"Rowena? What're you doing out here in the cold?", Alisa's pale figure entered the balcony and stood beside her.
The small breeze passing through didn't bother Rowena but it clearly effected her sister as she ran her hands up and down her arms to try and warm herself.
"Just, thinking", Rowena gazed up at the stars again. There were so many of them, all shining brightly. Rowena wondered if her mother was amongst one of them. Or if she was was looking at the same scene she was, just at another place.
She flinched slightly when Alisa placed her cold hand on hers.
"Are you thinking about your mother?", Rowena looked for any sign of malice behind her question. But all she saw was pure honestly and sympathy and- something else. Was it, love?
"I'm sorry about her", she too gazed up at the stars. Her eyes looked so beautiful, Rowena could see the stars reflection in her silver hoes. The light from inside the ballroom cascaded on her soft skin. She looked flawless, perfect, like an angel.
"You have nothing to be sorry about. And neither do I", Alisa looked her in the eyes, "what happened was out of our control".
"Is there any way I can comfort you? Mother always dose it when I'm sad".
"How do you know I'm sad?", Rowena quirked her brow and laughed.
"I can see it in your eyes", she told truthfully, "I also see the look you have when you're alone. You may wear a smile when you're around people, but you're not truly happy. You're just doing what you're told, what you've been taught as a princess".
"So you've basically been stalking me".
"Wha-?! N-no I haven't!!", Rowena smiled as Alisa's cheeks flushed, "I w-was just observing". She pouted slightly.
"Pffhaha I'm just messing with you", Rowena laughed and gave her soft hair a ruffle.
"H-hey", Alisa placed her hands atop her head but she didn't seem angry. Instead she smiled softly from making her sister laugh.
"I-"
"Hmm? What is it?"
Alisa took a breath and squeezed her eyes shut, "I-i love you", she opened her eyes when she finally said it and smiled, "I love you Rowena. And I hope you except me as your true sister".
"Oh Alisa", Alisa couldn't see the look in her sisters eyes as her curly red hair was hiding her emerald hoes. She gave a small squeak when Rowena pulled her close and held her tightly.
"You'll always be my one and only true sister Alisa, even if we're not related by blood", Alisa's silver hoes widened when she finally saw the look in Rowen's eyes.
"A-are you crying?"
"N-no, just got a little dust in there. Damn wind", Alisa laughed as Rowena tried to act cool and hugged her back even tighter.
"You're the best sister I could ever ask for".
"D-does that mean we can stay together till we're like, really really old?", Alisa let go of her sister and asked hopefully.
"Till death do us part", Rowena giggled.
"Till death huh?", Alisa smiled but then remember how cold she was as she started coughing raggedly.
"Hey, hang in there. Let's get you inside", Rowen's eyes filled with worry. Sadness filled her heart once more. She knew her sister wasn't in the best condition because of her fragile figure.
She hoped death wouldn't be coming anytime soon.
She knew if Alisa died, she would too.
She made a promise after all.
Till death do us part
