"Is that a threat?" Mira was the first one to speak, breaking the silence. Her face looked calm, but her voice cracked up just a little.
I simply stated that it would be a shame for something to happen to a noble family member. Say if the lady Mira just up and died. It would be quite a shame," Mog said casually while leaking even more killer intent. If I wasn't in her lap, I probably have passed out by now. I was actually glad I was in her lap. It meant I had a front-row seat to watch the Mira squirm. Although I wasn't so sure why Mog had gotten all riled up so quickly. Usual she can hold it in, or at least she would resort to violence so quickly. (She's been this way for a month straight, what has gotten into you, Mog.) I thought, staring at the woman. She paid me no mind as she glared at the other nobles. Her purple eyes glowed with a furry.
Mira was about to speak when the wooden door to the back of the balcony swung open. All eyes went in the direction of the doors. Mog's Killer intent began to fade as a tall man walked into the royal's box. The newcomer sported a luxuries black and red robe with gold trimming. His short hair was the same shade of black as mine, but instead of one horn, he had two.
"Oh, it is just Motus. I thought the king was coming." Crassus said after recognizing the new man. Motus was the demon king's adviser. He was basically the mouthpiece of the demon king. I didn't know much about the man, only that he was a close friend of my father. Motus was never mean to me like the other high nobles. In fact, he always treated me with respect. Instead of hating me for my low birth, he was simply indifferent to me.
"I came to see if you are all behaving. His majesty is running a little late and sent me ahead. I trust that everything is well?" Motus said elegantly. His eyes went from Mogs to Mira, neither of them responded. They both just turned away from each other like a couple of schoolchildren.
"How long will his majesty be? I didn't get Princess Gora all dressed up for nothing." Mog announced as she crossed her arms. His majesty will be another hour at the most. He is doing something important at the moment. Gorren said while playing with his glasses. (I don't think we have another hour.) I thought, looking at both My maid and the demon general. The two were just seconds away from killing each other. I hop out of Mogs lap.
"Come Mog, I want to go visit my other brothers on the lower balcony. Besides, I can't enjoy the matches in piece up her. Too much noise." I announced as I began to walk away. Both Drak and Mog were taken by surprise but quickly caught up to me. I wasn't going to wait another hour with those people. (If father really wants to see me, he can come to find me.) I thought.
"Princess, I ask you to stay. The king insisted that you be seated next to him." Gorren said. I simply told him that I would be here when my father arrived and continued on. He didn't try to stop me, so I just kept going. The other princes were a little nicer to me, not much nicer, but they knew how to keep their mouths shut.
"Umm... Princess." Mog said, stopping a few inches away from the door to the lower balcony. She looked a little nervous, a significant change from how she was with the other generals. I asked her what was wrong, a little concerned. I rarely saw the worry in her eyes.
"I'm sorry they always act like this. The high nobles say such rude things to you. That bitch Mira is just jealous of how pretty the princess is and that the king. Would rather sit by the princess than her." Mog said. She looked genuinely concerned about my feelings. I gave her a long hug catching her off guard. She hugged me back tightly. I stayed like that for a minute to enjoy the sweet aroma that came from Mog. She smelt like a spring garden.
"Thank you for standing up for me, but I'm fine. I don't even listen to them anymore. I said with a smile." It was true I usually blocked out when the nobles spoke. They were all talk; not a single one would do anything stupid as long as my father is king. Before Mog could respond, I turned around and continued walking.
"Drak's can beat them for you princess if it would please you." Drak announced beside me. He had been quiet as a mouse this whole time. Drake wasn't as strong as the four demon leaders, but that wouldn't stop him from fighting in my name. The giant's loyalty shocked me sometimes.
"Naw that's okay big guy. You know what would please me?" A snack. I said, tapping the blue-skinned man on his leg. I was only tall enough to reach the troll's knees. Both Mog and Drak laughed a little before we entered the lower balcony.
I was met by a group of seven people. All members of the so-called "lower races." The only race, not present was the Arach. A race of spider-like creatures. I had an Arach brother, at least that's what I'm told. But he never shows himself to the public. The Arach are more like animals. Only the queen and a chosen few can even speak.
The room was had less space than the last one we were in, but it was still nice. I picked a chair a few feet from everyone else. Trying my best to look unapproachable. I just wanted to sit and enjoy myself. (Nobles like to talk too much.) I thought as I looked around the room. I noticed that all the eyes again were on me. Mog had put me in her lap again and paid no mind to the surrounding people. Drak took his place behind me.
"Hello princess, you look lovely today." Raya said. She was the leader of the Imp race. She had light purple skin and lime green hair braided down her back. Her big black eyes stared at me intently. Her long gown made her look more like a cute child than a demon leader. I was in the middle of thanking Raya when Mog interrupted me.
