Chapter 23 - 23. The Prince's most treasured Griot.

Petrelli Knight was of very good cheer, good moods and high spirits and his Father King Aiglestar too was not faring any worse as Petrelli Knight had secured and begotten himself a group of Knights and calvarymen to utilize as warriors in battle. And there was a striking resemblance between the Prince Petrelli Knight and his Father King Aiglestar. Petrelli Knight also had been very successful in battle and much mightier than his Father against the other lands.

There were many developments in the Carmosa Castle and much could not be achieved without the growth and company of a Griot for the wise Prince. The Griot was to be well groomed and full of wisdom and advice and knowledge to use in delivering the Prince in every due season.

Of all the Griots interviewed by the King Aiglestar and his Son Petrelli Knight, Griot Sesay was the only best bestowed and qualified Griot needed and suited for the Prince. And not only was Griot Sesay wise and blessed with full knowledge, he was within the age range of Petrelli Knight.

Before Griot Sesay was chosen and selected by the Royal Family, there was a contest for the fitting of the choice of the lot. Amongst the games and contests for the prizes was the debating and mysterious battle contests. There were five Griots in the competition which included Griot Culmy, Griot Messa, Griot Konte, Griot Nimus, and the last but not least, Griot Sesay.

Amongst the competitions for the best Griot and friend to the Prince Petrelli Knight was the debating contest on the past and future issues concerning Petrelli Knight. All five Griots tried their best in argumentative speech about the Knight's congenial life and style that was about the history of Petrelli Knight and his escape to Knighthood rendered out in great words. Only Griot Sesay was able to win the contest. He alone was able to fathom out and reveal tales of the darkest of Petrelli Knight's story. He rendered the whole footage of the delivery of the Knight's story and his chemistry.

The next contest for the selection of the choice Griot for Petrelli Knight was the mysterious battle contest for Griots were Soothsayers this next competition and contest involved the use of blindfold in Knight combat while on their horses. Griot Culmy and Messa were first to fall off their stead while Griot Sesay singlehandedly took offbeat the other two Griots. The battle though tense, Petrelli Knight and his Father wondered how the Griot Sesay was able to conquer and defeat in this second contest.

After the second test, Petrelli Knight saw it befitting that the Griots partake in the last competition which was the drinking of a jar of bitter wine for it was said that Griots were able to perceive the bitter truth about life. The jars of bitters were arranged before the five Griots on a Table top and it was directed that there was to be no leakage while the herbs were drunk by the Griot. And in this contest also Griot Sesay emerged Victor gulping down all the bitter contents of the jar without dripping any of its contents from his lips like a Man starving and thirsting for bitter drinks all of his life. And though some of the Griots puked out and vomitted, Griot Sesay kept cool and calm and inconstipated.

At his success, when inquired about how he was able to succeed at the contests, Griot Sesay confessed that all his life in the Carmosa Castle he envisaged that the Prince would have need for a Great Griot and so therefore in anticipation of the ceremony of the selection, Griot Sesay went into sober prayers at their Sun God Temple and there he saw the vision of the three contests slated for the event of best Griot selection for the Prince. And up till now Griot Sesay kept warming up his embers in awaiting for the day of the election.

Griot Sesay was gifted with a prized black horse similar to that used by Petrelli Knight and shelter next to the inhabitation of the Prince for being Petrelli Knight's chosen Griot for he was to be always close Guide and company with the Prince.

As the custom and tradition of King's with their Griots, the Prince Petrelli Knight inquired from Griot Sesay what the next issue life would tell of him in the trial as a Knight of Paris. Without mincing words but in full confidence, Griot Sesay iterated, "Life and fun" said the Griot and Petrelli Knight threw a feast to celebrate the selection of his choice Griot and the party lasted all night after which the whole kingdom retired to bed except the Castle Guards.
