikes all of the crew shook and fell from their places. In the cockpit, the two pilots were trying their best to stabilize and level out the ship but without that extra power, the ship stayed in a nose-diving position going fast towards the planet pulling them in. Captain Wolfe stood up after being knocked down and looked around the communications room seeing that there was little damage in there. "Frene what happened up there are you ok? What's the damage look like?" Wolfe said as he raided to Frene. "Looks like a small meteor shower hit us in the rear knocking out power to the rear left thruster. I am fine but I am hanging by the cable can you try to pull me in so I can get back to work." Frene radioed back to Wolfe as he adjusted the mecha and tried to pull himself along the cable back to the ship. But before he could get close the ship took a violent turn as SSGT Warren tried to level out the ship causing the metal cable to fling and slam Frene back first into the side of the ship. The impact of the mecha hitting the ship seemed minor but to the mecha, it cracked the power cell and started to malfunction. "Captain my power cell is damaged please get me in. I don't know how much longer I can last out here I'm losing power and oxygen fast." Frene sent the message over radio to Wolfe frantically losing the cool nature that soldiers are supposed to have in a crisis.
