Chapter 9 - Hidden Intruder

Dae-Hyun

Gon and I exchanged a look of confusion as Eun-Ae turned around. "What is her deal?" I muttered, only to look down to see that I was still naked. "Oh shit!" I exclaimed and pulled the robe out of Gon's hand and slipped into it with haste.

What the hell did I just do? I groaned. "Eun-Ae… I feel like I am apologizing to you left and right today." I pinched the bridge of my nose and huffed.

"Your majesty! Who is it you have here?" Bool-He's voice shouted from the front of the bath.

Gon stood between us and him as I scooped Eun-Ae into my arms and took off toward the room we were in prior to. "Tuck your head and your tails. No one needs to know." I whispered to her as she curled into my arms.

She is so small… I thought as we rounded the last few corners. To my surprise the door to her room was opened. I set her down on her feet and pushed her behind me as I entered with caution.

"Who's in here?" I called out.

A vase in the corner had fallen over and shattered as two pair of yellow eyes appeared in the darkness. I heard a low growl from behind me and turned to see what Eun-Ae had shifted and was standing in a defensive stance. Her tails flowing behind her.

"So, you do have what was mine." Chun growled as he stepped into the light.

Another dark brown wolf stepped out from behind Chun. His head lowered as he snapped his jaw.

"She is not yours nor will she ever be." I stepped forward with a clenched fist, ready to defend her. I felt a strong possessiveness wash over me as I furrowed my brow.

"Dae, back down. I'll take care of them." Eun-Ae chittered at me.

"No, you're a woman and you're not fully healed yet."

"You know why I eat what I eat? It's because I'm immortal. I am not delicate." She growled back at me. "That bastard is a part of the pack of wolves that have taken it upon themselves to think they are my protectors when we both know I can do that just fine by myself."

"Jung?" I asked, putting two and two together I stepped to the side with my hands up, "I'm not stopping you."

Chun crouched down and held his hand out to Eun-Ae as she cautiously approached him.

"You don't belong here and you know it." Chun muttered.

"I don't belong to you nor do I pledge my loyalty to a pack of mangy wolves. You guys have done nothing but try to control me. You're never getting my pearl and I owe you nothing." She screamed back in anger.

What did she mean by that? He's a shifter? I thought to myself as he shifted into a black wolf. I stumbled backward as his canine frame towered over her but only for a moment before Eun-Ae's frame enlarged to match his.

Eun-Ae and Chun stood growling at one another. Her tails flicked and flared as the hair along her spine stood rigid.

The other wolf jumped out of the room and stared Eun-Ae down, the hair on his spine was raised. It was a two on one and there was nothing I could do to help her.

My eyes widened as a familiar voice called out to me, "Dae, fucking move!" Gon shouted as he pushed me out of the way and shifted into a dark brown and white wolf.

Gon and the other wolf snarled at one another before lunging at each other's throats why Eun-Ae stood staring Chun down.

"Stay away from me! Everyone in that fucking pack can stay the hell away from me! Tell that mutt to leave me alone!" She stomped her paw in a fit of rage, fracturing the wood below her feet.

Chun was taken back by her action and raised his brow as I stayed as far back as I could from these two. The amount of power radiating from that room had honestly scared me as a purple aura began flowing around Eun-Ae.

"Chun. You should fucking leave!" I shouted.

The wolf's eyes darted from Eun-Ae to me and narrowed. He snarled at me and snapped his jaw.

Eun-Ae leapt onto his back and began biting at the base of his neck. Chun dropped and rolled in an attempt to get her off but remained unsuccessful as they tumbled around the room. The furniture and glass shattered and broke around them.

"You bastard. Don't you disrespect the king." She hissed as she used her claws to tear away at his fur and flesh.

Chun rose onto his hind legs, using his weight he fell over onto his back, smashing her into the floor with a sickening crack. The floor gave way as she yelped, but she remained latched to him.

Chun whined, growled and snarled as he clawed at her, eventually scratching her side causing her to loosen her grip and thrusted her into the wall beside me with a loud clash.

I wanted to help her, but my body refused to move as my heart throbbed and my mind panicked. How could I stand up against a wolf? I'm just a human. Damn it! I shouted in my head as Eun-Ae slowly rose to her feet.

