Chapter 73 - Cold Breeze

Frons:

I rushed in with Canis by my side. We headed towards the bear, who was now busy fending off the two Elvan commanders. Although outnumbered, the bear was holding her own. It would bat away the attacks of the elvan leaders with ease. Unfortunately, this would open her up to attack from the foot soldiers.

The little elvan creatures had all manner of makeshift weapons. Spears, knives, and clubs. They all cut and stabbed all over the massive beast. The enemy could only make superficial cuts. The bear was

covered in minor wounds, but it didn't stop her. Still, she would inevitably succumb to the horde. The scene reminded me of my own mother.

fighting who fought against Log and his men with us in her arms. (We need to hurry.) I thought as the horrible memories filled my head.

"I'll take the layer seven!" Canis shouted as we drew closer to the enemy. A few elvan warriors noticed us and began to head toward us.

"I'll take the seven. I've been itching for a proper fight. The last commanders I defeated weren't even worth my time." I announced as I struck the first enemy that came my way. The little creature flew into a handful of its comrade.

"Hell no, I've been training too hard to let you take the big fish. He's mine." Canis said as he cut down two of the creatures at once. I had to admit that the Mutt had gotten stronger over the past few weeks, but so have I. I wanted to test my strength against an opponent with sufficient power.

"How about we race for it. The first one to get to the bear wins." I explained while blocking a wooden club with my forearm. ( These small fried are in the way.) I thought as I coated my lower hand with Ki. I then punched a hole clean through the little man. Blood and guts fell to

the floor along with the now dead Elvan. I figured my ruthless display would discourage the rest of the enemy.

"You are on, monkey. I hope you like eat my du.." Canis started to say, but I was already gone. I blew past the little creatures going even further into enemy lines. I ignored them, using brute strength to force my way through. Most of them lost interest in me and went after the hound.

"You dirty monkey!" Canis roared. I wasn't worried about him. I hated to say it, but the dog was a good fighter.

Bang!

"Hello!" I said as I attacked the layer seven, Elvan. I thought my attack would catch him off guard, but the man saw right through my sneak attack. The man wore well-crafted grey armor. He looked to be in his mid-thirties with a long grey beard and braided ponytail. The commander stared at me with his cold black eyes.

"Another beast?" The man spoke to me telepathically. I ignored his question and readied myself for battle.

"You wish to fight? How amusing. The man scoffed. (Is he looking down on me? Let's fix that.) I thought as I strengthened my legs.

Crack!

The ground crumbled under my feet. As I charge my opponent. My first cut through the air like an arrow. I aimed for the man's head. He stepped to the side, avoiding my attack. I was surprised at how fast he was. The Elvan man swung his sword up, aiming to cut my arm off. At the last minute, I spun to my left and buried my elbow in the opponent's face.

"Ugh! I see you have a little skill. I'll show you some respect. My name is Breeze." The man announced as he wiped the blood from his mouth. I had read in a book that knights usually announced their names when fighting an opponent to show respect. I was surprised that a dark Elvan would practice such a thing.

"My name is Frons. I will be your last opponent in this life!" I said, repeating a line I read in one of my books.

"Hahaha, so confident. I hope you can back up that claims. Breeze laughed before rushing at me.

Whoosh!

(So fast!) I thought as I dove to the side. Feeling a gust of wind rush past me with incredible speed. I quickly rolled to my knees and attempted to stand, but the second I turned to find my opponent, I noticed a wind blade the size of my arm headed straight for me. Still, on my knees, I bent

backward, narrowly avoiding decapitating. (So he's a wind user.) I thought as I made my way to my feet.

"Hello!" Breeze said, appearing in front of me. Before I could say anything, I felt a gust of wind as the man's swung his blade down in a blur. It all happened so fast that I didn't have time to avoid the blow.

Shunk!

Blood dripped from my hand. I had to block the sword with my fist. In times like this, I wished Gora would have trained me in the blade instead of ti-ki. I was always at a disadvantage when facing an opponent wielding weapons. Lucky for me my master had taught me ways to make up for my weaknesses.

"Your ki control is impressive, for s beast that is." Breeze laughed as his sword dug into my skin. Fortunately, I was able to cover my hand with Ki right before I blocked his attack. It wasn't enough to stop the blow but good enough to save my limb. I did get a small cut in between my knuckles.

Ahh!

I roared as I pushed the man away. While he was off balance, I landed a roundhouse kick in the elvans stomach, causing him to slide back a few feet.

"Hahaha, if not for my armor, I'd have a few broke ribs by now. How amusing! Breeze laughed, rubbing the dent in his plate mail. The man wasn't taking me seriously, so I decided to change that. I raced towards Breeze. Before reaching him, I leaped into the air flip forward to gain momentum. (Axe heal.) I thought as I brought my leg straight down.

Crack.

The ground beneath the Elvan cracked under the weight of my blow. The grey-skinned man had managed to block my attack with the flat of his blade. Before he could counter, I leaped back and charged him again. Breeze smiled as he swung his sword at me. I coated my hand with thick ki and parried the attack.

Breeze brought his sword down, aiming for the left side of my neck. It was too late, however, as I'd already made it inside his guard. I uppercut the man causing his feet to come off the ground a few inches. I then used my bottom arm to perform the stone palm.

Bang!

My blow connected, sending Breeze rolling on the ground. I charged again, not wanting to give the man a chance to recover. Unfortunately, the Elvan leader was quicker than me. He rolled to his feet began and cutting the air multiple times. Dozens of barely visible wind blades rush at me. I halted my charge a dodged as many as I could. I managed to avoid most of them but received many minor cuts to my arms and legs. I thought I was safe when the attacks stopped, but the wind around me started picking up.

Whoosh Whoosh Whoosh

A small Toronto formed around me. I attempted to jump over it, but another barrage of wind blades stopped me in my tracks. Moments later, the small tornado had become a massive whirlwind. I was trapped. I found it hard to stay on the ground as the tornado pulled me

towards the sky.

"It's been fun little beast, but I'm in a hurry. So I'm afraid playtime is over." Breeze shouted.

"Aghhh!" I screamed. Something sharp cut me from behind. I fell to my knees in pain. Whatever attacked me had left a deep wound. I could feel the blood trickle down my back. ( I need to get out of here and fast.) I thought as the wind grew stronger. I couldn't die here, or I would fail Gora. That was not going to happen!
