Through the mirror Jiang Meili glared at him and mumbled, "Shameless."
No one talked until Fu Zhen was done drying her hair.
"Why are you suddenly behaving like this?" Jiang Meili asked Fu Zhen.
"Behaving like what?"
"You know like...like you fell in love with me all of a sudden. And I am sure that's not the case so don't try to convince me otherwise. Tell me honestly what's going on that mind of yours?" Jiang Meili asked in such a tone giving him no way to escape.
Fu Zhen stared at Jiang Meili for a minute or so as if he wasn't sure how to reply to her. After a long time Fu Zhen finally opened his mouth when he saw his wife won't let him go without knowing the truth.
"Actually, I don't know how to tell you. Even I myself find it hard to believe, so I am not sure if my answer will satisfy your curiosity."
"Try me," Jiang Meili almost instantly replied, indicating Fu Zhen to continue, which he did.
"Do you remember one month before your 25th birthday I had an accident and didn't wake up for almost a day?" asked Fu Zhen. Seeing her nodding, he continued,
"When I was lying on that hospital bed, I had a weird dream. But it felt so real that I…"
"What kind of dream?" Jiang Meili asked as she guessed that he might also know about them being in some supporting character in a book.
"In that dream, I saw myself dying and you being in coma within one week of your 25th birthday. And our children for some reason ended up with the Jiang Family, mainly your friend Zhang Yu and not the Fu Family. The dream felt so real that it scared the hell out of me. And so for the past few months, I have been eliminating all my enemies but still your accident happened.
That's when I had another dream. Unlike the previous dream, in this one I found out that we are actually living in a book and our estranged relationship was nothing but the plot of the book.
I just wanted to give our relation a chance since a lot has changed since your 25th birthday. I am alive and you are also not in coma."
A good amount of time passed but Jiang Meili didn't say anything. Fu Zhen thought that she didn't believe him and so he said, " It's okay if you don't believe me. Even I don't…"
"I believe you," Jiang Meili said, staring straight at him. However she didn't tell him anything about knowing this for a long time.
Her answer shocked Fu Zhen so much that he couldn't say anything. He just kept staring at her.
The silence was broken when the forgotten Xiaobao started crying. Both at once turned their heads towards Xiaobao who was screaming for their attention.
Jiang Meili then went towards Xiaobao and asked Fu Zhen to call the nanny.
Fu Zhen asked the nanny to get Xiaobao and then went to the study instead of the master bedroom.
He needed time to process what just happened. He wasn't sure what to feel about Jiang Meili accepting whatever he said.