"You are nothing but a pain in my ass, now die!" She shouted as her tails and snout began to glow. She opened her jaw and shot a ball of light at him, catching his hindquarters.

Chun yelped as he fell onto his stomach. This damn dog had enough energy in him to take whatever it was she shot at him.

The force of the blast pushed me back causing me to stumble and fall. I landed on my ass with a heavy thud as I watched the wolves with widened eyes.

The dark brown wolf that was facing Gon had taken off with an injured paw before he turned to face Chun.

Gon snapped his jaw at Chun and growled.

"Stay out of this! This is my problem not yours." I heard her say as she limped toward the fatally injured Chun.

Gon shifted his gaze to me, his eyes bore holes into my soul. How did I not know my best friend was a shifter, too? I opened my mouth to speak but I was unable to form actual words.

He rolled his eyes at me and sat on his haunches as we both turned our attention to Eun-Ae and Chun.

"This will be the last time you mess with me." She growled, pressing her paw into his neck.

Chun snapped his jaw at her causing Gon to stand up and approach. His head lowered as he growled.

Eun-Ae quickly snapped at Gon to stop his advances. "I will kill you too if you interfere."

Gon huffed at her as she turned her attention back to Chun and shifted back into her human form. "Say goodnight." Her voice sang as she gripped his throat and divorced his head clean from his body.

My jaw dropped. I was utterly speechless at how easily she killed this man. My heart jumped into my throat as she sat down in the pool of blood that formed beneath her.

"What a waste of a bath." She sighed, looking at her bloodied hands as she pouted.

Gon shifted back and remained seated on the floor in the nude. "That was crazy." He mumbled nonchalantly.

I looked at him with crazed eyes, "What the fuck do you mean? And why didn't you tell me you were a shifter too?"

"Thought you would have known by now. How do you think I tracked you down so easily? Or when you sent me to get those… you know what I mean."

I leaned my head against the wall and let out a heavy sigh. How am I so calm about this? Deep down inside everything that had just happened scared me.

"Dae-Hyun… is everything okay?" Eun-Ae's sweet voice invaded my ears.

I tried not to look in her direction, the sight of blood usually turned my stomach into mush and the smell. Surprisingly the iron that permeated the air didn't cause me any discomfort.

Swallowing hard, I shifted my gaze in her direction, her small figure was concealed behind her hair but her bloodied hands held the heart and I'm assuming the liver of Chun.

"I'm okay. W-we need to get this taken care of and you cleaned up." I stammered as I shifted my gaze to Gon. "Can you take care of this and the floor? I'm moving her to a room closer to mine."

The halls were filled with what sounded like a parade as my palace occupants had awakened during the fight that had broken out.

"Oh my, what is this?" A sentinel covered his nose, scowling at the three of us.

"Your majesty, what happened here? Are you alright? This isn't your blood, who does it belong to?" Bool-He shouted as he stomped over to Eun-Ae, pulling her to her feet. "You did this?"

Eun-Ae pulled her arm from his grasp and backed into the room, kicking the dead body of the wolf. "Yeah I did. But if I hadn't been here he would have killed your majesty." She lowered her gaze and wrapped her tails around her.

"Bool-He, did you know that Chun belonged to the pack that my father tried to destroy all those years ago?" I asked. Hysteria washed over me as I broke out into laughter. "You, you're as old as the dirt we walk on and you have no idea the shit we just got ourselves into."

"You brought the kumiho here. You knew she was under the protection of that pack. This isn't my fault. Clearly you're the one who brought this upon us!" He retorted.

"Actually he didn't even know about the wolves. So blaming him isn't going to do you any good." Eun-Ae shouted at him and tiptoed over to me. "We need to get cleaned up, like you said. Please, your majesty, we can go back to the baths and not be disturbed." She turned her head back and scowled at Bool-He.

Bool-He placed his hands on his hips and scoffed, "You two have already been intimate it seems."

"You tried to get him to sleep with my friends. Kidnapped all of the women who had their other halves and yet you forgot about little ole me." She rolled her eyes.

"No one thought you were alive… not after-" He stopped and was pulled away by another magistrate.

What? After what? What was he talking about? I'll have to beat the answers out of him later.
