Chereads / The Magic Rings / Chapter 89 - Chapter 89

Chapter 89 - Chapter 89

Grey was invisible in a tall tree overlooking the battle that was happening between the tier 2 mages from Team 2 and the tier 2 mages from Ruhen.

The three lieutenants were shocked when they heard Grey's voice directly into their ears, as far as they knew such a spell did not exist in the world they were living in.

"Attack immediately after my signal, you should see it."

'Even I have difficulties doing heavy damage against tier 2 mages, I can only have them help me.'

The trio were now very shocked because they heard him again, they tried to look around them as a subconscious respond.

"Don't look around, you will blow my cover."

Grey did not blame them, such a respond can be considered mild, as a normal person who heard a voice directly into the ears who shout in panic and try and look around for the source.

7… 6… 5…

As the seconds counted down, Grey looked into the distance from his high position in the tree, he could see a large plume of smoke created by the [Inferno Storm Legion] who seemed to love fire.

He turned to look at the Mountain range that seemed to span on forever directly in the direction that they were going.

'Are you a treasure or curse to the northern kingdoms?'

Grey looked at the Dralia Mountain Range and asked as if he was talking to a person.

3… 2… 1…

"Cover yourselves!"

BOOM! FLASH!

Qila shouted to her two teammates an explosion of green light happened on top of their heads. The explosion light just passed around their protected bodies and did not do anything.

"ATTACK!"

"Huh?"

John asked in perplexity as the light did not do anything.

"THAT WAS THE SIGNAL YOU MORON!"

As if validating her words, an attack targeting the tier 2 mages from Ruhen came from behind the trees of their left.

Grey had left the giant tall tree after launching the flash of light, he did not want to have his ability to get invisible to be known by anyone.

Seeing Grey attacking made John to lose his doubt, a tier 1 mage attacking a tier 2 mage is one who is sure to succeed.

And to prove Grey was sure, the mage that he targeted did not even try and defend himself and was cut apart into four sections by Grey's tier 1 combination spell, [Triple Whirlwind Blade Wheels].

Seeing Grey succeed at killing a tier 2 mage like it was killing a seating duck the trio did not waste time and got rid of the other five mages who did nothing to defend themselves.

The Ruhenese mages all seemed very sick as they were heavily sweating and their skin developed all type of warts, it seemed very disgusting to see a once beautiful woman turn into that.

When the work was done, Grey approached the trio of tier 2 mages.

"Recruit Grey, nice save. Thank you for saving us."

John Ward opened the conversation by thanking Grey, the man had a relieved face as he dropped to the ground.

"Grey good work with the heavy lifting."

Qila smiled to Grey as she fixed her messed up short blond hair into a pony tail.

"I was just doing my job lieutenants."

"Grey that was some spell, I am not going to even asked how it works, but damn that was powerful."

John commented whilst on the floor panting for air.

When the tension that was keeping John focused was gone, he started to go back to his cowardly self as sweat started to develop on the second lieutenant.

The fellow just released that he was very close to death.

June just nodded to Grey, though as someone who shares two elements with Grey she wanted to ask to buy his spells for a long time, but she always chickened out on the last second.

Her pride as a spell genius as well always got in her way, she was a tier 2 mage who could be considered a genius at designing spells, how could she ask her tier 1 subordinate for spells.

Qila turned serious as she looked at Grey.

"How are the casualties on your side?"

"Three are dead, Lindberg, Spring and Porter."

Grey said with a neutral voice.

"Where are the rest?"

Qila did not seem perturbed with the deaths of her subordinates.

"I had them retreat a few kilometres to the rear."

Qila had a thoughtful look on her face.

"Was their condition that bad?"

"Kohler and Louis had drained their mana whilst putting up a defence."

Grey glanced at John who on the ground.

'Lt Ward seems to have a talent for defence, he can plan ahead three steps at the time, allowing him to control his mana usage even in difficult situations.'

John was the best defence and control expert Grey had ever seen, even under the assault of three attacking mages, he managed to protect himself and the two other lieutenants.

"Move out!"

Qila ordered.

***

PANT! PANT! PANT!

SWISH. SWISH. SWISH.

The sound of a person breathing heavily as they ran through a forest could be heard. The person who was running seemed to be a female who was in her late teens.

The woman had blond hair and grey eyes, she had a nice clean face, though she could not be considered the most beautiful woman in the world, she was above average.

"HOLD!"

The woman stopped when she head the shouting of woman with a deep voice.

"State your name and affiliation?"

The woman who was shouting asked in a deep cold voice.

"Tier 1 mage, Signe Cicely Frenzel. Team member of Team 23 under the leadership of 1st Lt Otto Summers."

The woman responded in a calm voice as she knew this was protocol, she had made it back.

"What is your registration number?"

The woman in the distance still asked some more.

"Registration number 12TUB348HC."

Signe did not seemed afraid she was asked more questions.

"Mage Frenzel, where is the rest of your team."

Another voice joined the conversation, this time it was a male voice, it sounded very neutral without showing any emotion unlike the cold woman

"They are dead."

Signe answered succinctly without emotions.

"Why did you not die with them?"

The neutral male voice continued.

"I had the chance to escape, I took it. I knew if I was alive I could still make them pay."

Signe had a cold look on her face when she remembered the killer of her teammates, she grit her teeth in hate, she would have her revenge even if it was her undoing.

"Let her through."

The neutral voice ordered the deep voiced woman.

Mage Signe Cicely Franzel passed the check point and got out of the forest, she could see the giant wall that was the final defence line of the Dralia Mountain Range War Campaign.

This place was the prize that Arin and Rawyth want to remove from the hands of Ruhen.

The wall was built by the Arinese when they were fighting Rawyth all those months ago, but through the use of the [Vermont Battalion], it was breached which forced the Arinese to retreat.

The wall had been fixed by the Ruhenese and they were going to use it against the Arinese, how ironic.

Mage Signe entered behind the walls, she had to go give her statement as standard procedure.

"…A grey haired man had first killed three of my teammates by himself…"

"…Afterwards he turned his attention to us…"

"…I saw him double cast two combinations spells like a master, more like a freak…"

"…It was because of my family's trump card spell that I survived…"

"…The grey hair man did not chase me which is something I find weird…"

Mage Signe Cicely Franzel finished her statement.

"Mage Franzel, I believe you are going to get a large number of merits."

"Huh?"

"A person of that profile is on the wanted list, look."

The male who was taking Signe gave her a sketch of a man with an average face, blue eyes and most importantly, grey hair.

"It's you, so your name is Grey Gram, how apt is your name."

The woman had a cold look on her face, she was releasing large amounts of bloodlust which made the man who was next to her very uncomfortable.

"I want to join the hunt."

Signe demanded with a deep voice.

The man pointed towards an assuming building in the camp.

"The intelligence division?"

The man nodded, not having the ability to talk due to Signe's release of mana and bloodlust, after he is just a normal human soldier.
