1 year later
______________
In the spacious open room lied a piano. A small figure with an afro that was large relative to its size. He was sitting in a disciplined posture. His back was straight as a pole despite all of this he was relaxed. He was most comfortable in this position. It was a state where he felt the most natural when he would sometimes feel like he didn't belong like he was an intruder. He hated it, feeling like a foreign entity. He hated that he couldn't refute the fact that he WAS a foreign entity even more. Not only to this family but to this world, to this dimension even.
Yet when he sat at the piano he felt as if he did belong. He remembered all the times his parents lovingly sacrificed and gave away their time and love for him in these few years. For in this moment of clarity he felt like himself. This was HIS family and likewise this is HIS world and dimension. He was a full fledged citizen and no one could take that away from him. Not even the being that brought him here, for he wouldn't allow it.
"Cruz you ready to go?!" A feminine voice called out. Soon the source of the voice revealed itself. Celeste Terrazed
"Yes Mommy!" Cruz yelled back.
At this moment he was practicing scales. He had learned a lot of them since starting lessons with his father and mother. Noe he was able to improvise with ease. Of course it was basic stuff such as playing basic chords in a major or minor key while playing the scale the key belonged to. His parents have instead made him practice scales even to the point where he felt exhausted from it.
"You ready for your first day of kindergarten?" Wayne said following his wife down the stairs.
"Yeah!" Cruz exclaimed excited. This was a major checkpoint the start of his school life like his very own journey. He felt like he did in his old life when he would start a new Pokemon game. All new places to explore and people to meet and not only that the advancements in science and math were much further ahead than in his previous life a lot of it thanks to Howard Stark. Sure he had seen Tony Stark on the news a couple of times but it didn't feel as real. Only when he had sat down to read a history book did he truly realize he was in Marvel. This completely psyched him out and he would bubble with excitement every time he thought about it.
Cruz had much more curiosity for learning now. When he was younger he had only been interested in playing and running around and trying new things and ideas to cause trouble. But his mind was beginning to grow clearer due to his developing brain and his continued use of his powers. It had only occurred to him to truly confirm he was in Marvel by reading a history book a few months ago. He had also felt the need to brush up on the different subjects he had learned in his last life from where he left off. However due to his lack of maturity he had not thought about those things hence he could barely remember how to multiply polynomials.
"You sure you got everything?" Wayne asked. Cruz who was about to run out of the door paused turned around and then darted to his father.
"Bye Daddy love you." Cruz said.
"Love you too buddy. Have a good first day!"
Cruz bulleted back out the front door where his Mom stood smiling.
They had just arrived at the school. Cruz unbuckled himself in the back seat and opened the door. He hopped out the back seat landing with a bend in his knees. It was a familiar feeling for some reason. He grabbed his Fathers hands as they crossed through the parking lot.
Along the way Cruz had gotten annoyed at how comically large his backpack was on him so he handed it to his father to hold. This scene had made more than a few passerby's chuckle since their attention was already honed in on Waynes model like appearance.
Arriving at the entrance Cruz grumbled. He had forgotten what it felt like to be in crowded spaces. Sure he had been to the park and the grocery store with his parents occasionally but their part of town was a lot more secluded from the rest since the wealthy valued their peace. But this scene in front of him immediately crushed any expectation of fun in his mind. Kids were mindlessly screaming and laughing. One kid was even picking his nose. A lot of them all had unknown sticky substances on their hands.
Wayne witnessing this scene thought to himself that maybe he really did get lucky with Cruz because at least Cruz's bad behavior could be linked to his outstanding intelligence. "Do I really have to go? I change my mind." Cruz begrudgingly walked towards the registration area. "You never had a choice to begin with kiddo." Wayne perked an eyebrow hearing his son. "Fine but dont get mad at me if there's an email or a phone call for you in the middle of the day."
Walking up to the desk the attendant smiled at them. "Hello. Would you please give me his last name?"
"Terrazes." Cruz grumbled at his lack of acknowledgment it didn't last long as his father gave him a look. Not much needed to be said after that.
"Ok, there you are!" The woman ignoring Cruz's reaction found his name on a piece of paper held on a clip board with many more papers attached to it she then handed him a name tag. This only made Cruz roll his eyes in an exaggerated manner. "Your teacher is Ms. Roberts in room 11. Have a nice first day!"
Wayne walked down the hall way navigating through the crowd with Cruz quickly following behind him still angry at being ignored. "Ah, here it is! All right buddy I can't go in with you now remember me and mommy love you."
"Ok." Cruz said fully brainstorming how to give the school hell while not getting trouble through finding loopholes. After all adults rarely knew how to deal with genius adults much less children.
"It's completely fine if you don't want to go jus say you don't and we can leave right now." Wayne right now looked a little distressed at his sons lack of emotion and reaction.
"Ok." Cruz said not noticing his father anymore.
Cruz walked into the classroom and found a seat at one of the tables.
Ir had been 20 minutes since Wayne dropped off his son and right now both parents were a mess. Wayne believe it or not was crying Celeste at the same time was cheering him up while also holding back her tears since this was the first time they had left Cruz without them. "H-He didn't even react…" Wayne sniffled remembering his sons stoic reaction to being left without them for the first time. They laid there on the couch for a few minutes reminiscing the different memories of Cruz they had even treasuring the bad times. If Cruz was here at this moment he would had a laughing seizure.
BRRIIINNGGG!
This moment was cut was cut short soon after when the house phone rang. Celeste picked it up reading the caller I.D. "It's the school. Oh lord." She took a breathe wiping away her previous melancholy feelings.
"Hello?"
With expectant eyes her husband who was just sad a few moments ago was trying to discern what was happening.
"Yes that's me."
"—Y a-l w-n- o-t"
"What?! We'll be there soon."
Hanging up the phone Celeste got up from the couch and ran for her keys and jacket in quick motions.
"Babe we need to go."
Arriving at the school Wayne and Celeste at a quick pace got to the front office. Upon arrival the dean was waiting there for them.
"Mr and Mrs. Terrazes?"
"Yes, Wayne Terrazes nice to meet you."
Wayne put out his hand to which the dean gave him a firm shake. However that did not stop both parents from noticing his lips pursed in stress and frustration.
"Lets head to my office."