"She is so cute, isn't she, lady Raya? Look at her little bitty shoes. Mog said in baby talk as she raised my leg. I was frustrated but powerless to stopper. (Damn you, lady Raya, I sat away from you for this very reason.) I thought as Mog showed off every piece of my attire. The imp leader Loved cute things. She and Mog had that in common. They both proceeded to go on about clothes. Lady Raya was suggesting dresses for me to wear. While the two carried on, I asked Drak to get me a snack, he agreed, quickly happy to get away from girl talk.
As the giant walked, I noticed that the trolls were eyeing my bodyguard. They both had a look of disgust in their eyes. One of the lookers was my brother and the Troll prince. His name was Naku Hydra. He had dark blue muscular skin with a short black ponytail. The preferred hairstyle of the troll warrior.
"What an embarrassment, protecting a human. Naku said under his breath as Drak passed them. He was speaking the language of the trolls. Little did he know I had learned the language long ago. In fact, by the age of six, I had learned all eight languages spoken by the tribes. Trolls had a deep hate for humans. To Drak's credit, he just continued passed ignoring the looks of disdain.
"Shameful." Said the leader of the troll race. He was a giant even among his race. I didn't know the man's name; I refused to learn it because of all the hate the trolls had for me. That's why Drak's loyalty is so precious to me. The big guy could've refused to protect me, but instead, he chose to serve me faithfully. (To think this is the ridicule he must face, something must be done.) I thought as I glared at the two trolls.
"Can you lot keep it down! My grandson's fight is about to begin." A loud grumpy voiced announced. He was a short, burly man only a few inches taller than me. Grom was his name, and he was the leader of the goblin tribe.
"What stage is my brother on." I asked the grumpy little demon. He grunted and pointed at a stage closer to the other side of the coliseum. I looked at the stage but couldn't make out much. That's when Mog placed her hand on my head, channeling her power through me again. With her help, I was able to see the match clearer.
Standing on the stage was my goblin brother, Prince Juko Hydra. He sported thick leather armor and wielded an oversized machete. This was Zuko's second try at the entrance examination. In terms of strength, he was the weakest among my brothers. That didn't stop him though, the kid was very persistent. That's why I liked the kid. (Let's see if you can make it this time.) I thought, getting a glance at my brother's opponent.
The prince was up against an incubus wielding a saber. Instead of armor, the incubus wore a dress shirt and pants. As if he was just taking a stroll around the town. On his face was a smug grin, almost arrogant. He was looking down on my goblin brother. (Kick his ass, Juko!) I screamed in my head. The two fighters bowed and got in their stances.
"Began!" The announcer of the fight shouted. The saber wielder was the first to make a move. He thrust his blade at a brake neck speed. Juko barely dodged receiving a cut on the side of his face. Black blood appeared on his cheek, but he seemed unfazed. The incubus smiled a little to himself before attacking again. This time instead of one thrust, there were hundreds of them. Juko struggled to dodge and come up with an answer for his opponent's barrage. Something felt off. I had been watching Juko practice his swordplay for the last year. In my opinion, he should be able to handle himself.
Ting!
The sound of metal hit metal resounded through the air. Zuko had managed to parry one of the attacks, nocking back his opponent's blade. The incubus shock but was able to recover.
"It's over," I mumbled. Mog just nodded in agreement as we both knew what was coming next. My brother had been waiting, luring his opponent into a false sense of security. (That little goblins got the making of a superb swordsman.) I thought. Juko started to speak. I wasn't able to make it out the words, but I knew what was coming next.
Juko cut the air in the shape of an 'X,' much faster than his opponent's initial attack. For a moment, nothing happened.
Whoosh!
The air-light up with orange and red flame in the shape of a small 'X.' The flames sailed towards their target a few meters away. It all happened so fast the incubus had no choice but to stand and block the blow. Although he managed to stop some of the attacks, he still managed to get deep wounds on his thighs and shoulders. Bloodshot from the injuries, then his clothes caught on fire. The once smudged face demon was now rolling on the ground, desperate to put out the flames. When he succeeded in putting himself out. The incubus found a blade pointing at his neck.
"The match is over, winner, prince Juko!" The announcer shouted to the crowd. Everyone had stopped to see the prince fight, so all eyes were on the little guy. He said nothing, only pointing his machete into the sky in triumph. The crowd went nuts. The goblin leader seated near me leaped out of his seat. Knocking his wooden chair to the floor.
"That's my boy! Grom yelled." The man was overjoyed at his grandson's victor. I, too, was excited for the tiny fellow. He had worked hard to get here.
"That's my boy as well!" A smooth voice exclaimed from the end of the room. I knew the voice all too well. (It's about time you show your stupid face.) I thought as I turned to see who spoke. Everyone else followed suit, and before long, we were all looking in that direction.
"All hail the king!"
"All hail the Demon King!"
"All hail!"
Shouts went out the moment they saw him. Standing before us was the star of the show. My father and the and the all-mighty demon king.
